"Excellent"
Perfect construction. Maybe it was a fake... but NO! Just an excellent Habano. Perfect draw and burns absolutely straight, leaving a shiny carbon ring as it goes. Starts out creamy and smooth, with a pleasant malty aroma. Medium to full bodied texture with a mild flavor. Flavors are woody, with some pepper after the first third. Earthier in the last stage. Aromas are subtle, but wonderful -- malt and sweet wood, sandalwood maybe. A lovely mild smoke.

"Excellent smoke"
Creamy smooth taste with just a hint of pepper about halfway. No burn issues, perfect construction, lots of smoke. I always enjoy these 🙂

"Pepper Stick"
Received this cigar as a club selection from the Canadian Cigar Club. I let it rest for several months before I tried it. For some reason the foot split while in the humidor, since none of my other cigars (including other JL's) suffered the same fate, I figured it was a construction issue. Lighting this cigar was difficult with the split, but once I got it started the stick self corrected the crooked burn. The cigar had a slightly tight draw, but not enough to hinder enjoyment of the cigar. The flavor was something like the No 2, but stronger. Also it was very peppery, almost to the point of being hot. The finish was really well peppered. Overall this cigar was not bad, a little hot, but not bad at all.

"Great smoke"
Bought a cab from 03 recently. Smoked several of them and am very impressed. Great construction, smooth sweet flavors, lots of twang, not harsh. I like the size better than the JL2 and being less popular it is easier to get these with a couple of years on them. Highly recommended.

"Smooth"
Easy draw, reasonable amount of smoke, smooth taste. I had to put mine aside for an hour while down to the final third.....still smooth when re-lit, not harsh at all.

"Sweet"
After an incredible buffet dinner, with tons of wonderful French cheese and splendid 1995 Chateneuf du Pape, our host offered me this JL Seleccion 1. Unfortunately, he didn't have a torch available, so I had firing problems. In any case, a beautiful cigar, with smooth flavours and a tight(ish) draw. I couldn't finish it on the same evening, and I left it aside for a couple of days. Surprise, it was still very good, if expectedily more peppery. A very good cigar, despite the draw, no idea about the price paid...great value, it was a gift!
