"A smooth kick to the palate"
A friend was nice enough to offer this short dark beauty. Easy to cut with a firm draw. Impressive amount of ash stayed on and fell with a thud. Razor sharp burn that never needed a touch-up. The smoky taste reminded of whiskey aged in oak barrels with a hint of coffee and spice flavors. Definitely a medium to full smoke which started out a bit strong and calmed down after the first inch. This Fuente is worth your attention and should get a reserved space in your humidor.

"I Think I Was Robbed..."
Much like one of the earlier reviewers, I think I may have just gotten a bad stick in the bunch for this smoke. A.Fuente is a great line, though never fully dependable as for all the stellar smokes I've had I've had a number of really disappointing ones. This one falls in that line, though ironically for the opposite reasons as the previous reviewer. This thing was horribly constructed, with a tight draw and one side simply refused to burn even under direct flame sometimes! The flavor tried to be robust but tried too hard and left my mouth feeling misused. It's so hard to get a good maduro these days it seems, and this didn't help me with that opinion.

"Nice smoke"
After trying the Double Chateau, wanted to give this robusto a try and enjoyed it. Similar construction and flavor to the double but in my mind smoother. The burn was good and aroma excellent. The trouble I have with this stick is that there are so many other quality cigars out there to choose from buying a bunch of these would get old a little to fast. Still it’s a good smoke and as we all know a few months in the humi will most likely change its complexities. I liked it better than the double though.

"Nice little maduro"
This is a great afternoon maduro. Not too powerful, not too light: just what you want from a maduro. Very much classic maduro flavor with plenty of cocoa with perhaps a bit of leather and spice. Not particularly complex--it was pretty much the same thing throughout. But that's ok when the consistent flavor is good flavor. I will say the wrapper looked a bit strange, as the leaf veins were unusually prominant; so much so it almost appeard as though the thing had been stitched together. That said, the burn was more than acceptable for a cigar in this price range. I don't mind a few touch-ups here and there when I've paid under $5 (this was actually from a contest winning, so I didn't even pay that!)

"loose binder"
I really do like these, but they are a little over priced and I have found that many of the ones I have tried are too loosly constructed and you end up chewing the tobacco rather than smoking it. The best thing about these is the aroma. You can find a good deal on them now and again at C-bid.

"My go-to smoke"
A consistently excellent short smoke. Nice dark oily wrapper, great pack and draw, even burn with plumes of rich smoke and a tight white-gray ash. Rich, sweet maduro flavor with just the right amount of spice for a medium bodied cigar. Another great cigar and value in the Fuente regular line.

"Summer at the ski resort"
Picked this one and two others up on my “Must Find” list at a boutique in Park City on my way to a three-day sales meeting. Lit this the first night on the empty ski deck at The Canyons and listened to a group of crazy girls across the commons whooping it up. I really liked this AF. Tasted wonderful, cedar and cocoa and that spicy sweetness that I can only describe as porterhouse and A1. Mm. I had to correct the burn more than once. I would like to ding the value rating. I paid $9 for it. Way more than the norm. That’s the price I pay for living where I do I suppose. I thought I might get a more reasonable price up in Park City, figured the clientele up there might not put up with the high price of pleasure in this Pretty Great State. Nope. Gouged. The cigar was pretty great though.

I had this thing in my humidor for over a year and decided to try it tonight. Great decision. Good construction and pre-light aroma and a strong side of medium flavor. There were a lot of oils on the wrapper and it tasted great. Gobs of creamy smoke and a white ash that held for over 2 inches. Excellent stick

"Average"
An average stick with excellent construction. This black beauty comes wrapped in a cedar sleeve, which once removed, reveals a slightly rough maduro wrapper with medium veining. Solid construction without soft spots. Easy light. Good draw. Even burn without the need for relights or corrections. Gray-white ash. Started with white and black pepper, spice, and a tannic quality. The first third then brought a woody sweetness, nuts, and warm leather. In the middle third, the woody flavor intensified and notes of dark chocolate danced in and out. The last third was more of the same, with a strong cedar taste. All in all, this 40 minute full-bodied smoke was fairly one-dimensional, and in my opinion, too cedary. I wonder if the cedar sleeve has imparted too much impact on the flavor profile of this stick? I am a fan of cedar notes, but not to the point where it is overly aggressive and overshadows the other flavors, which at least for me, was the case here. I have smoked many better maduros, so I cannot count this anywhere but in the bottom third, in my experience. However, true to Fuente products, the construction was impeccable.

"Surprisingly mild, but complex"
This cigar was jet black, at least compared to the other marudos around it. I was expecting a kick-in-the-head type of smoke. It was anything but. It was mild and sweet all the way to the nub with subtle changes in spice and nuttyness. The burn was perfect and the construction great despite a large vein running from bow to stern. Nice white ash and a lot of smoke to boot. A little faster smoke than I had hoped, but still well worth the 3 dollar price tag.

Enjoy

"Excellent construction"
One of the longest ashes I've had on any cigar to date, says something for the construction. Ash was well over half the cigar. Anywho it was medium to full bodied cigar with a pretty good balance of spice and cedar, chronic harshness clouded it a bit but overall a well made maduro with moments of greatness.

"Ahhhhh.... Very Nice"
This is a wonderful mid week treat. The draw is just tight enough to make you feel like there's something there. The flavor is very full for a medium bodied cigar. It was cool and tasty right down to the last inch. The spicy rich flavor makes every draw worth savoring. The BIG surprise is how long this little guy burns. Took a good hour to burn. I'll be sure to stash a few of these in my Box.

"great short smoke"
I've been looking for a good "short smoke" and I think I've got my man. This cigar looks great with the ceder wrapping and looks even better with it off, a nice dark wrapper and seemingly flawless construction. Pre light draw was spicy and the cigar overall gave the impression it was going to take you for a ride. Upon lighting I was surprised by just how smooth and creamy it was, building up in strength as it burned. I got notes of coffe and cream along with some nuttiness and some pepper near the end. Bottom line, best Fuente value and a nice 30-40 minute stick that fits in just fine when you don't have much time.

"Tasty and very smokable"
Just like the natural and sun-grown versions, this maduro is partially wrapped in a sleeve of cedar. It's a bit rough in appearance but is otherwise well-made. This is by far the best performing of the three: mostly even burn, good draw, lots of smoke, and a well-formed ash that holds for almost the first half of the smoke. It's spicy, earthy, and sweet; medium to full in body, but smooth and balanced and not overpowering. Past the band it has a harsh tobacco flavor so i wasn't quite able to nub it. Leaves a small buzz afterwards with a cigar-box finish. My favorite of the Chateau Fuente robustos.

"Very Smooth"
A very smooth cigar, the Chateau Fuente Maduro has a very spicy character with the initial light-up that immediately mellows out to flavors of strong coffee, leather, cream and chocolate with sweet floral and caramel notes laced through-out. It has a very loose draw with mouthfuls of chewy smoke and scents of coffee, leather and sweet spices. I am used to a firmer draw, but if you can get past a very loose draw this cigar is quite enjoyable. After the first 2" the flavors build-up to espresso coffee, caramel and sweet leather. The finish is mellow and smooth with flavors of espresso coffee, caramel, cherry blossoms and other sweet floral notes, Remarkable!

"A Fuente is A..."
...usually better. I may have gotten a bad one here guys. Pre-light draw was too loose. As I went on, it got worse. By the last 1/3, I was able to blow a shower of sparks out of the other end. It whistled and everything! Extra points for the fireworks effects I suppose. I think there was a tunnel all the way down the length of this one. Flavor was pretty bland also. I wasn't too impressed, sorry to say. I should have coughed up the extra 2 dollars for a Hemingway Short Story. Pitched it with over 2 inches left and I usually nub the Fuentes.

"Better with age"
I received two of the stubbies in Nov 04 and promptly smoked one. It had a nice cap, uneven burn, traditional tobacco taste with hints of leather and dirt. (I paintball frequently so yes I know what dirt taste like) Anyhow, I just smoked my second stick today and in the middle of this smoke and got brief hints of cinnamon. The cedar wrap left the finish a little dry this time around but it was a nice smoke. The burn was even and the salt/pepper ash held up nicely.
