"smooth as silk"
one of the best cigars out there bar none. they are good straight out of the box and get even better with a little age. full on flavor but not harsh at all. highly recommended and at 63.95 from JR they are one of the best values around.

"even better after aging"
These are pretty good sticks out of the box. But after sitting in your humidor for a year or two, they're even better. I hadn't had one in a while, but I pulled one out the other day that had been resting for probably close to two years. It was full flavored (but not harsh), creamy, and very tasty. I nubbed it out. Delicious.

"Whats all the hubbub"
I bought this cigar from the reviews on this site and I was disappointed. Although the cigar looked very good, the draw was bad and it burned a little uneven. But when I was able to get a decent draw the taste was quite nice. Almost worth the $3.50 I paid. I will try this one again sometime, just not anytime soon.

"Very good smoke for not a lot of money"
This cigar had a great-looking dark brown wrapper with a nice glossy sheen. I wanted to give it an 8 for appearance, but I had to ding it a point for the big ugly vein (more like a small twig) running the entire length of cigar. (El Rey wraps their cigars in white tissue paper, so I didn't see this before I bought it.) Very well made cigar though. I was afraid it was going to be too tight, but I was wrong. Beautiful draw and a perfectly even burn all the way. No relights or touch-up lights necessary. This stick took a while to get rolling though. Most of the first 1/3 was bland, thin, and one-dimensional. But then the flavors started kicking in and by half-way, this cigar was going full bore, with lots of flavor nuances and a nice, thick, billowing smoke. A little bitterness built up near the end, but along with it came a nice spicy note and a taste that reminded me of unsweetened baking chocolate. I smoked this thing as far as I could without burning my fingers and lips. Very enjoyable. If the first half had been as good as the rest, I would given it an 8 for flavor. When you factor in the relatively low price for these, you really can't go wrong firing one up.

"First Time"
This was the first time I have smoked an ERDM and I loved it. Well built. Almost no burn issues. I thought the flavor would be stronger for the size, but turned out to be a rich kind of nutty/woody flavor. The value is also amazing. Loved it, one of my new favorites.

"Great Value"
Excellent cigar in every way. If you like mild cigars because you're in search of a smooth cigar, then switch your mentality; you can have a full-bodied cigar that smokes just as smooth. THis is a rich, oily cigar with soooo much flavor. The value is impecible.

"Nice"
To start off I like the tissue as it is more elegant than celo and better than nothing at all so for appearance thats a plus for me. The cigar is well constructed with beautiful dark leaves with a good taste and the color does not come off so that makes me believe this is well fermented traditionally. Easily cut with my Xikar nice pre-smoke draw smell/taste. Lights nicely with a very good draw I like a rather loose draw but not too loose with a heavy full feel which this cigar possesses. Large gage ample amounts of cool smoke great taste. One of my favorites.

"Not a bad smoke at all. Great Value!"
Construction was excellent. Draw was good. Flavor was a little bitter at first but quickly mellowed out.

"Excellent flavor, questionable construction"
I was so excited to try this cigar and was very disappointed with its construction. The cigar burned very unevenly all the way down one side of it. I also found it difficult to get a solid draw. I ended up having to stop smoking it due to the burn. However, the part that I did smoke tasted great and I will give this cigar another chance in the future. I just hope the construction is better next time.

"That is better"
El Rey is a well built smoke. I have to disagree with the idea that you smoke them "fresh" though. As will many fine long-filler smokes, time can often make a difference. That is the case with this cigar. With just 4 additional humidor months at 65% RH, this cigar has added a dimention of smoothness that improves my previous rating. I love the maduro El Reys the most, but they really don't make any bad cigars.

"good cigar if smoked fresh"
Ordered a 5 pack online. Flavor was good, earthy and creamy, but construction was not consistent. Smoked over a few weeks, 2 of the 5 cigars were dried up and falling apart, the tissue paper wrapping they come in does not keep them as fresh as cellophane would, I think. Overall a good cigar, but somewhat risky.

"Good cigar for the price"
I bought 5 from JR Cigar and I am impressed with the quality of these cigars. For a little over 2 bucks a stick, this robusto has a strong, but not overpowering flavor. A very nice smoke to have on a night out. I did have some construction issues with one cigar in the pack, but I am hoping that it was a fluke, I will be ordering more of these.

"Solid plain smoke"
This is a well built smoke that has an even draw and burn. This cigar seemed to go from mild to strong in a few puffs and then back again all the time. It was a bit unusual and I may like it more the next time knowing what to expect. Not a bad cigar for the price.

"Aged to Perfection"
I buddy of mine knew I am a big fan of ERDMs and gifted this gem. Just as I posted a fews months ago on this stick and then some. He told me he had this stick forever and decided to let me take it for a ride and WOW! The best stick that I have smoked all year;that includes the Cubans too! The draw was perfect; like that of my Diamond Crown Maximus'.

"Best Bang for the Buck"
This stick is great. I just finished a whole box. The were perfect in contruction with that same old unique sweetness El Reys are know for. As soon as you peel back the tissue your mouth starts to water. Medium in body with complex flavors of richness. They taste different then most sticks. I could taste a little of the cedar in from my humi and a light floral tone and lots of sundried sweetness.

"Rich, Smooth and Creamy"
This is a rich, smooth, mild cigar. Great, consistent flavors - start to end. It's nutty, creamy, and relatively mild -- surprising because it's a dark, tough-looking cigar. For the price, perhaps the top cigar I've tried.

"Nectar"
This is a classic. The tissue paper is a little precious, but aside from that, this baby rocks. I have loved this cigar from day one, and day one was a long time ago. It will fill your sinuses with the nectar of the gods. You might sneeze. Go with it. The gods will understand, and approve. Damn fine smoke.

Strong flavour, smooth as butter and long long ash. It nice to get a beautiful looking cigar that tastes as good as it looks. These have become my favourite everyday smokes. The only problem has been a tight draw on the odd one.

"Just Win, Baby!"
Great looking cigar. The Oscuro wrapper is dark and thick, like leather wrapped around the binder and leaf. Smoked only one so far, right out of the mail with no time to rest at all. Was exceedingly smooth. Long grey/white ash. Personally would like more flavor and suspect time in the humidor will bring that out. Very impressive cigar to find at this price and have to recommend highly even if they remain mild. The construction, draw and smoothness are too good to pass up at this price from JR Cigar.

I just got a 5 pack of these from JR Cigar for $11.25 (not including $5.00 shipping for my entire order, which had more than just the 5 pack)
Very nice cigar. Smooth smoke for a maduro.
Gets a little spicier about halfway through.

"Love it!"
I bought a sample stick based on the reviews and I'm glad I did! Beautiful appearance & construction, perfect burn, and a smooth, dense smoke with great flavor. It actually approached a great cuban-grade cigar. I bought a box of 20 for $60 ar JRCIGAR and even got a free ERDM hat as a promo! IMHO there is not a better $3 robusto on the market today. Have yet to read a bad review. A definite no-brainer.

"one of the best for under $4.00"
This cigar comes in a presentation of tissue wrapping, it has a dark maduro color to it and those little flavor buds that lew rothman likes to hype up, but other than that it gives a good amount of smoke, that is sweet and smooth sort of chocolatey, and has a touch of a kick at the end. I was impressed with this cigar and have smoked many two to three times that price that weren't nowhere close to being as good as this one was, highly recommend it!

"El Rey del Mundo Robusto"
One of the best cigars on the market today! I can't say enough good things about this cigar. Flawless construction, excellent presentation, and flavors so deep, spicy and bold that it would take me a page alone to describe the complexity of this cigar. El Rey "the King" definately describes this cigar as it reigns over just about every other robusto including most Cubans!
