Even Jose Orlando Padron makes a few dog rockets from time-to-time. This premium-priced stick was fairly bland, mild-bodied, and suffered poor construction which resulted in a very uneven burn. Suspected a problem when I sensed this torpedo was hard as

This is the best smoke I've ever had. Really amazing -- I smoked it the day after a Monte #2 and liked it better.

The only drawback is that I can't find a full box of 'em.

"A great dessert cigar"
A great dessert cigar after a heavy or spicy meal. Hard as a rock but with a perfect draw. Great flavor, almost sweet, with strong dark chocolate and coffee flavors. Incredibly consistent, I’ve smoked over 100 of these and have never had a burn problem or plug.

"Classic smoke"
I bought myself a box for Christmas after hitting a grand off a $1.25 bet in Vegas 12/15/08. I waited until last weekend to reward my senses with this wonderfully consistent treat. Beautiful in every way and a medium bodied full flavored dark and richly flavored smoke every time. Copious amounts of leathery smoke coat the palate and the 1964 are impossible to put down until they’re burning your fingers. The torpedo is my favorite size but the entire line is wonderful. For me this is a me, myself, and I alone time smoke that I truly escape the world with...can't put a price tag on that.

"Enjoyable"
This is my 2nd review and only my 4th type of cigar I have ever smoked. Please keep this in mind.

Burn - Even, long and consistent. Very white ash
Draw - Great, lot of smoke easy to get
Flavor - Very mild... I didn't taste too much. Flavor stayed pretty consistent to the end. I smoked to the nub and it never got that hot or bitter taste.

This was a very good cigar but have it rated as my number two behind the Excalibur No. 1 I had yesterday. I would smoke this again but but for 13 dollar a stick I was hoping for a little more.

"pretty damn good"
The torpedo shape tends to be the best of the bunch, although I prefer the naturals. Still, it comes to personal tastes and many enjoy the maduros more. I think both are great. It is mellow with a dark cherry taste. The cream is dampened a bit by the depth of the leaf. As is the case with most 64's, if you smoke them too young they will bite at the end. This is not an exception. Definately a great cigar.

"Top of the list"
The 64 PAM Torpedo is without a doubt the smoothest, best tasting smoke I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

Perfect construction, held a beautiful long white ash and had a great aroma (even the wife was ok with it).

I have about 10 more in the humidor and a few more superiors.

"1964 is a such a Great Year"
Simply as pretty of a box-pressed cigar as there can be a thing. I think the fact that it is a maddie, compounds the beauty of this cigar. The 1/4 tasted sweet, almost like a sugared cigar. The thick plumes of smoke complimented the taste. The ash remained firm almost to midway....I was laughing. The middle of this cigar really turns into something new...a woodsy or cedary taste and smell (so noted my wife). The last quarter was excellent. It was difficult to put down even though it was burning my fingers. I have to say that I like the maddy more than the other torpedo. Yummies!!!!

First draw produced plenty of spice, vanilla, buttery smoothness. Then middle became pretty much expresso, leathery until the end. Little of the earthiness I have found to enjoy. Ash was amazing, almost 3" before it fell off, white in color. Burn was OK, slightly uneven.

"Made a believer out of Me"
I was hesitant to try this cigar because I am relatively new to cigars and did not like anything that had a stronger complexity. But, when I tasted this puppy, my doubts went up in smoke. Everything about this cigar is is excellent. You know there is something different about it by how delicate the wrapper is. Delicate but firm. You can put it in your mouth and let it hang without having to worry about weather or not the tip is going to fall apart. Great taste and lots and lots of smoke. I bought two more boxes. Yeah, they are not cheap but what would you rather be spending your time on?

"A $5 cigar"
This cigar is hype, end of story. I've had one sitting in my humidor for about 4 months now and decided to try it out. The wrapper was perfect, as well as the draw and burn. The flavor was harsh on the light, decent at best throughout the first half and picked up towards the end which led to the taste of a Londres natural. A bit of a smooth subtle chocolate taste. To each his own. There are better smokes out there in the $4-5 price range.

"as good or better than Cuban"
I bought a box of these from Two Guys Smoke after hearing a whole lot of hype. Sometimes I have regretted this and wished I had bought a single to try out first. Not this time, I smoked two over a long weekend (after letting them sit for about six months) and both times I had the same excellent results. The smoke was full of rich cocoa, hazelnuts, and cedar flavor. I loved the appearance and construction as well as the performance and even burn they gave. I just wish they were easier and cheaper to find. This ranks up there with some of the better Cuban cigars I have smoked.

"Good but not $23 dollars good"
O.K. maybe the hype was too much but I was just not impressed. This was a good cigar but I just don't get the raves and at $23 a pop from my local store I won't be trying a second. Admittedly the construction was perfect and so was the draw. The just wasn't the flavor I thought would be there. I just smoked a Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 and I would take that any day of the week over this cigar. If you like this stick make sure you get a deal on an auction site.

"A Bit Disappointing"
I was given this as a gift by a friend. It's a cigar that I've been dying to try for some time, but refused the shell out, so I was very excited to try it. Sadly it had a bit of a construction proble, a bad draw and very little smoke, so I cut I bit more to no avail. . . I was eventually able to free up the knot in the cap with my teeth and things really took off. . .then the smoke was big and fragrant, but not especially special. A bit sad really, and I feel a bit stupid being just about the only person to post a negative review here, but there you go. . .

"Still like Opus better..."
I've been disappointed by a few Padron Anniversarios in the past. This was the best one yet. Others I got had blemishes or tears in the wrapper, etc. It certainly was a beautiful cigar to behold and look at. There were some blemishes in this wrapper as well, but I won't complain about that. Wrappper was dark and oily. The pre-light aroma was nothing out of the ordinary. The draw was good, but the burn needed some correction at times. The ash on these Padrons are all of the darker variety and kind of spindly looking, but it does hold on for almost 2" even while curving to the right. This cigar is full-bodies and Earthy with some notes of cocoa and cedar. The finish was lingering. Some floral notes and at times some nuttiness. However, i've smoked quite a few cigars that had the same description as what I have just written. IMHO I think the Opus X is much more of a mind-blowing experience than any Padron. It is a much cleaner taste, much more unique in the overall complexity of its make-up. Don't get me wrong, the Anniversario is still a great cigar, but I've had better...both Cuban and non-cuban.

This is 2nd to the best cigars i have had by far. This smoke holds its taste compared with the other 64's i had. I tasted a Creamy nutty flavor that soars through my mouth with with a choc., mild leather and hint of oil from the meduro. This Cigar was a great cigar that i enjoyed for 1 1/2 hr. Slow but an abundant draw. great contruction: ash last me 1/3. Everything is great about this cigar except the obvious the price! I highly recommend this to anyone.

I have only been smoking cigars for about 6 months, but have packed a lot of premium smokes into that time. I travel a fair bit and have smoke about 15 cubans. This cigar was by-far the best I have had yet.

Flavor: Excellent, Coffee/Chocolate with mild spice, medium to strong flovor.

Construction: Oustanding, burn and draw were perfect. Held the ash for a good 2 inches, and produced clouds of good smoke.

Value: pricy, but a go to "special occasion" cigar.

"BELIEVE THE HYPE"
I can't believe the rating on this cigar is as low as it is?? I heard good things about the series but not being a huge Padron fan didn't think it was worth the money, I happened to be in a smaller town in Iowa and found this cigar marked for $7 i don't know if it was a misprint or what but needless to say I bought the last two. I had them aging in my humidor for the past about nine months and finally tried one, and i was blown away. It was without a doubt the best cigar i've ever had. it burns super slow and i can't even describe the taste you really have to try it to tell for yourself. some people review and complain about the price which is a little high depending on where you get it but i would say that if you are looking for a good cigar for a special occasion pick one up you wont be disappointed.

"Best Box Pressed Cigar"
This cigar is the best box pressed cigar I have ever smoked. The wrapper is silky. The draw is perfect and the burn is even all the way through. The ash is white to grey and the cigar is creamy with a taste of cocoa. Midway through I also noted additional flavors of nuts and a hint of leather. Overall the cigar is a complex smoke. I expected it to be a little harsher for a maduro but instead it was an rich and elegant smoke. It is also expensive particularly for a box pressed cigar. Nevertheless, it is a great cigar and worth purchasing and aging.

"The best non cuban yet (and not only)"
Bought in Coconut Grove and aged seven months in my humidor. I am surprised to see that the average rating for this cigar is not sky high. To me, ususally a smoker of cuban stuff, this Padron is the best thing you can smoke outside of Fidel's place, and in absolute terms one of the best cigars I ever smoked - period. Flavours were strong, with leather and earth overtones, but all brilliantly blended together and consistently smooth. Construction was excellent. The best to me Padron experience yet.

"Padron Rulez"
Padron is well known for it great line of cigars, especially the 1964 anniversary line. I am a huge Torpedo fan and bought 4 of these for special occasions, and when my wife told me she was pregnant, this was one of those occasions. The cigar was beautiful, wrapper had hardly any noticeable veins, and lit like a champ. The instant the smoke hit my mouth, I knew this was gonna be a GOOD one. The flavors right off the bat were a nice rich cocoa flavor, with a hint of sweetness to it. As the cigar burn to the last third, the flavor was nutty. I hated to put this one out. I do look forward to the other 3 that are sitting in the humidor to be smoked.. 🙂 Bit expensive, but well worth it!

"Not worth $18.00"
The "great" Padron 1964 Maduro torpedo. Rated 94 by Cigar Aficionado. NUTS!! Construction, burn and appearance were outstanding. However, the most important category, flavor, came up short. Flavor started smooth and silky then became progressively harsher as the cigar burned. Predominant flavor was way to leathery. Strong hints of pepper with some slight coffee undertones Overall the cigar lacked the balance, symmetry and refinement one would expect from what many claim to be one of the best cigars in the world. Maybe aging would improve the cigar but a cigar that cost $18.00 should not require aging to be outstanding.

Beutiful to look at, construced well, burn a bit uneven, ash was off white to grey. I don't believe in giving a good review because the cigar has a "name". This cigar had hints of cocoa and coffee. Just a bit to mild for me and the flavor never really became strong. At close to 20 bucks a stick, not worth it. If you're gonna smoke an anniversario I would suggest going with the Pyramid.
