"can be one of the world's best"
Can be, but isn't always. I've always raved about this being one of the world's finest cigars, regardless of price - with wonderfully complex flavor, elegant smooth wrapper, superb draw and huge smoke. I'd normally rate these a 10 on every scale, which I did here. That I've met, eaten and smoked with Jorge doesn't bias me to that position. However, the most recent box is noticeably different [less good] flavor, rougher coarse wrapper, somewhat tight draw with less smoke. At first I thought they had to be counterfeit, but they had the proper serial numbered bands, so I sent the serial numbers to Jorge, who confirmed they were genuine. So, even Padron Anniversary's can have a bad hair day. If it happens again, this rating will have to change.

"Qunitessential"
This is the quintessential grand corona. I normally prefer a robusto size, but this is my favorite grand corona - hands down. While this may not have the most beautiful wrapper, that is the only drawback. Gotta love the box press! And the flavors.... WOW!!! The one delivers from start to finish, gaining in complexity and spice as you smoke it. Keeping the band on is not an option, you will smoke down beyond it - without a doubt.

"Satifaction from head to foot"
I'm not a Padron smoker in general. I prefer a better balance of value when I'm spending my own money. My cigar club owner gave me this one. It's a well built cigar, tight and firm- top tier for sure. Beautiful maduro wrapper (I only smoke maduro's) Lit and burned evenly and consistently throughout. Good draw, not loose or tight. First half was milder than I expected - chocolate, smooth, very full texture even if the flavor was mild. It built at the halfway mark, good finish, not a trace of bitterness. A little pepper was added to the back of the palet. For me this is a special occassion smoke for sure. You know? When you're having a great experience and want to have zero chance that the cigar you smoke will detract from the perfection? I've read other says that this doesn't represent the best of the Padron line (or even the best value). I look forward to exploring this line further to find the value smoke with this kind of experience. It's a 10 in overall experience for me, because I don't have to factor in price. With price factored it would be an 8 - 8.5.

"started slow, but then..."
Aged 2 years. Attractive dark box press (like all PAM64s). Body started mild then shifted to medium with an inch or so being medium-full. The flavor was quite complex. The cigar started with a somewhat boring muted_cocoa.soil.pepper flavor that would have been OK for a $5 smoke. After the first inch though, this one came to life. In succession the flavors winded through; cocoa.leather.pepper, chocolate.leather.pepper, chocolate.cherry_soda.cream, savory.cream, savory.cream.espresso.pepper, cocoa.dry_grass and finally, at the very end a disappointing savory.ash.pepper. The draw started a bit forced, but opened up about the time the flavors did, burn was somewhat off in places. While quite pricey, this is a sophisticated, complex smoke that was enjoyable.

"Not bad, pricey"
Pretty looking cigar with a nice burn. Flavor was average and the price was high. I can find better deals, and there are better Padrons too.

My new next door neighbor gave me one of these and it was wonderful. I really enjoy the maduro 1964 a little more then the regular wrap. Full of flavor and lots of smoke with perfect contruction.

"dissapointing"
This padron just didn't cut it. It looks great alittle toothy not as smooth as most 64s , But great color. This cigar starts out slow and just doesn't have much of an identity at first. then around half way the flavor kicks in and smacks of nuts. Just as I was gettin into it for the last third it run like a scalded dog down one side . I could have paddled for miles with this canoe. Not your typical padron , The Opus x Petit lancero is a much better choice.

"Great after a slow start"
A long, slim, and pressed cigar with a rich brown wrapper but a sloppily glued on cap. It has an uneven burn which eventually straightens out; the draw is a bit firm at first but similarly this also improves. It takes an inch or so to warm-up, and when it does it delivers the delicious flavors expected in this line: coffee, dark-chocolate, cedar, and spice, all smooth and balanced. It gets better with each puff. A good value if you can find them at $10 or less.

"VERY NICE ... AND ALMOST WORTH THE PRICE"
This is one fine cigar. Almost worth the $9 asking price. Silky smooth medium body. Rolled and box pressed to perfection. The draw is so fine, the cigar almost smokes itself. A very delicous mocha flavor, hints of toast, a trace of nuts and cinnamon. Not overly complex, but simply delicious. I just wish they were a little bit cheaper in price. Worth picking up a five pack for special occasions. I am still under the impression that, pertaining to Padron, pick up a box of a mid-sized shape in their "regular line" for around 80 bucks and put them to rest for a couple of years ... (if you have the humidor room) ... and they will compare quite favorably with these 1964 Anniversaries.

"One of the best"
Picked up a couple of these at the local to finely givem a try. With all the hipe I was expecting a lot and man was I suprised how it delivered. This cigar is a beauty to behold and to smoke. Class all the way with perfect construction and burn. The flavor was the most complex i've ever had. The flavor was constantly changing with black pepper and spice then cocoa and oaky to a suttle sweetness of something I can't put my finger on. Heck the flavors changed almost every few puffs. Just wonder to smoke, this cigar keeps your attention all the way with the smooth changing flavors. Near perfect to me. Highly Recommened!!

"If you like them..."
buy them. Has a heavy cocoa bean flavor I personally do not like. Now to the wrapper: I am not sure that this wrapper is Nicaraguan--even though they say the cigar is all Nicaraguan tobacco. It's a good wrapper, that is why I think it has Mexican origin.

"Very nice."
This attractive box-pressed maduro has a rich dark chocolate wrapper with minimal veins and no soft spots. Nice prelight aroma. Easy light, outstanding draw and even burn throughout. Started a little harsh with black pepper and spice, but eased into a smooth, complex flavor with dominant notes of cocoa, earth, and a hint of dark chocolate. This one hour smoke paired nicely with a single barrel bourbon, though I think it would have been better accompanied by coffee. Tons of white smoke and a gray ash that held its composure well. Lingering, but pleasant aftertaste. I enjoyed this almost to the nub. Bought a box.

"Nothing short of greatness"
An outstanding smoke, period. The only problem was a very slightly harsh start at light, which smoothed out almost immediately. The dominant flavor was cocoa and toasty/nutty, with alternating highlights of an almost cherry sweetness, oaky and cedary tones and an excellent depth and complexity of flavor. This is undoubtedly the best non-cuban that I have smoked to date, I just wish they didn't cost so much so I could afford to smoke more of them.

"Another classic from Padron"
Like so many of the Padron Anny line, this one is just straight out awesome. Great draw, burn, and ash. Full-bodied but extremely smooth, you can tell the tobacco used here was perfectly aged. A very, very complex cigar that I was fortunate enough to smoke!

"hmmmm....good!"
Wish I could afford this as a daily smoke--and had the time to enjoy. Long, flavorful, smooth but robust smoke. Consistent from beginning to end. One of those where each draw felt like the first. Just makes it hard for the other Padrons to live up to. Loved it.

Everything about this cigar was superb. Wrapper was smooth with a gorgeous chocolate color. A perfect burn for over an hour in the car with loads of smoke. Wonderful pre-light aroma of cocoa. Medium to full body with a rich cocoa and pepper taste. A very long lasting smoke that is highly recommended

"Wow!"
I had just finished having a Cuban Partagas on the golf course then I had this one. If I could only pick one, it would be the Anniversario with out a doubt. Fantastic complex flavor. Consistent throughout. Big plumes of smoke. Perfect draw. I didn't want to say goodbye.

"Nicaragua at it's best"
This is one of the best non-Cubans I have ever smoked. Very consistent, excellent draw, lots of creamy smoke. Flavor is kind of one dimensional and lacks complexity, but Padron did a good blending job to bring out as much as possible from a Nicaraguan tobacco. Maduro is far superior in flavor to the Natural.

"64 Monarca"
Not as complex IMO as the torp or the pyramid. A little sweeter too. It took a good 10 or so draws to make me forget I paid too much for this stinking cigar. After that it settles right down, but still poor value at this price.
