"A Good One!!"
I loved the complexity of this cigar. Great wrapper, feel, and appearance was first noticed and then the first taste was a wonder of caramel, coco butter taste. This quickly moved to a soft creamy flavor. It was a mild smoke at first and then turned medimum as I tasted roasted nuts, a hint of white pepper and semi sweet coco cream. The cigar then mellowed to a mild state and althought it still had a sense of semi sweet coco it finished with a birtch clean taste. I wanted the complexity to continue but all things have an end. An excellent 2/3 cigar and one I will try again. At $3.30/ea. you can't get much better!

"Spicy little gem"
I wanna tell you all about one of my favorite little medium to full bodied cigars. The Arturo Fuente Chateau Fuente Sun Grown is a robusto sized cigar at 4.5 x 50. The first time I smoked one, I went WAY TO FAST and really harshed my experience, but have since learned that just because they are small does not mean they are to be smoked fast. The Sun Grown starts with a kick. The first time I lit one I thought, holy shit I am never going to be able to smoke this thing. Like I said I smoked that one too fast and made the whole experience a downer, but now I light it up and take it slow. I usually can make it last about 50 minutes to an hour. The first two to four draws are pure SPICE. I mean black pepper spicy what the hell have I gotten myself into. But stick with it about 6 full draws and it settles down to a nice subtle spice with a tobacco sweetness that comes from the wrapper. I would love to tell you what they cost but I have consistently had 15 in my humidor since Christmas and have never paid for one. Everytime my dad goes to Phoenix he buys me anywhere from 10 to a box of them. But I think they are somewhere in the neighborhood of 4.50 to 5.50 a stick depending on the place. If you are in to a good cigar with a bit of a kick, the Arturo Fuente Chateau Fuente Sun Grown is worth a try. I actually like them better than a lot of the Fuente super premiums that sell for 10 bucks more per stick.

"Good smoke"
These are one of the cigars that have made me a Dominican fan. I enjoyed smoking this medium bodied, dense and oily cigar and I believe that this will get better with age. And at the current price per box you can afford to buy two boxes at a time.
For those cigar aficionados out there, I would describe this cigar as tasting notes of earth, wood, cedar and slight mineral flavors attacking your palate at once. But in plan english, good flavor for a price you cannot find anywhere else.
There are some burn issues from time to time, but this cigar catches up and it is nothing that a trusty torch cannot fix in a jiffy. My good friend Dave Barry lives on these and the larger Double Chateau. I might be following his foot steps.

"Great flavor, less than average burn"
I've had serious burn problems with all the chateaus and this one burns better than the rest, but still problematic. The flavor is fantastic! Medium to full bodied spice and a nice cedar flavor with a slight sweetness. Delicious. An excellent 25 - 30 minute escape.

"Tasty Little Morsels"
These are spicy and sweet, and if given a little time, will settle down and perform with very good manners. They have a "classic" sungrown flavor, by my lights.

"Mixed feelings"
Having enjoyed many Fuente offerings over the years, I find my loyalties in question. After working my way through a couple from the box, I found the first had taste, but one of the worst burns I've seen. I had trouble getting part of it to light with a torch. A 4 1/2" cigar with a 2" run is no fun. The second had an even burn, but not the same taste.

"Give it a few minutes"
I bought three since this was my first time smoking the Chateau. I usually smoke its bigger brother which is, in my opinion, still double the cigar. I bought all three in a store that wasn't so dedicated to its product's proper preservation, and in their newly purchased state, the Chateaus were pretty dry. I placed them in the humidor for a few days to let them settle and consumed the first one still just a bit prematurely. I have always been a fan of Arturo Fuente's consistency and so, though the first was not terrible at all, the second and third were much more of what I expected in what this company has to offer (everyone knows even the best cigars taste even better after being nurtured in a humidor for at least a short time). The second and third proved to be the same in performance: pleasant appearance with careful attention to construction; good draw; not the most even burn; able, smooth taste with complexity on par or a little better than another cigar at this price; pleasant, lingering aftertaste; proved to be a better and better smoke closing in on the band. I agree with a few of the reviews that the beginning 1/3 left something to be desired, but I didn't let go of it and was rewarded accordingly. Perhaps I was too eager and therefore smoked the first 1/3 too quickly, but it is still in my opinion that the buyer is purchasing about 2 inches of mediocrity. It proved its worth about halfway through when I started to really appreciate it. Overall, I have smoked better Fuente's and it is not a Hemmingway, but for $3.50 it is a good smoke. It is a cigar I will light up when I want something decent but reasonably priced. I will also be sure to let it sit in the humidor as long as my patience will allow.

"All hype"
I got about halfway through this cigar before I pitched it into the toilet where it belonged and lit up a Camacho. Stale flavor, lousy burn, rubbery aftertaste.

"grossly overrated"
I'm joining the camp that thinks the A. Fuente hype is completely undeserved. I found this cigar unrefined--a basic tobacco taste without the sun-grown goodness you can find in other cigars.

"AF Sungrown - Not bad"
Arturo Fuente's never seem to let me down. This little guy has alot of spice. Nice smooth draw, but the flavor was somewhat one dimensional. Burn was clean and even. Nice smoke. Nice for an everyday economical smoke.

"AF Quality"
AF Chateau line in all wrappers never seem to let me down. Keep in mind the sun grown gives this commonly mild bodied cigar some zing and spice. The cedar wrapper seems to jump out at you.

"Aging helps"
I just had one recently that rested in my humidor,(68-69 RH) for about 10 months. This last cigar compared to the ones smoked initially, was quite an improvement. It was much smoother, less spicey, and the burn was great. Due to the fact that these SG's are hard to come by, I suspect that they get to market as soon as possible. If they haven't been sitting at your retailer's humidor for a while, then give them some time.

Great smoke as you would expect from a sun grown wrapper. Ample spice but also sweet and hints of wood. Excellent value. Box worthy. Burn is salt/pepper and even.

"sweet&spicy"
This is a nice little smoke. Great smoke volume with a nice spicy finish. Also has flavors of burnt sugar or raw sugar. Nicely balanced. Looks were a little off had little bits of tobacco stuck to the wrapper giving it a spotted appearance.

"Much better after aging"
I reviewed this one about two months ago and found it too spicy. This one today was much better. The spice was there but not overwelming. Great burn, smoke and flavor. I am glad I waited.

"A great staple smoke!"
This cigar bursts with cedary flavor! I often smoke these as my less expensive staple cigar. Sometimes they initial puff will taste harsh but it quickly transforms to a strong bodied smoke. Cedar and earthy spice notes are what you will taste on a consistant basis. The cigar comes individually wrapped in cedar and construction may include veins. This is an excellent cigar for its value.

The Chateau Fuente (Sun Grown) is great cigar for its value. This is one of my staple cigars because of its high flavor/low price ratio. The only problem with this cigar is that it is too short!

"a great smoke"
This cigar looked great- beautiful label, nice cedar wrapping a beautiful satin-sheen deep brown. A very small vein, but no other blemishes. An impressive looking robusto.
Initially, the cigar had a good spice, and some nice caramel and coffee notes with a leather undertone. About 1/2" in, the spice all but disappeared, and a hint of cream on top of the already complex flavor. This continued through the cigar. It got a bit spicer, but everything else remained in place, flavor-wise.
The cigar burned uneven initially, but straightened out and burned nice through the cigar. The cigar was nice and firm, but did not have a tight draw at all.
A very pleasurable experience, and I got this smoke for $3, so it was a great value. If I find more at that price point, I will certainly buy them and smoke them, too. It will probably get better with a year or so in the humi, if I can forget about them and let them sit for that long!

Really liked the taste of the sun growns and this one is quite a value. Doesn't take all day to smoke. Has a sweet and smooth taste. I would say that this is a medium to full tasting smoke. These will probably even get better after resting in the humidor for some time.

"A real steal at $3.50"
Wow, this is a really good cigar. Not just a really good cigar for under 5 bucks, but a really good cigar period. The sun grown wrapper gives it a thick, rich, strong flavor. It's creamy and chocalately, and never hot or bitter. It's a short cigar, so it's great when you don't have much time. It's delicious. And did I mention they can be bought for about $3.50 apiece? What a deal.

"Great Morning Cigar"
I love this cigar with a cup of coffee or an expresso. It doesn't take all morning to smoke. It is a consistant cigar, with a long ash white-gray. It has a creamy smooth taste which is not over powering in the morning, mild to medium. The draw is excellent with a large amount of white smoke.

"Eh..."
The consensus seems to be that this is a good “everyday” smoke. I would agree in the sense that it was a pretty plain, nothing-fancy cigar, but I sure wouldn’t want to smoke one every day! The flavor was okay, mostly dominated by burning hardwood, but it was slightly metallic at times. Also, the ash was very poor. It frayed like the end of an old piece of rope as I smoked it. It was a very attractive cigar however. The packaging, color of the wrapper, length and gauge all balance nicely. Because of the price, I may keep a couple in the humidor just for looks!

"Excellent quality and value from this Fuente"
An attractive cigar wrapped in a sleeve of cedar and a small black band. The draw is a bit firm. It has an uneven burn which never quite staightens out. It starts off spicy, then develops a mellow creamy character. Medium-bodied with some light spice on the finish. The phrase "every-day smoke" gets thrown around alot, but it would apply to this smoke.

"pretty enjoyable little guy"
Agreeing with some others here, it did start a tad rough, but that faded fast. That's also where I got most of the peppery spice, which I always like. It mellowed out pretty quicky. Pretty nicely bodied, full. The last inch that I smoked left me wanting more, I smoked it down to the nub. The draw was a bit tight at first, but not incredibly so, got better middle down. Burned pretty evenly, on the hot side. I'll surely seek out some larger cigars with this wrapper. The price was right as well.

I read about this cigar being made a Chateau Fuente along with Opux so I thought I would try it. Excellent cigar for a 1/4 of the price of Opus. I bought a box and every cigar is a treat. They get better with time. The Sungrown wrapper is just strong enough.

"A personal Favorite"
I really enjoy this cigar. I find the first quarter inch or so a little dry and harsh tasting, but once this one starts burning there is pleasant woody/spiciness to it with just a hint of sweetness on the finish. The only complaint I have had with this one is that about one in four seems to have either a super loose draw or a super tight one. Other than that it is a winner.
