"Nice"
A nice, simple maduro for those that like smooth flavors and light body. Nice flavors of coffee and chocolate, with a smooth finish. Reminiscent of Sancho Panzo double maduro or Sol Cubana maduro. Not a powerhouse, but has a nice rustic flavor. Construction and burn were top-notch. Delicious smoke with a coffee. Will buy again, although it is not a must have.

"Smooth Maduro"
Went out of town and accidentally forgot to take some cigars. Luckily I stumbled on a cigar shop one evening and picked up a No. 3 Maduro. I have been interested in the excalibur line for a while now, I have read plenty of good reviews on them. I will say they were right. My No. 3 was smooth and creamy from the start. She had a just ever so slightly stout draw but her burn was even, slow, and smooth. I must have walked for a hour on the Seattle waterfront wearing her out. The price wasn't as cheap as others but the cigar shops were few so that was expected, hopefully I can find some around the prices listed on this sight. Overall, my No.3 was a pleasure to smoke and I plan to stock my humidor with some now that I'm back home.

"My new best friend"
This one smokes nice and smooth. Subtle flavors of chocolate and coffee mix in with silky tobacco satisfaction. Perfect construction and draw, the ash is white and hangs on for dear life, burns like a dream. A box is coming my way soon.

"Great maduro"
Loved this cigar; even out of a fresh box, it burned perfectly, draw was just right. Flavor started out OK, but started getting really good after the first 1.5 inch. Cocoa and toast, sweet, never overpowering.

"Very consistent"
I have had a box of these in my rotation for roughoy 15 years. From box to box they are spot on. I haven't had one for awhile and have had three in the last two weeks and they are just amazing, not just for the price, but for loads of smoke and full flavors of naturally sweet tobacco, warm spices and wood. Loads of med-full flavor but mellow as can be. For the price ($2.80/stick) a maddie lovers dream. No better daily, go-to general purpose stick that blows away cigars 5 times the cost. Not always a beauty queen but they always smoke perfectly draw/burn.

"Damn good cigar"
Wrapper has a lot of character. Draw was good. Nice body, mild/med cigar. Good smoke all the way through. Good basic maduro. Enjoyed Excalibur more than regular HDM, but regular HDM is no slouch either.

"Good basic smoke"
Got this in a sampler pack. Nice body, mild medium cigar. Good smoke from the start, but nothing distinctive. Then again, nothing objectionable either.

Have had my share of HDMs, but Excaliburs are a cut above.

"Reliable smoke"
A well-made cigar with a nice, dark wrapper. The burn and draw are good. It's milder than most maduros, with light cocoa and earthy flavors, but some charriness as well. Still a good smoke, and like most of General's offerings, consistent and reliable.

"Hmmmm"
This is my first Hmmm moment with an Excalibur, definitely my favorite line out there. I generally stock II's and V's, and Merilins, so I also tried one of JR's 5-packs to check out the III. The first stick in the pack was less beautiful than I've come to expect from the line, sporting a couple big veins and a wavy rippled cap. Initially, the draw was too fast, it very acrid and the less than perfect construction felt odd in my mouth. Then about 1" into the smoke the draw seemed to moderate and the flavor opened up into the beautiful round, rich flavor I've come to expect from the Excaliburs. By the end I loved this about as much as any of the Excs ever had and was upset when it ended. I'm hoping this one was an aberration and the other 4 will be all around better smokes.

"I'll stick with the #1's and 2's"
For some reason this stick just didn't satisfy like the number 1 and number 2's I've so enjoyed. That being said, I love Excaliburs. The line is definitely in my top 5. But, I recommend a #1 over this anyday. They are only about a buck or so more.

"I was disappointed"
After reading the reviews of this cigar, I bought a 5 pk from JR. I have had only 1, but it was hard to draw, rolled extremely tight and the flavor was not up to par to other Hoyo's Ive had. I wouldnt purchase of box of these unless the 4 turn out much better.

This cigar is a great value. The quality of the taste and construction is consistent. It often tastes better then more expensive maduros. Sometimes the cigar has a tendancy to get too harsh, but that could be me smoking too fast.
