Has to be one of the best non ISOMs, great construction, body and strength. Never dissappointing.

I finally broke down and tried my 1st Fuente. Why did I wait so long -what a smoke! Perfect draw, perfect burn, incredibly tasty!

"class"
Well, my champion Giants celebration cigar was an excellent choice. I only regret that it had to be a robusto because it's too cold out. I absolutely LOVE the beautiful marble-like wrapper around densely packed tobacco. Delicious aroma, flavors of cedar and toasted marshmallow abound. Perfect burn, smooth draw and a nice long finish. Who could ask for anything more? Oh yeah.. how about a Giant repeat in 2009.

"Nice but not great"
Excellent draw and burn with lots of smoke. Very good strength which stayed throughout. Started with woody and grassy flavors and turned into pretty much a straight tobacco flavor but it was pretty decent though hard to describe.

"Addicted to these"
I cannot get enough of these I just had one of these then a RASS, and this Don Carlos is just to damm good. The consistency is mind blowing the taste is great with floral notes, and cocoa and perfect balance of spice. It made the RASS bland.

"Some burn problems"
Great looking and tasting robusto. Some fairly major issues with uneven burn early on. With some effort the last half went well.

"Nice cigar but not worth it"
A very smooth cameroon blend. It burned a little erratically and required a couple touch ups, but otherwise the construction was solid. Some vegetable glue smeared near the foot and around the band was distracting. Lots of cedar and spice -- cloves and kitchen spices -- over a woody base that made for a very easygoing and interesting but not outstanding smoke. One of the better cameroons out there, but I'd have trouble coughing up ten dollars for another one.

"Memorable Smoke"
I smoked one of these alongside a Partagas Serie D No. 4 and there was really no contest. This cigar had so much more character and depth. Burned straight and cool. Creamy and complex with a lush generous draw, but solidly rolled.

"Excellent cigar but"
The Don Carlos line is definitely a cut above the standard Fuente's, and the pricing of these cigars reflects that. The construction and burn were excellent. Although I was expecting a little more out of the flavors, I can't say it was a dissapointment. However, IMHO, the Flor Fina 8-5-8 maduro could rate as a very close second, at almost half the price.

"Top of the heap"
This is one fine smoke and is possible the finest in the line. Typical Fuente construction, perfect burn outstanding draw, great ash, ect. This cigar has hints of mellow wood, tea, caramel and a tangy cammie finish, which I love. This is just an outstanding smoke.

"It gets better"
I bought a box a few month ago. I had to try one about a week after I put them in my humidor. To be honest I am a padron man and I was just a little disappointed in the cigar. I left the for six months and took another one out the other day. Man was I surprised. The start was much better and the taste was great. Ive smoked the great X and I think this stick with some age beats them hands down. So much so I got another box. Six more months and will see if I can wait that long. Might have to ware glove on the next one.. it was that good.

"Outstanding Cigar"
From wooden box--Reserva Superior Limitada. Terrific pre-smoke aroma. Very well constructed--tight, but with easy draw. Excellent flavors from the first draw. Wood, toast, vanilla, hint of cedar--a full bodied smoke. Slightly uneven burn, but contained. It was like a Cuban disguised as a D.R. cigar. Flavors gathered complexity with the smoke. Truly enjoyable until the very short end. Recommended for all humidors--that I'm sure will get better with age. Truly for the connoisseur of a fine cigar.

"Great as expected"
This solid and oily robusto smokes extremely well: the draw, burn and ash are all top-notch. It's packed with flavor: mellow wood, dark tea, and hints of caramel with a long, tangy finish. Too expensive to smoke all the time, but great for an occasional treat.

"Fuente is forever"
This is a top quality cigar. It gives the smoker all of the wanted experience of cigar herfing. Great Goodness, I often wonder what AF could craft with top flight cuban tobacco!!! I enjoyed this cigar for the strength that it offers. I would buy a box...err another box in the future. Why? Because it provides unbridled pleasure. Bravo, AF, Bravo.

"Is there a bad Fuente?"
Another winner, filled with coffee flavors. It started to burn a tad crooked, and then lo and behold, it corrected w/o a touch up. This was my first Don Carlos, and I liked it at least as much as the Hemingways...great smoke.

"Best Fuente so far"
In the interest of full disclosure I brought this cigar at a cheesy corner newspaper stand in Atlantic City and as I cut it I heard a loud cracking noise (it was way too dry). What was to follow though was a rich & rewarding flavor that I seldom experience from Fuente cigars with the exception of the Opus series. It was so good I have just brought 2 Don Carlos #2s. This is the best Fuente I have ever had and if I can get the same nutty & complex flavors then I won't mind paying more than $10-$12 for this cigar every now and then.

"Top Notch"
This was a superb smoke. I’ve tried several other cigars from the Fuente family, and none have disappointed, but I shied away from the Don Carlos line, I guess because the packaging closely resembles the other standard lines, and I thought the Don Carlos may be a slightly better, but overpriced version of the same cigars. Boy was I wrong! The Don Carlos is an exceptional mid-body smoke with abundant flavors, and not too spicy. The complex flavors and wonderful taste lasted all the way to the last inch. I didn’t smoke it to a nub because the flavors started turning grassy and I didn’t want to ruin the wonderful aftertaste this cigar left on my palate. This would make an ideal daily smoke, if only it was more reasonably priced, but it’s so good I’m going to keep a steady supply in the humi. I learned after smoking it that this is Arturo’s favorite line even above the Fuente Fuente. He prefers the #2 vitola, so that’ll be my next purchase.

"lip smacker"
This stick is a nice way to get your lips smacking with lot of taste and big smoke. The foot lit well and held a salt and pepper ash. The notes were of a rich toasty and cedary taste with some spicy flavors on the finish. A very nice cigar on the medium to full side.

"Good, not great"
I don't know if it is because I've been on a Cuban kick lately, or b/c the hype on this line is so great, but I expected more from this Don Carlos. Standard Robusto vitola - plain brown wrapper with medium veins. Easy light and smooth draw. Impeccable construction with a white ash that held for 1.5 inches! I only ashed twice the whole stick! Started with a very interesting mild spice and wood, then developed a mild spice and cedar taste that lasted the rest of the journey. I kept waiting for it to open up into something more, but alas, it never did. Still a very nice smoke for 45 minutes, but for the price, I've had better.

"Yes"
This is a great cigar albeit overpriced somewhat. Got one with some age on it in a pass and it was fantastic, more rounded than the fresh ones that can be a real kicker. Construction on all of these AFDC cigars is exemplary. In the NC category, hard to think of any robusto that I like more.

"Very Good Cigar"
This is a nice looking cigar. It is attractive with a perfect looking wrapper. It is dark and shines with oils. It has an even burn and a perfect draw. The flavor is smooth, mild, and creamy. It starts with strong flavors of cedar and coffee with rich cocoa flavors towards the end.

"Very nice cigar."
Very Nice Wraper. Excellent construction. Nice smooth, Burned even and slow, did not have to relight. Gray ash. Mild plus strength. Flavor was sort of complex, started out sweet with some spice then some cocoa bean, was creamy and full smoke. I really enjoyed this cigar and it is one of my standby favorites

"Good, but not Great"
No doubt this cigar is brilliantly constructed, very firm to the touch with a good draw. However, in the flavor department I felt I should be getting more. It's not that it's bad, but I'm reminded of when I first saw The Terminator -- it had been so hyped, I could never live up to my expectations. Same with the Don Carlos Robusto -- clearly a fine cigar, but the Earth isn't moving. For the money, I'd definitely look elsewhere -- a Punch Grand Cru II Maduro or a Padron Anniversario Diplomatico Maduro surely are more appealing.

Definately not what they were in '99. Flawless cigars sit aside ones that have marked, veiny and light colored wrappers. Best bought by the single cigar, as the best of the box are reminiscent of its past years of greatness. All in all their production se
