"Just edged out the Monte 2"
just finished a three pack of these. They come in beautiful black tubes when you buy the three packs. Anyway smokes three of these
and three Monte 2's this week. I admit I have a soft spot for Partagas. The Monte's smoked slower and burned better but man that Partagas taste. Two of the P2's burned well. One was tight but cleared up with a little massage. Anyway the Partagas P2 wins this week over the Monte 2. Good strength, great full flavor. I just got a 10 box of Lusi's that will be the next review.

"Spicy but Smooth"
Reminded me of a lot of Pepin's cigars, but it's more refined and has a subtle and irresistible aroma that can't be duplicated. It has a lot of spice up front, then mellows a bit and ends with a peppery bang and a long finish. Smooth medium to full body that keeps its composure and complexity all the way to the band. (Gets a little sharp after that, but you'll burn your fingertips anyway.)

"delicious"
What a wonderful cigar this is. Right up there with BBF and Monte 2. I found this to be more medium flavor than full and very creamy. Sweet and spicy with hint of dark chocolate in the first half and then a tangy taste with a slight hint of white pepper in the second half. Fantastic and long finish which lasted hours after the last draw. Get them and you won’t regret it one bit.

"I'm in!"
Picked up a box dated April '06 & can't imagine these getting any better! Great presentation, construction & burn, as others have said a sweet, nutty flavor in the beginning followed by the classic Partagas spice by the end. I've always been partial to Partagas & if this is the new generation of them, I'm in!!

"Disappointment"
I had great expectation. I love the Partagas of all kinds and vitolas, but hadn't tried this one before. Great appearance, but the construction gave away from the very beginning. The wrapper was terrible and it burned unevenly and the ash pillar was ugly and rugged. The first third tasted wonderfully, the last part was less exciting. I also had trouble keeping it lit. Strong, full-bodied Partagas taste, but it couldn't make up for the disappointing construction.

"One of My Favorite Smokes"
I have an early 2006 box, and they are just exceptional sticks. The pyramid is weighty when you hold it and the construction will draw your eye up an down a few times.

The whole smoke has a creamy quality uncharacteristic of most Partagas. I did not get any honey in it like other reviewers, but did get a bit of hazelnut. It has one of the BEST burns and can just sit and then be puffed on at your leisure.

The ending is where the beast comes out though and you get crushed pepper and a patented Partagas bite. Astounding cigar well worth the money.

"Very good pyramid"
Started off well, with a good draw and burn. Heavy wood and cocoa flavors, yet very smooth. Very good stick, but not worth the price for me. Bought a whole box of these, rolled in October-06, which makes them very young, but they still could have been better. Call me crazy for prefering a dominican over a cuban, but I'll take and Anejo 55 over this any day. Let's see what happens with these in a few months

Got a box of 25 in Nov 2005. I have smoked 18. This is a cigar that has to be aged for at least six months. Great Partagas flavors however quite pricey. For value, go with the Partagas D4's which are just as good.

"Not what I expected"
These cigars had an 05 date on them so they were young. They all seem to be rolled very well. It started off very mild with a wood taste and some spice. The cigar seemed to burn faster than I would have expected. About the halfway point it got a bit stronger but was still quite mild as to what I am use to from Partagas. Not a lot of change in the flavor as it got shorter, very woody tasting with some spice. I will have to give them some time and see if they change.

"Construction Site"
Very nice looking cigar, but in the box I got, tight, unpleasant draws. The plugginess unquestionably inhibited the flavor and bouquet that is described by others, so I have to feel shortchanged. Frankly, of the Series P's and Monte 2's I have smoked over the last two years, most have been plugged to some degree. I prefer a Diplo 2 for consistency and outstanding smoking.

Finally got a box of 10. Tried the first just a couple of days after receiving... Excellent taste, flavor and moderate strength. Had a canoeing burn problem from the start but I'm chalking it up to smoking too soon after opening the box... will let the others spend some time in the humidor and I believe that this issue will resolve itself... construction otherwise was fine.

"A lesson in discipline"
Was able to try a few of these on a recent vacation, and all I can say is WOW. This has always been my preferred size, along with the Robusto and I was excited to try this smoke. No disappointment and everything I have come to expect from Partagas. That signature spicyness and Cuban earthiness that Partagas has built its reputation on. It builds slowly and changed flavor multiple times, tasting a nutty and caramel type flavor towards the middle. A bit more sweetness that the robusto, but the difference is very subtle. I can’t wait to let the ones I brought back get some age on them. These are currently my favorite of the Cubans being produced today and for my money they blow away anything Cohiba is putting out right now. The hardest part will be leaving them alone for a few years to see how they age.

Got 5 of these in a split early in 2005, and sat on them until now...glad I did! Everything about this cigar was "on" ...perfect prelight draw, gobs of smoke with that "Partagas" flavor profile after lighting, perfect burn. Just an A+ smoke...like smoking an 8-9-8 with bigger Ring Gauge and size. Excellent smoke, scary to think what these might be like with a couple more years age.

"The Best Piramide on the Market"
I am an old cuban piramide follower and this new (or recent) introduction form Partagas is the best piramide out there. Perfect draw, construction and smoke volume, yet its most important characteristic is its balanaced and sophisticated taste with a solid crescendo of complexity. Simply a great value and one of the best Cubans prduced in 05. The only problem is that I did have a dud or two in my box and the wrapper was vainy and rough.

"Very Nice"
The start had me worried as i though i go a plugged stick, but it loosen a bit, leaving me with an only slightly too firm draw. Other than that the construction was great. Burned very well. The taste really remined me of a combination of an Ashton VSG torp and a RASS, pretty spicy. definitly different from a PSD 4. the most impressive part was that even when i had it down under an inch the tar never built up. only limited by the size of your fingers when smoking this one. not the best cuabn i have ever had but its up there.

"Did I get a bad one?"
Received a sample pack of 5 different vitolas the other day, no clue what factory or date codes are, unfortunately. Typically I enjoy a nice full-bodied cigar paired with the right drink. Had this with California Sebastiani Cabernet. This stick looked so damn good, I was really looking forward to it as I love Partagas Shorts and Petitie Corona Especiales and PSD #3 LEs.. May have caught it in its dead period, but what some may call earthiness, to me, on this one tasted like crap. I almost tossed it out half way through but kept going waiting for the anticipated cuban flavor change. The flavors did not develop or change at all. I did not enjoy this cigar. I still have one more and will let it sit who knows 3 6 9 months and if it is improved will definately update this review. (I have smoked boatloads of MC No 2, Upmann No 2, Opus X, Montesino Aged Cab Beli, Bolivar Beli Finos... just never had one as bad as this cigar tasted.)

"Move aside D4"
Looking at these beauties it's hard to conceive lighting it up. They are beautifully constructed with a rich, dark wrapper that is smooth without deep veins. The aroma is of well-aged tobacco. The draw and burn were consistent and just right. Burn was razor sharp throughout (which is a bonus considering some of the other cubans these days). Now, the flavour is mellow, not as heavy as the Partagas line would lead one to expect (*initially*). I thought the flavour was similar in some way to a Monte2 with more mocha. As the smoke progressed it increased definatively in character and had Partagas written all over it with more earthy almost cedary tones. No problems smoking this one past the band. Only problem is you don't want to smoke any more as they look so damned good in the humidor. Anyway I'd say BS and say don't get them (so there are more for me) but I think everyone should sample this little beauty.

From the cuban smokes I've indulged in lately I would have to say Cuba is on a comeback. Anyone who would shell out $30 for an Opus X versus some of the latest $10 cubans has well... been missing out to be polite.

"Fantastic!!"
I just had my first P2 last night, and the hype on this stick is well-deserved! Beautiful rich brown wrapper with minor veins and no soft spots. Prelight aroma was decadent. Easy light. Fantastically smooth draw with razor sharp burn the whole way down (no need for touch ups at all!). Started with spice and cream, and melded its way into earth and wood after the first 1/3. The last 1/3 finished with very pleasant floral notes. I smoked it at my local B&M with my wife, and all who were there wanted to sit closer just to smell the sweet smoke! I've only got 4 more, which are going to nap for a little while. I only hope I can resist the temptation to break these out prematurely, as these are still very good despite their youth! Great smoke!! A sure classic-to-be.

"In like a lamb, out like a lion"
With all the hype preceding its release, it was impossible to approach this cigar objectively. A true pyramide, impressive in size and appearance, there was just enough roughness and inconsistency in construction to remind you that this is a "traditional" Partagas, not another boutique cigar. Initial draws were surprisingly mild, but with classic Partagas flavors. The cigar developed nicely, and by the last third was revealing deep wood, earth and spice. Time will surely reveal greater depth and complexity. It had a savory and long-lasting finish, which left no doubt about the quality of the tobacco. After sampling one, I ordered another box! A classic!

Flavore started out leather/earthy for the first 3rd (like a BBF) than switched to a PSD4 flavor profile. than back and forth with a nice woody undertone. this has some youth in it but it will be a classic smoke.
