"My go-to cigar"
My go-to cigar. A great smoke with the typical Fuente sweetness and spice throughout. I enjoy a mild-medium cigar and this is one of my favorites. Similiar to the Ashton Heritage, but for half the price. I like to try different cigars, but I always come back to this one as a favorite. The Fuentes make a great line of cigars. No bitterness. Great value.

"Let it be"
Smokers have to realize that the less expensive cigars aren't aged very long before shipping. The only time I smoke one right from the store is when I get more expensive one. Anyhoo... I found out how good these cigars can be after I took a year off from smoking because of bad allergy problems. Before that, I never considered this to be a great cigar. This year, I tried them again after 2 years of sitting in my humidor and I was greatly surprised. It burned well and had a nice cedary and cocoa taste. ...goes great with some coffee (as do most cigars). At just over 4 bucks a piece, I bought a box and they'll be in the bottom of my humidor until next year.

"One of my favs so far"
Arturo Fuente cigars are starting become my favorite brand. I haven't had a bad one yet and this is one of my favs. I was really surprised how creamy and smooth it was. No tongue bite and I finished this cigar before I finished my one cup of coffee which is rare for me. Usually I'll go through 2 to 3 cups before I finish the cigar because of tongue bite. I've tried a Don Carlos last night and it was pretty good but I actually think I prefer this one.

"Very Good Smoke"
I just ordered my second box of these and think they're the best under $5 dollar cigar out there. You can find them online for under US $100 per box of 25 (including shipping)...but you have to grab them fast because they tend to sell out quickly. Seems that Fuente doesn't ship these cigars on a regular basis...they make them when they make them. These are pretty much becoming my everyday smoke at this point, as long as I have them on hand. They start out a little on the mild side but by the time you're on the second third the sweet earthy tones start kicking in with a little bit of pepper. This is not a cigar for those that want a full flavored stick. The body starts out mild and finishes out, at the most, medium.

This really is a fine cigar. Props for the rolling consistency on these. Burns straight and true with no baby-sitting. Lots of smoke, good interesting flavor, sweet flavor on the tongue and lips, long ash, fragrant smoke scent. I could go on and on.

"Try more than one before judging"
I have to be fair and eat a little crow on this one. My initial review on this cigar, back in May of this year, wasn’t that great. Since then, I have had a few more of these, and I have to admit that I quite enjoyed them. Perhaps my first experience was with a badly kept cigar, (the wrapper kept unraveling), and that swayed me towards the critical review. The latest ones I have smoked were from a different retailer, and they have all been great. The construction was right on, no unraveling on any of them. The cigars flavor was very good, again not same as my first experience. The fact that I have a few Cubans in my humidor, and tend to keep the RH at 65%, may have had something to do with the more enjoyable experience I had with these latest cigars. For the price, vitola, and quality, I think this is a very good deal, and for the next review I submit, I will try to remember not to base it on a single experience.

"tasty but tight"
Very nice presentation on this classic-looking cigar with a medium brown wrapper. I really like the flavor - slightly spicy, slightly sweet smoke from the start. One of the best non-Cuban. Even burn and long ash. Draw was tight though, and I am hoping humi time helps. Would not pay retail for these, but got this box free from a salesman. Costs $6 retail, I'll estimate $4.00 for online.

"Good Cigar"
This is a good cigar, not only is the flavor good, with a unique taste, almost a mix of nut bread, and coffee; but the construction was really outstanding. I was able to get a nice cylindric tube of solid white ash to fall neatly into my ashtray. That's something I've never seen before.

I paid $5.75 for the Flor Fina 8-7-8, and I would definitely buy it again. I see from this database, the average price is $5.00. I would have expected this cigar to cost at least $7 or $8.

My advice would be, get it at a shop with a humidor, and from a shop that normally sells very fresh cigars.

"NEED TO BE AGED"
Once again, I am following some reviews giving fair to poor reports about a cigar. Once again, I will remind the readers of my reviews that I have a large cigar collection, and have the means to extensively age my stash. I did not like this Fuente 858 when I smoked one fresh out of the box some seven years ago. Now, I am thoroughly enjoying this medium body, creamy and tasty treat. Good construction, slightly uneven burn (but not enough to cause a problem,) effortless draw. Very pretty. Shiny chestnut brown wrapper, with some thin veins. A very nice, silky and leathery texture of smoke. Delicious and complex flavors. Toasty bread overtones, with subtle hints of many flavors. I am detecting some coffee and nuts, perhaps some fruit. So, I will venture a guess ... perhaps Fuente boxes these 858's without proper aging time? Anyway, I almost traded these away, but I was advised by fellow cigar smokers to hold onto them, and I just may be in for a surprise. I am very glad I took the advice. This Fuente is excellent.

"OK - but not great"
The cigars construction looked good, the finish on the wrapper was not that
appealing. I though it was tightly rolled, but when smoked the draw was
right on. The flavours were much too floral and too mild for my liking. I
was very disappointed, as with other reviewers, that the wrapper started to
unravel about half way through. If you want to have a more flavourful A.F.,
with a little more strength, try the A.F.'s sun grown line.

"not great"
I've been trying to find this cigar in Maduro or Sun-Grown but had to settle for this. Very nice flavor & aroma from the beginning. Had some burn issues after the wrapper mysteriously split on its own while I drew on the cigar (minus for that). Flavor morphed from slightly spicy with coffee to a more mellow creamy flavor - but this was short-lived. I paid way too much for this at almost $8. Half that is a good value.

"bad draw & bad construction :("
i got this guy at a strip club. bad idea. it was horribly dry and falling apart. the draw was terrible..i had to suck on it for about 15 minutes to get a mouthful of smoke. the worst draw i've had on a cigar ever. i dont know if it was due to the storage conditions or not. flavor was dirty and a light meat-like flavor. like a turkey dinner. they gladly replaced the cigar, however, which i was quite pleased by. 10 points to that fine establishment.

"good stuff"
Funny to see the wide range of reviews. For those of you disappointed, sorry, but this cigar like other fuente's is great. I don't know if fuente is necessarily a status symbol, especially if you consider some much more overrated, overpriced cigars. To me this cigar is justly priced, and its range of flavors (spice, cedar, coffee, and cocoa) is one that both new smokers and aficianados can appreciate.

Nice mild smoke which has never let me down. On occasion it has somewhat of an uneven burn. Great with a cup of good coffee. IMO, coffee is the best accompaniment to a cigar. Good firm draw. Never had a one plugged. Could have a little more smoke but overall very pleasant. Cocoa with a hint of spice. Creamy. At times leathery. Occasionally gets a little acidic last 1/3. 1 of my top 5 gars.

construction was nice. A few veins. Nothing really special. a natural tan and no visible blemishes. Spongey and springy it had a good feel. Quick snip and had a Slightly tight draw. Maybe too used to robusto sized. very familiar mild taste. Slightly uneven light. Sweet and mild with a short subtle tobacco and coffee finishes. A bit rough on the palette. After an inch the sweet and cofee flavors were replaced by cedar and was definitely stronger, maybe mild-medium. Burn evened out if left alone. The smoke sort of smoothens out into a creamy toasty taste with a hint of bitterness when i smoke too quickly. Ash held for about an inch with a grey-white color. I am totally enjoying this cigar. Draw got tighter as it passed the halfway point and I was now fighting to get a good puff. fighting down to the band, and that was enough for me. overall, a tasty smoke. if I had one with a better draw, it would have been a finger burner.

"Nice value from Fuente"
I have been a longtime fan of Hemingways and Don Carlos...OpusX, too. That said, this 858 is a solid mild to medium bodied smoke for those who like a lighter palate profile. Nice wrapper...good aroma...great construction and draw...tons of billowy smoke and a pleasant finish. It has that grassy, woodsy taste that Fuente is famous for...similar to a Hemingway, but it lacks that little sweet smack. Overall, nicely done...I enjoyed it with a few cold ones and it was perfect. I would expect more when I am sitting down with a glass of aged spirits and more in the moment...but for a casual smoke, you can't beat it.

A good looking cigar. pre-light smells like cigar box. I agree with Weezy's previous entry. The prodominant flavor is woodsy- cedary to me. Bought 3 to start with. The first two were like a gift from heaven. The third was soft and limper than some machine rolled cigars. Bought 10 more. First of these was as loose and hot burning as the above and the second was almost plugged! Can't complain about the flavor, when you can get a good burn. Maybe the remaining 8 will be as good as the first two. But for now, this one seems to be all hat and no cattle.

"Great medium/mild cigar"
As with many other A.Fuente products, a very nice construction with a quality burn. This one was mild to medium with a good toasty, slightly spicy flavor that turned to a medium earthiness near the end. Quality and taste, but not personally strong enough for my preferences.

"A fine smoke"
Got a couple in a trade. Beautiful construction, draw was perfect and the burn was OK, needed a couple of minor touchups. I liked the flavor and I've been smoking a lot of darkside lately - this cigar for 5 bucks or so is a steal. This cigar affirms Fuente's reputation for making quality smokes and you don't need to go Opus, DC or Hemingway to get them.

Great cigar that lives up to its reputation. I smelled someone's cigar at a winery and it smelled great. I approached the gentleman and asked him what cigar he was smoking. That next week I went out and bought a 858. Great cigar, great draw, good flavor. I would definately recommend.

"Mighty fine"
I've been wanting to try an AF Flor Fina maduro for quite a while, but since the shop I visited had only the natural in stock, I thought I'd give this one a try. This is a great size for me, and this medium-bodied gem delivered all the goods: nice appearance, fine construction with a straight burn and an ash that held on almost to the halfway point. In addition, this stick delivers lots of solid tobacco flavor with a tasty coffee nature and bits of chocolate thrown in for good measure. I still want to try a maduro, but a box of some sort of 8-5-8s will be landing in my humidor in future days.

"Buy 8-5-8 - why wait?"
It is refreshing to find a cigar that has it all. Excellent construction, nice flavor, superb value! Like most Fuente cigars, this stick is a beauty. The cigar burned even with a soft ash and cool draw. The flavor was mild to medium, with subdued hints of chocolate and coffee. The value is nearly without compare. At $3 to $4 a stick, this cigar is a must try.

Very impressive cigar, if you like them mild. The flavor of this was amazing to the last draw. IMO for the price it is one of the best cigars I have ever smoked. Very flavorful with a creamy - flowery taste. Only complaint I had was my wrapper peeled, probably because of the humidor it was in.

"858 cammy"
As with all Fuente's, the construction was impeccable. That's where the accolades must end. This cigar was expertly crafted from carefully aged tobaccos, but all that effort somehow yielded a lame stick. Flavor was herbal with floral hints, but lacked richness and was dry with a thin, mercifully short grassy finish. It was like smoking a low tar version of a decent cigar.
