Average looking as torpedos go. Draws a little too easy. Lights easily. Mostly even burn with a light white ash. Aroma and flavor are very big. Medium bodied. buzz factor=6

"better with age"
2 months later this one came from the hummi with a smoothness not present i the first one I smokd. Still had the caramel but the nutty flavor was more pronounced this time. then got some woody overtones as well. The burn was great. No relights . Better this time around. Give it a try.

"So- So"
this is a great burning cigar. Not much change in the flavor as you smoke it. but the flavors that are there ae nice. Seemed slightly carmel and some mild spice. no burn issues Maybe they get even better with age. But all in all this is a nice, consistent cigar. And again I must tell you all that the price I paid is high because they were purchased in England

"Very good on the mild side."
This is a smoke to ejoy anytime. Taste is complex and filling yet mild and smooth. Construction great and burn even. I think this is one of the best cuban values out there.

"Pretty tasty"
I was not expecting much from these, truth be told, as I hadn't heard rave reviews. Very pretty cigar, nice looking wrapper, the draw and burn were perfect. Several people commented on the nice aroma from these cigars. I thought the flavor was excellent, more in the refined and smooth side of the street than flavor bomb-power. I loved this cigar all the way to the last inch when the flavor turned and wasn't that good. I'll get more.

"First Mild stick off the the Truck."
Cigars were well constructed and uniform throughout the box. I smoked one Jan 2006, three days off the truck. The box code was from May 2005. As others have posted, I was slightly disappointed with the one dimentional mild flavor. Hints of spicyness came through on occasion. Good compact dark gray ash. In fact when it finaly broke off it stayed intact even when falling to the ground. Cigar was constructed a bit loose but never affected the smoke. Overall a decent cigar, but I was expecting more from a Cuban. These will rest for another 6-8 months and we will see what develops.

"Mild"
Much milder smoke than I expected...burn needed a couple touch ups. Nutty profile, only picked up a tad of spice at the end. For the money, I would prefer a BBF or SP Belicosas.

"Orange Peel"
R&J has beeen producing quality cigars since 1875. And although they are credited with creating the Churchill format (known as "Julieta 2" in the factory), the Belicoso is the jewel of the R&J line.

It has remained consistent in construction and taste for the 11 years that I have enjoyed them. I cannot say the same for other Cuban brands, especially during the early 90's.

The Belicoso size burns slow and cool, allowing for great volumes of creamy smoke. For some reason, I always taste notes of orange peel in the Belicosos that is either faint or absent in other R&J sizes.

A very enjoyable cigar that represents the consistency that Cuba is capable of.

"good year for RyJ Beli"
this one was smooth, had similar qualities with the monte #2 but milder, and just as enjoyable. I've heard they vary quiet a bit in flavor from batch to batch but the feb 04 production was a good one

"Not my favorite"
I have smoked half a box of these, manufactured '03. The ash is not a characteristic white of other Cubans, and the cigar is rolled too loosely to burn evenly. About 1 1/2" into the cigar, wrapper stops burning while filler continues resulting in a dry, less than flavorful smoke requiring frequent touch-up with the torch. I thought at first this was just a bad one in the box, but every single one I have smoked has this problem! Flavor is phenomenal in the first inch or so, but from there on it is very disappointing. My suggestion--choose a different cigar if you want a nice cuban smoke.

"For my 200th review ..."
I smoked the forgettable RyJ Belicocoso. This mushy torpedo had a toothy carmel colored wrapper. The wrapper was marred by one very prominent vein. Most of the others in the box has similar inperdections. The draw was good and the volume of smoke was decent, although it burned crookedly and began canoeing through the second half. The refinement on this cigar was pretty good. It had a dry woody flavor with a modest amount of spice. The draw began to get hot through the second half, probably sue to being under filled and a little loose. The cigar didn't so much finish as it got boring and I put it down. With an average price around 15 bucks, your money is better spent on many other Cubans and non-Cubans. I'll be gifting the rest of these or dumping them into box passes.

"Incredibly....boring"
Not necessarily a bad cigar, but for the price I expect much more than that. After almost two years in the humidor, the burn and draw are very good. The flavor is bland and without soul, at times it approaches impressive flavor but never manages to get there. For my taste, I have come to the conclusion that R&J are overrated and overpriced. I'll take a Bolivar any day of the week.

"just ok"
Smooth, peppery, sweet aromatic smoke. Slightly tight draw, average appearance and construction. Good solid cigar but considering scarcity (in U.S.) and price ($25.00) per stick not quite worth the hassle of acquisition.

"Finally!"
When I first had some cigars out of this box (3/00), I was unimpressed. After letting them site a year, they are much better. This was a dark grassy smoke, with a dirty gray ash. I can only hope the improve with another year.
