"You'll taste it for hours!"
A good friend allowed me to retrieve this from his expansive humidor. I never had a Hoyo de Monterrey cigar before, though I had heard plenty about them. This specimen looked a little dry and had been in his humidor for several months. No spongy construction here. The stick was firm and burned very evenly with a nice black/white ash. I noticed a peppery taste initially that calmed down after the first half inch was smoked. Lots of burnt wood notes with a strong aftertaste. A medium strength stick that stays with you long after you enjoy it. The cigar was never harsh, hinting that age had tamed the beast within. I'm now afraid of the regular HDM line knowing this is the milder brother. I'm not sure my palate is ready for the assault.

"A great value"
Good looking with easy draw and good volume of tasty smoke. Developed some minor burn irregularities late, but on the whole quite even burning.

"Flavor not bad, what there was of it"
Nice looking cigar, but draw was very tight. Had to wonder for the first third if there was any flavor ... or smoke. Finally began to get a little more smoke, but not nearly as much as I prefer. The mild flavors were not at all bad, toasty, nutty, and smooth, but the tight draw/lack of smoke just made this one a pain the the rear to smoke. I'd smoked a house-brand bundle cigar earlier in the day that runs just about a buck a stick, and it was a much more satisfying and pleasurable smoking experience, with good flavor also. I'll sitkc with the bundle-budget sticks over this one. I was disappointed, to say the least, after reading reviews on this HDM cigar. I won't be again.

"Excellent cigar"
After being disappointed in a larger HDM, I was thoroughly impressed by this one! Fantastic draw and burn, and good flavor too.

"Wonderful"
What a great cigar. I bought this as an afterthought from my local cigar store and discovered what is probably the finest A.M. smoke there is. This is my first Hoyo and will certainly not be my last. Delicious.

"Nice light morning smoke"
This lightly colored cigar is also lightly oily, toothy, and veiny. The word 'light' also pertains to the flavor as this is a mild smoke with flavors of bread, coffee, and light spice; those flavors sound like breakfast making this an appropriate morning smoke. And other than a slightly firm draw, the cigar smokes reasonably well.

"a fine cigar"
Let me just say that this is a beautiful cigar to behold. The wrapper is a perfect oily golden brown and the label is nice and classy lookin... oh yeah and the flavor rocks as well. Smooth, mild-medium creamy smoke, very pleasing to the palette. Nice draw, perfect white ash, smoked it down to the nub.

"A fine avg. cigar"
I used to smoke these cigars back in 94. Unlike many cigar from that time, these did not change. Also, I smoked this right out of the store, so some aging might have helped I thought it was not very complex, but it was better than the partagas 10: more taste and more smooth. I paid 6.50 for the cigar, and that is my real beef. For an extra buck, I can get a Cusano 18 or something just as good. Not bad, not wow.

"very good"
Have smoked a few of these and enjoyed each and every one of them, smooth draw, even burn down to the nub, very nice and relaxing smoke with good medium flavor. A solid staple in my humidor.

"Solid smoke"
This was a very nice smoke with a lovely flavor to it. The wrapper was nice and smooth with some oil to it. The cap cut with no end trails and gave way to woody pre lit draw. The foot lit even and burned with a solid salt and pepper ash. The taste was medium with notes of wood and some slight sweet notes on the finish. A solid every day smoke.

"Without a trace"
Size not posted--(6 1/8x48) Good draw, firm ash, uneven burn, nutty tones with hints of wood. Maintains medium bodied flavor without being too spicy. Can't think of what would compel me to smoke again, aside from someone giving me one for free.

Anyway.... this is a very good cigar. It's a medium bodied flavor and it smokes as well as any cigar I've tried. I'd recommend it to anyone.

"A Keeper!"
I've smoked several and have never been dissapointed by this smoke. Each burns flawlessly, and the complexity of flavors are delicious. Hard to find a better value in a medium bodied smoke.
