"Copious Amounts Of Smoke...And Then Some!"
This newer profile from Padron is a monster! First, I love Padron cigars, they're my favorites bar none with the 1964 Anniversary Series Imperial Maduro being my choice if I only were allowed to smoke one cigar.
That said the "Padron" series is not a 1964 as they appear a bit "young and brash" but, they still deliver. And speaking about delivery...That is exactly what the 7000 is about! Much the opposite of the box pressed 1964 series these are looser and, as stated, younger tasting. Not every edge is totally smoothed out, however, I like this cigar!
The wrapper was a medium brown which appeared matte and smooth. The roll was a bit loose and it allowed as stated in the review title: Copious amounts of smoke!. This easy drawing cigar was one I needed to slow down on and enjoy as it delivered so readily. The taste was spicy at first with a bit of tang and quickly settled down into a nice woody and earthy taste that was surprisingly smooth. Even if it was younger tasting than the 1964, and without the strong mocha tones, it never tilted toward any ammonia or other off tastes. Sure, it wasn't as complex as the more expensive Padrons, but that is what this cigar is all about as it is a solid medium to strong profile that remains smooth enough to enjoy.
I'm personally fond of this cigar and particularly glad Padron saw fit to put a large bore smoke in it's regular line. I first enjoyed it with an Abbey style ale and then, because it lasted so long, switched to Wild Turkey 101 & water and thought it went well with both.
Try this cigar, it's a solid smoke that doesn't bite. I liked it and hope you do too.
