"the best"
my favorite cigar to date. A very beautiful and classy cigar. I remember the first time I had one. After every puff I would say "That is the best damn cigar I've ever had!" Nice and creamy with great flavor. I always keep a box on hand for special occassions...no matter the price.

"A Monty Tang"
Fine burn speed, if a bit uneven. Surprisingly, almost a Montecristo tang to it. Unlike other Cohibas I have smoked in this regard. A good looking puro, did pull a bit tightly at first. I understand why the Cubans smoke these.

"01s Rock"
One of the nicest Cohibas I have tried, the '01s seem to be all the rage right now. No wonder, with the typical grassy profile enhanced by cream and spice. A great smoke with just a little bit of age.

"Great Cuban"
This one sat around in a buddy's (dry) humidor too long but it was still really good. Cubans have a distinct flavor that makes you wish for the quick death of Castro so we can remove the embargo.

"great cigar"
definatly a best in my book. To bad there not available in the usa. God damn embargo... Overall a very good cigar though, but i still like the dominican cohibas better even with the high prices.

"Burned fast"
This was a great tasting stick, but I fear my money was wasted as the burn was way to fast, even for a small ring cigar. I think a few bucks off would have made this one of my favorite ISOMs.

"Can be excellent"
JJMD is right, you want to slowly savor these cigars to get their maximum potential. I've had one that was too tight out of maybe 10, so you run that risk ... but the rich flavors are spectacular when these are on.

"Incredible"
This is the best stick I have smoked to date. Tawny smooth brown wrapper with minimal veins. Excellent construction with no soft spots. INCREDIBLE prelight aroma. Easy light. Smooth draw. Flakey gray ash. Razor sharp burn with no need for correction. Started with wood and vanilla, and eased its way into a pleasant grassy flavor and mild sweet leather. The woody flavor intensified as it was smoked, but was never obtrusive. The vanilla note danced in and out and became more prominent at the last third which was also combined with a toasted tobacco flavor. Amazingly complex, this stick took a full 1 hour and 45 minutes to enjoy. It MUST be smoked slowly to appreciate all of the complexity and nuances. Do NOT draw too hard or too frequently or the flavors become sour and unpleasant. All in all, an outstanding smoking experience. I did not experience the much rumored draw problems, even though this was from the notorious '01 stock. I can see why this is Castro's diplomatic gift!! This is the only cigar I have given straight 10's on.

"Excellent Smoke"
Other than having a small ring size and a little bit of a tight draw this was a great smoke. The flavor was excellent. If these were easily available (received in a gift pack), I would fill a humidor with them.

"Fidel was right..."
This is a top notch smoke. I have had a few from 1997 and 2001, both were wonderful experiences. Classic Cohiba grassy taste along with creamy, spicy, and earthy hints. No wonder this was Fidel's go-to smoke. Just a classic in everyway with white ash, beautiful wrapper & construction!

"Interestingly Unique"
Draw was a bit hard, but the rich full flavor made this a very nice smoke. A tad fuller than I prefer but definitely worth the experience.

"Taste"
This is the first cigar I've had where the different tastes really jumped out. The bouquet smelled like cinnamon so I was looking forward to this one. The cinnamon was there in the taste of the whole cigar (started off strong then mellowed out as the cigar went along.) About 1/2 way through some vanilla crept in. Very nice.
The draw on this cigar was pretty tight, I did expect a little more from the construction.

"Legendary"
Earlier today I received a pair of these from a buddy of mine, I (being the impatient person that I am) Just had to light one up tonight...Now, before I get into it, I must verify, that yes, these were verified to be authentic by somebody who knows ISOM sticks, although I couldn't give you a year as I dint see the box that they came out of. That being said, lets get down to business. The overall construction of the stick was really something, it almost appeared to be rolled too tight, very slight bumpy-ness. I snipped the pigtail tip off with ease, and tested the pre-light draw...it seemed slightly on the wrong side of tight. I took my time in lighting it, and then, I took the first draw...Kind of weak and tight...I was gearing up for a disappointment, especially when I saw the burn becoming slightly crooked. I took a few more puffs and got the same result. I set it down for a second...just to let the burn straighten out. I took another long draw and it hit me...this cigar came to fight! A blast of rich peppery smoke filled my mouth, and lingered on the palate fading away into an almost sweet dried fruit taste. The pepper flavor eventually adopted that of wood and leather, and the finish got even sweeter. The burn straightened out about 1/4 of the way down when the flavors of black pepper, wood, and leather seemed to reach a peak and introduced yet another flavor...a subtle hint of bitter chocolate. About halfway down I was feeling the effects, the cigar I thought was going to be weak began to floor me, The chocolate began to fade away, and the pepper only got stronger, it changed from a lowly black pepper to a complex spicy mixture of different chillie peppers, all the while being complimented by the slight taste of wood and the fading hint of leather. The smoke got a bit more dense, but this was never a really smoky cigar, the ash was very firm, although not quite as dark as I was expecting, the finish was sweet salty and spicy all at the same time, kind of like a grilled mango with chillie powder on it. with less than 1/4 of the stick to go, I began to really feel floored, but the stick was so good I didn't want to get up anyway, the pepper eventually got more tame, and the wood took over in the drivers seat the rest of the way down. The overall finish was long and left the taste of sugarcane on my pallet. This was perhaps one of the most complex cigars I've had in a long time, and I'd definitely recommend it, if I had to put a number rating on it, I'd give it a solid 93, using the ISOM RYJ Churchill en Tubo as the benchmark 100. The Cohiba Lancero is definitely a fantastic smoke, right on the cusp of being a classic.

"Could have been magic"
I was so excited when I pulled this out of my humidor. Over two years old, and in perfect shape. Once lit, the draw was very tight...so I figured it would lossen up. It never did, only getitng tighter to the point where I had to give up on the cigar half way through, as I was ruining the end by drawing so hard. Very dissapointed.
