"Love the taste, not the draw"
What a great tasting stick at a great price. However, I wish it would exhude more smoke. I had a hard time pulling, but I didn't have to retouch or relight. It was nutty and creamy, which is what these sticks are known for.....I only wish I could have tasted more of it!

"Dessert before dinner"
I like Arnie's description below -- the Choix supreme is a real sweetheart. It starts off nonchalant, just light toasted tobacco flavors... but after an inch it starts to flirt a little. Floral aromas, a little sweetness. Midway the flavors get a little spicier. It sidles up next to you, slips an arm around you, and whispers in your ear. A little further down and things get much...earthier. Great construction, and a nice ash. Medium bodied at most, smooth, and delicious. A perfect date!

"I was wrong."
I stated in my first review that they weren't burning. I took one apart and realized they were still too moist inside. Dryboxed them for a couple of days and BAM!!!!!! Amazing flavor, pre-light flavor and aroma are so good I almost don't want to light the cigar. Spice, earth, and floral flavors. I could even write one of those weird snobby reviews with big words and stuff.

"A favorite"
This is in my top 5 all-time favorite cigars. I've never had the burn issues that have troubled the other reviewers. This cigar is like a cup of fresh cream with a little honey and nutmeg. It's so smooth and delicious. If the PSD4 is a Filet Mignon and the Monte #2 is a refined Bordeaux, then the ERDM is a perfectly crafted Creme Brulee. Delicious.

"a versatile value Habano"
AOM-ABR07. I've had a couple from this cab that burned erratically, but a vast majority have been spot on. Woody start, followed by some nuts and trademark Cuban earth. A little sweeetness comes and goes, and nutmeg on the final third. Since it never gets beyond a medium body, it's good any time of day. An excellent value.

"WTF is wrong with these?"
They don't burn worth a damn. The flavor and aroma are pure bliss but it's like the wrapper is too thick or something. It ain't my humidity, I keep it in the low 60s. If these burned as good as they tasted, they would be a top 10 smoke!

"oh my god..."
Are all CC's like this? Holy mother. It's a fairly mild smoke compared to many - I would call it a full flavored mild or a mild medium. The amazing experience is how consistent it is, and any harshness has been totally expunded from this experience. Near the end I started inhaling to see if I could find any harshness. I didn't. As I inhaled it it felt like I was getting Healthier! Truly beautiful. I have smoke OpusX and find it to be a DISTANT second to this true cigar experience. I gave the Opus a 10 - now I regret it. I won't give this a 10 because what else might CC's hold? This smoke rated at a 92 I think in Cigar Afic. I can't imagine smoking anything better. I have a box, so I'm loving life.

"fantastic"
I haven't been having much luck with CC's recently until this one came along. Perfect draw (unlike most CC's which always seem tight or worse ) and burn with a nice light grey ash. The taste started out semi sweet and a tad mild but shortly developed a much stronger and complex taste which was honey and nutty. The taste stayed throughout never lapsing. No hint of harshness or bitterness towards the end. A great cigar and I finally found a CC I would actually love to try again.

"Well worth the wait"
I have been sitting on a 50 cab from Feb '02, and what a reward. I have now had four and each is consistent in their honey flavour and mouthfeel, with vanilla behind it and hardly any of the heavier earthy flavours. A fantastic smoke, I don't think these are going to last very much longer in my humidor!

"Wonderful!"
I found this to be a wonderful smoking experience! Construction & presentation were great, as well as the burn. Very smooth & creamy, with a spicey kick by the end. The box I got was young, so I can't wait for these to get some age on them!

"That Is It Perfect 10"
I was so excited when I received this smoke and had to smoke it right away. The pre-light aroma was exquisite. Immediately after I torched her I tasted thick and spicy flavor that lasted till I burned my fingertips from the hot knub. Perfection construction. This was a wonderful gift!

"Happy b-day to me"
I had one more of these waiting for me in my humidor . It was just calling to me, wondering when my birthday would come. Well, today is the day and I have to say it was worth the wait. The first one I smoked was very very good, but this one was very very VERY VERY good! It smoothed to the point of silk and the flavor seemed to be more of the true Cuban flavor that people swear is inherant in the soil. The burn was just a little off, but otherwise this cigar was amazing and a good way to commemorate my big day.

"Great, but buy Dominican"
Those of you who know me understand that I used to review cigars on my own for a long tiem, so I kept a journal. In that journal are about 1200 entries. Some of my reviwes ar from that journal, and some are recent. THIS one takes me back to the beginning of the journal, it was entry number 17. I loved this cigar as a new smoker because it was unique in flavor w/o being over powering. I have since found that the dominican is all of that and then some, at about 1/4 the price. This is a great cigar, but not the holy grail. Try the dominican and you will get a very good representation of this cigar despite the soil differences in Cuba.

"better with age"
I bought these 3 years ago from a vendor in Oz, and smoke 2 of them right off the bat, trying like hell to taste what everyone else was raving about. I just couldn't get much out of it, so I parked the rest in my 'dor until today. Having smoked one today, I can finally see what the fuss was about in '03; creamy and sweet with a long finish, reminiscent of cedar and white chocolate. I need to get more, but there are so many others to try!

"One of the best"
The El Rey Del Mundo line remains the single best value in quality Havanas. The kicker is that the quality is excellent, not just good as is the case when most people speak of "value".
When young, the Choix Supreme has a very explosive, peppery taste, and seems no better than a Juan Lopez #2 or a similarly spicy cigar. But when matured for even just a year, this cigar really takes off.
The flavors are wonderfully complex with "fruity" tastes of raisins, caramel, and roasted cashews. This sweetness is perfectly tempered by a mellow tobacco flavor and general earthy tones. The construction is very good, and even the solid, light grey ash is complex. The wrapper is nothing special, but this is a cigar that is outstanding in many respects; including the price.
I am not an expert, but I have been smoking Havanas for over 15 years, and this is definitely one of the best cigars I have smoked.
For about $6.50 apiece, it is hard to go wrong with this enjoyable cigar.

"hmmmmm...."
Okay, would much rather have a Ramon Allones or Bolivar robusto. This smoke looked great, burnt very quickly. Not strong enough for my taste, light to medium bodied in my opinion. Started off with sweet floral notes, with very mild ginger and other spices. The middle portion was more of the same, but more smooth and well balanced. The last inch and a half had this grassy sort of harsh taste that I have experienced with other El Reys that I'm not too keen on. Maybe the one I smoked was a little young, it didn't seem to have many complexities or nuances of flavors.

"Highly recommended"
Moderately spicy at first, they move quickly to a classically "twangy" creamy, sweet medium bodied smoke with enough character to keep you coming back for more. Fine burn and draw. Been smoking from a box of '03s and looking forward to the '05s.

"A Supreme cabinet"
To Dr. Wu...I just received a cabinet of 50 from the same batch you got your box from. I agree with you, this is one UNDERRATED smoke! They have this reputation for being so mild, almost bland they're so light, and I wish to dispell that rumor right now. The cab I got, SXF-MAY.05, has some of the darkest wrappers I've ever seen on Habanos, even including some of the Edicion Limitadas...I've had a few dress boxes of 25 in the past 18 mnths, and they have a kind of "rough" look about them, but who cares? The proof is when you lit one up, and let the cigar take you through it's stages. The oily wrapper adds to the general nice feeling in hand, and I, for one, happen to love the size. I love Robustos, too, but something about these Hermosos No. 4 that make them seem a perfect size and ring (48 X 5.0) The tastes are not only pronounced and awesome, but in oerfect compliment to each other. Very spicy, peppery and woody, with coffee and chocolate notes as well. The finish is woody and long, but I can't decide if it's cedar or what. This cigar is one of those hidden gems that offer great value and strong character. I would hearttily encourage anyone to try to find a cabinet of these, especially from this batch. It's recent enough that their are probably many dealers that have them in stock. I know that my supplier, Top Cubans in Switzerland have them, and more than a few cabs as well.

"UPGRADE"
Sorry, can't help it. Smoked the 2nd one I had last night (with Pinot Noir) and this is just a fantastic cigar. This one was real young (SXF MAY 05) I have learned, but tasted as though it was well aged with delicious, medium bodied, Creamy smoke. The only thing I can compare flavor of these to is maybe a real nicely aged Davidoff Anniversario No 1 = CREAMY to the max. Am ordering a box immediately because I can get same factory and date codes and since they are smoking so damn good right now, I will go through the box in short order. Am looking forward to a bunch of great fall nights with these watching the Red Sox win another World Series and the Patriots continue their domination of the NFL.

"Choix Supreme is a good name"
Received a sample pack of 5 different vitolas the other day, no clue what factory or date codes are, unfortunately. This was a very nice smoke, perfect burn, excellent construction, good light to medium bodied flavors. Would not hesitate to grab a box when a good sale comes around. Really impressed with volume of tasty, creamy good flavored smoke out of this. Great with beer, whiskey & ginger, lighter red wine like Pinot Noir.

"Ehhhh"
Not that great in my opinion. Burn was off although construction was nice with few veins. Draw was a bit too loose for me. Started off creamy and gave an earthy flavor with a cedar/coffee short finish. It was very smooth throughout. I would imagine this smoke better with age. Mild to medium bodied.

"Nice"
This is a very tasty smoke! This review is from an '01 Robusto. Rich, brown wrapper with minimal veins. Good construction wiht no soft spots. Bland prelight aroma, but flavorful prelight draw reminiscent of raisins. Easy light. Even burn without the need for corrections or relights. Smooth draw. Gray ash. Started with floral, herbaceous, and leather notes in the first third that melded its way into a rotation of cocoa and vanilla in the middle third. There was also a noticeable "twang", or tangy flavor that danced in and out. The last third brought a revival of the herbaceous and floral notes with hints of wood. All in all, this one hour complex smoke was enjoyable and rich. Would pair well with coffee or rum.

"Very good, waiting on great"
I couldn't wait so I had the first from a fresh box, INL Oct. 2004, one week in the 'dor after receipt. Yes, it tasted young, but the promise of what is to come was unmistakable. I tasted coffee, leather and soil, but very smooth. Prior to this one, the last I had was 2 yrs old, and I will be holding the majority of these for a repeat of that very special experience. Slight burn issues, but I was outside.

"7.67 Overall???"
This is a quality cigar! Only setback was the looser than normal draw. Other than that, good burn, good construction, medium bodied, toasty finish, pepper/spice tones first 1/8 inch. Nice complexities midway through and the spice mellows out to a pleasant flavor that is hard to describe. This bad boy has personality.

"Once again, a great smooth robusto"
Second try at the Choix Suprème, and all for the good of it. This sample, bought in Milan and aged at least 4 months in the humidor, was particularly pleasant, not overwhelmingly powerful but with nice and well blanded flavours and an overall smoothness you do not expect of a product from Cuba. Excellent smoke, at par with many great cuban robustos

I agree with SeanGAR... Even though this cigar is slightly thinner than a true robusto, do not be fooled- THIS CIGAR IS NO SLOUCH. "Great value"
For the price of a box of many lesser cigars, you can instead buy a box of ERDM Choix Supreme, one of the best cigars in this size range. Slightly narrower than a robusto, this cigar is well rolled and smells wonderful. Medium body, complex flavors I can only describe as decidedly sweet, earthy, roasted coffee/cocoa. I've had a bunch of these, they have been quite consistent and I like this one a lot.

I had a Choix Supreme the other day, and although it was a very young cigar, it was still quite good. Most say to age these 3-5 years, and if you can, that is great, most can't, and this cigar really doesn't have to have that much age.
Beautiful appearance, excellent draw and burn, and full of flavor. A great after dinner cigar to warm the pallet and lead into a full-bodied cigar.

I'd looked forward to this smoke as it had been recommended. Well...the burn was uneven, the wrapper came loose, the draw was hard and produced a mean amount of smoke, and the ash was weak. On the plus side, the woody flavours were consistent. Not that "supreme" at all.

This hurts. ERDM's one of my favorite non-cuban lines. Got a box. Gifted some, smoked some. Very inconsistent. Last one canoed and never did get on track. That good cuban taste & smoke only stayed with the first 1"-1.5". A wrassling match indeed. A true disappointment but quality typical of most cubans these days.
