"Cohiba teaser"
I suppose those who have smoked authentic Cuban Cohiba's would agree that Cohiba have a very distinct taste that makes them truely unique. Recently, a friend picked up two Sligo V's for me while on a cruise (unreal expensive). Both came with their own box/sleeve, which is a nice feature. Both are rolled fairly tight with smooth, dark wrappers. I have tried most sizes of the Cuban Cohiba, with varying results. They are ALWAYS hit or miss because there is no quality control for Cuban Cigars like you'd get from, say, Rocky Patel. This can be frustrating if you pay $15 or more for each of these babies. The mere fact that they are CUBAN COHIBAS means that they are worth more flawed than as seconds. Anyway, the first of two Sligo V's was fairly unremarkable on lightup. As it built, it got creamy and rich, then...baaaaam... the unique Cohiba flavor came through. Ahhhhhh!!! This is what smoking a Cohiba is all about!!!! However, this particular cigar did not smoke like a dream like many Cohiba's have for me. It had to be relit several times, was rolled way too tight, ran as it went down, and it was pretty tough to draw on. Persevering as I am, I nubbed it. Cohiba tobacco is what makes these cigars such an experience, but the size is what makes them a dream. This size was not a dream. A Cohiba Robusto tends to be more consistent and with loads more smoke. That is a masterpiece smoke, this is not. I don't see myself spending the cash on this size anytime soon. As for the second Sligo V...we'll age it and report back after a while.

"One of the best of the line."
Probably my favorite "fresher" Siglo right behind the Sig II Tubos. Good woody flavors without as much of the "grassiness" that fresh Cohibas usually exhibit. Great burn and draw, not much complexity yet (it was an '07), but I am guessing these will continue to age into some stellar smokes.

"Was expecting more, but not much"
This was my first V, and it took forever for the flavor to come out. Not very Cohibaish. It probably needed to be aged more, but nevertheless. Once the first quarter was complete, the silky smooth cream with the right mix of spice permeated through this top tier stick. The burn was perfect all the way through and if it wasn't for the initial lack of flavor I would have given it a perfect 10.

"THE Dalia of Dalias!"
This is one of my top 3 Cohiba cigars...EVER. I do love the Partagas 8-9-8 Varnished, but if price were no object I would certainly buy more of these than do. But, once again, despite Cohiba's over-pricing, (my opinion only!) this cigar is truly worthy of it. I've purchased a total of 7 boxes in the past 6 years. In my first box, I had one plug, and haven't had one since. The smoothness, no, the creaminess os this cigar is out of this world. I find myself lighting one, grabbing a book, sitting down and before I know it, the cigar is burning my fingers and the book is yet unopened. That's how carried away I get when I light one of these up. The smoke is so enjoyable, I kind of drift away...okay, okay, weird, but true! It has a nice amount of spice, and a lovely floral note that lasts for at least a half of the stick. The finish is long, cedary and delicious! I'm sorry the reviewer 'dlc625' had an "annoying aftertaste that couldn't be described"...I only hope he gives this hall-of-famer of a stogie another chance, the aftertaste on this cigar, in my opinion, is just so...perfectly matched, so to speak, with the rest of the cigar, it's one of my favorite finishes in the business. This cigar is expensive, true, but to have just one box and to smoke one or two a year and by the time you get down to between 19 and 21, you simply won't believe how great this cigar is.

"Good stuff!"
This stick with box code PEL 7/01 is draped in a silky smooth Colorado wrapper with a beautiful reddish hue. There are minimal veins, virtually imperceptible tooth, and no soft spots. The familiar triple cap is present. Easy light. Perfect draw. Even burn without the need for relights or corrections. Gray-black ash and tons of whitish-blue smoke. Started with nuts and a slight grassy flavor. The first third saw a cornucopia of flavors, including tannic leather, sweet wood, and hint of vanilla, grass, and chocolate., There was also a noticeable saltiness, that when combined with the sweetness, seemed almost like “kettle corn”!! Delicious!!! The middle third brought a tangy toasted tobacco flavor with peppermint, leather, wood, and notes of grass. There was also a whisper of fruitiness in the background and even a smoky BBQ-type flavor. The tanginess increased as it was smoked. The final third saw a transformation towards charred wood, and a bitterness was noted, particularly in the last 1 ½”. I also felt the Vitamin N start creeping in at the very end. All in all, this one hour 20 minute medium-to-full bodied smoke was most enjoyable. The medley of flavors, hints, and nuances was delightful. Paired with ice water at the end of a long, hot day.

"Exceptional cigar."
I've smoked a number of these, from various years, and they never disappoint. For one, I love the size. Second, the Siglo V's flavor is, with a little age, incredibly complex, always with the typical Cohiba flavor undertones.

"Much Better then its D.R. Sister"
I smoked this in Guatemala and was impressed. I always buy my Cubans with a small ring guage. It was medium bodied w/salt and pepper ash. Flavor was leathery and w/expresso notes and a medium finish. I would buy again.

"Great Stick"
Won this cigar at the golf course. First Cuban I've ever tried. Man, what a great cigar. Had leather and creamy coffee flavors all the way through. I could only finish about half of it because I was buzzing hard. Would prefer another in a robusto size, but this was the best cigar I've ever had. Only problem was it went out on me once and I had to relight

I am still buzzing as I write this. I just got done smoking one of these on the deck and, WOW! This was a good one with cacoa and roasted coffe flavors with a hint of hazelnuts. Did not have a real even burn but, it never got too out of hand.

"Excellent Cohiba"
This is a good looking cigar that draws and burns well. It is also well made. It is rich, creamy, and peppery with a short toast and cedar finish. It is a good cigar but to creamy to smoke in the evening and to peppery to smoke in the morning or afternoon.

"An excellent Cohiba"
Great Cohiba flavors, but a wrapper that unraveled and some problems to stay lit. I believe these construction problems were due to an initial lack of care (it was a gift from a non smoking friend from Cuba...). 15 mths in my humidor couldn't solve the problem. However, a great cigar, its cocoa and other well balanced flavors vastly setting off any other flaws.

from a box from 99. With 5 years of age on this Lonsdale all harshness and bitter tannic qualties were gone leaving a beautiful, smooth complex great tasting cohiba. Definately in my top 5 cigars ever.

"Too refined"
A dynamic cigar, well-blended medley. Unfortunately the 1st half of this was a bit too refined, and was highlighted by an interesting but annoying sweet overtone. It did redeem itself with some power at the end, though. Creamy, sweet, leather, and finally bold. Definately worth a try.
