"One of my favorites"
My friend and I spent almost two hours putting a pair of these away last night. Probably the best cigar I've tried. Mine burned a little uneven on one side, but the other burned perfectly even. This was a smooth cigar; not as strong as I expected. I can't wait to get more.

"A good cigar, but not Rocky's best"
This cigar has a dark and veiny wrapper. Construction was good and the draw was effortless. The burn was uneven at times, but quickly fixed itself. flavors of chocolate and leather, with some spice. A good cigar, but the OWR maduro is Rocky's best in my opinion.

"Love this one"
Mixed reviews but for me this has always been great. Beautiful construction, burn, draw every time and there is a core flavor that is always there that I couldn't do justice to identify but damn it's good! The first third is full flavored medium and then more full the last two thirds but great complexity with solid tobacco flavors with some notes of leather and spice. This one's a keeper. I have boxes of the Gran Robusto (Holt's only size), Toro M, and Missle M. Recommended for the seasoned palate.

"Full-bodied Bland"
Got a few in the Rocky Patel Premium Sampler. Great construction, though it could have been looser, lending a greater volume of smoke. The maduro wrapper was splotchy with a moderate amount of veins, though was the saving grace for flavor. I'm an admirer of the rich and sweet maduro. The overall cigar, however, was rather a full-bodied version of bland. Not much complexity, save for the wrapper's nuances and a little bit of varied creaminess here and there. Great for the strong nicotine, but nothing in the "Inspired Flavor" department

"I'll pass on this one"
I've read reviews on how this is supposed to be one of the best strong bodied smokes around, I found it to be like the reviews stated "on the edge of being harsh" but the smoothness part of that comment isn't what I found, I thought the taste was'nt very complex and just a full bore nic stick. I guess if you like that type of smoke buy it, as for me I'll stick with the Pepin, Torano's and Padilla smoke which in my book have more of what I like.

"A good smoke for everyone"
The ones with the bands on the foot seem to be milder and sweeter than the older ones. upon lighting the taste is semi sweet with a slight leather taste building up to a dark chocolate halfway through. Dont be afraid of his smoke it is not so strong that a novice would not enjoy it. hardly no aftertaste. this is a good cigar for the price. I bought a box about a year or so now they have mellowed out and the spice has let them so dont really keep them too long because the new ones are not as strong as the old ones.

"Another excellent Maduro"
I've really begun to love these Edge Maduros. Burns well, definitely an earthy-spicy-strong smoke with plenty of nicotine. I wouldn't suggest this to the faint of heart. There have been a few occasions that by the time I got to the end I was buzzing so hard I broke out in a sweat. Now thats a good cigar!

I prefer the Torpedo over the Toro, but both are standars in my Humidors & considering the price & quality of smoke, I'd say these blow many more expensive Maduros out of the water!

"Give me a sun grown any day over this!"
Nice oily dark veiney wrapper, ash flakey and grey but relatively sturdy, draw was a little tight. Burn was even, but went out on me a few times, smoke was thick and creamy.
Medium bodied woody core, with a nice spice about it, but not a whole lot else. Plenty of harsh spots, which kind of ruined its good qualities. Not what I expected, got more harsh towards the end and was unpleasantly one demensional. I need to try one that was bought a few years ago, Ive heard they have changed quite a bit over the last 2 years.
I was unimpressed and prefer the sungrown series over this any day! Finished bitter, dry, and hot!

"Brought back from the dead"
I had this cigar stuck in a drawer for well over a month. When I finally found it, it was more of a long prune than a cigar. I stuck it in my humidor and "amazingly" brought it back to life. I lit it up yesterday, and it was AMAZING. Good/Even burn. Great flavor. Well made. Fair amount of smoke. The only problem I had with it was that it seemed to plug up on the last inch or so of smoking it, but other then that it was a highly enjoyable cigar.

"Very intriguing smoke..."
this stick was. Wrapper was salty to taste (first experience with that). Got some traces of fruit like an orange peel then berry in first 1.5 in. Agree with charred wood foundation. There was a taste I could not identify during last 2 thirds - sort of a "menthol" like effect in my pallete and nose. Not a bold, or strong smoke to me but definitley complex - similar to a Brazilia. It's grabbed my attention. Gonna try another one in a better environment - was driving on this one.

"Can't wait to try this one again"
A beautiful cigar. Excellent construction. The way it cut and the pre-light aroma led me to believe this was going to be good. The draw was just about perfect and it stayed cool and mellow down to the nub. It started out alittle spicy and got sweeter as it procceded to diappear in great clouds of aromatic smoke. As soon as I finished it I was ready for another one. Not terribly complex, but a good solid smoke.

"Not for the timid"
Most of the reviewers have hit this one dead on, it IS powerful. That is part of the promise of the EDGE cigars and why so many experienced smokers seek them out, even at high prices. The wrapper is plain, but oily and dark. I think the band could use some work too. The smoke is strong and has a lot of peppery goodness. Be prepared to SIT with your favorite beverage and enjoy this cigar.

"A Little Overpowering"
I tried this one a few months back. I smoked one as soon as I got them in the mail. It seemed more harsh than most of the maduros I have smoked in the past. It left me with a bad aftertaste to. So I gave it some time in the humidor so it could mellow a little bit and it didn't make a lick of difference. If you like cigars that leave a burnt aftertaste than this one's for you. If you like your cigars complex but not overpowering than this one is not for you.

"creamy but full and complex"
Perhaps this review is a bit premature as I have only smoked 2/3 of the dark beauty, but here I go anyway. The prelight aroma and draw were different than I imagined. It was almost sweet without any harshness. even prior to the light you could smell what the 5 years of aging has done. Upon lighting I may have been abit harsh (probably my fault), but that taste dissapeared instantly. As I began to smoke this dark and a bit oily cigar I tasted a bit of earthiness that some may say has a degree of sweetness. That being said this is a complex cigar with a medium to full body. smoking through the halfway point I began to pick up some very subtle spiciness that was plesent. The overall taste of the cigar is top notch. This cigar never needed to be touched up or relit. It had a semi-even burn that was at all times acceptable. The construction was also top notch, with the ash begging to stay on. The only thing I could add to make this cigar perfect was the volume of smoke. I did not get giant clouds of smoke from this cigar, and the draw was abit tight. All that being said this was a great cigar that deserves to be in my top 10. a word about pricing and value, I paid 10.80 in a california smoke shop. for 5-8 dollars the value would be a 9-10

"Fine maduro"
I found this toro to be an extremely well constructed cigar, somewhat better than the RP Vintage lines. It burns evenly, draws perfectly, and is generally well behaved. The wrapper is slick with oil. It starts up with a rich burst of classic maduro flavors– a little sweetness, a little char– and quickly transitions to a smooth but full flavored smoke. Just a bit tannic. It gathers a little more strength as it burns to the end, but maintains the same character– smooth and rich with a charred wood foundation. Medium to heavy in body, but not overly strong. A nice after dinner smoke to enjoy with an espresso.

"All the rage, but..."
I can't say a bad thing about this cigar. They are extremely popular. Outstanding taste but slight burn issues. RP makes wonderful sticks for the money we give him. This maduro just didn't excite me. If it were rarer, I'd appreciate it more, but there just isn't really anything here tastewise that isn't available in RP's Indian Tabac line. But don't get me wrong - this is an outstanding cigar and well balanced, just like everyone else said.

The Edge starts out as a woody wonder, but I have found after boxes of this beefy cigar that it gets a heavy and bitter taste about 2/3 of the way through. I wonder what a corona or churchill would taste like.

Appearance is a little short of perfection, construction and draw is impecable. Get a box of the x-outs from Cigars International and store them away in your humidor as a sledgehammer to break up a hard day. You will be happy to have these stuck away in the humidor!

"oh..my..gawd"
This cigar is dark brown, matte, manly, and unbanded (we don't need no steenkin' band!). No noticable veins here. Hard and uniform to the touch.
First inch of this is strong, pedal to the medal, go! Big oak and charred herbs dominate here while you puff easily.
Then, THEN, you settle into the yummy goodness of this big boy. Meaty, rich, and smooth, with lightly-toasted oak and plumes of smoke covering you. Hints of berries tickle your taste buds, while you watch a tightly-rolled halloween-orange furnace, very light-grey ash, and a perfect burn.
Finishes dry and vanillay when you become conscious again.
Simply, heaven..right down to a half-inch nub. Get out your tweezers boys, because this is another top-notch cigar from Rocky Patel.

This is one of Rocky's best IMHO smokes. The construction was very solid with a slow burn and nice ash. The draw started a bit tight though it did loosen up after about an inch. The burn was very straight too. The best part was indeed the flavor of the beautigul maddie. It's powerful and smooth, slight sweetness and spicey. This cmoke isn't cheap but it is worth the price. This was a far better cigar than the Corojo version in Toro size. The other tasted like burning tires, this one was really pretty good. It was very similar in many ways to the Gran Habano #5 series, but definitely stronger. It had some maduro flavor but not a huge amount. A robust cigar with leathery flavor and extremely spicy in the first inch, this cigar was smooth and strong with a nice tobacco tone throughout. I burned it down to the nub and only purged it once. Lots of Vitamin N also. Far superior to the Corojo version.

"A Great Smoke"
Last night I was once again pleasently surprised by yet another RP product. I love Sun Growns and the Vintage Series sticks so I decided to pick up a 5 pack of the Edge smokes. What a smart decision on my part. From the moment you handle it you know it is going to be a winner.

Beautiful Maduro wrapper, strongly constructed with a nice oily sheen. The aroma coming off the stick was wonderful - slightly sweet and aromatic.

I lit it up and the the draw was almost non-existent. At first I did not like the lack of pull but after a minute or so it became a non-issue as the flavor kicked in and the draw tightned up a bit. 45 minutes it was just as good as the first third.

I strongly suggest any RP fan try this stick. To others who have not tried any of his smokes I suggest that you try a 5 pack sampler of any of the aforementioned cigars.

I got a couple of these from a friend and I was really excited to one. However, my excited soon faded as I began smoking it. I wouldn't say it was unpleasant, but it just didn't do much for me. It was a nice, full bodied cigar but not much more than that. It just wasn't that interesting and I kept waiting for other flavors to emerge, but none ever did. I smoked it all the way down to the nub hoping that something would happen because my friend likes these so much. Not quite sure what the big deal is.

"Good solid smoke"
This is a full-bodied experience! Deep, rich, oily maduro wrapper with medium veins. Solid construction - heavy in the hand - with no soft spots. Earthy prelight aroma. Easy light. Good draw. Burned even without the need for correction. Gray-white ash. Started immediately with pepper and spice, but then quickly gave way to a prominent earthy undertone which served as the foundation for notes of burnt leather and cocoa in the first third. These flavors gave way to a distinctive semi-sweet chocolate taste in the middle third that was layered on top of the aforementioned flavors. The stick became very smooth, rich, and complex by the halfway point and continued for the rest of the stick. The last third was a medley of earth, mild pepper, chocolate and cocoa with a hint of sweetness (like dark chocolate). All in all, this one and a half hour smoke is full-bodied and rich. Not loaded with a ton of Vitamin N, but you definitely shouldn't smoke it too fast. Would do well as an apres-dejuener smoke with espresso.

Pre lite, the cigar is impressive, even coming with out a label. This stick got off to a slow start. I found that the draw was alittle tighter than i prefer. The first third of the cigar reminded me of the flavor of a C.A.O Italia, which IMO is not a bad thing. As the cigar progressed, i found it had a nice spice that seemed like a mix between an Ashton VSG and an Opus X. All in all i was able to nub this baby. I found that it especially complimented the Alaskan King crabs legs, and the NY strip steak i had 15 or so minutes before. Look for this at your local shop, they are hard to miss being that they come in crates of 200.

"Rocky KO's Boris Badanoff with FLAVA"
The guys who hang out in the makeshift living room of my local Tobacconist smoking baseball bats and talking about their wives all talked this one up as the latest $4 "cant keep it in stock" cigar. I went on a mission to try a bunch of brands that I was unfamiliar with...BINGO, Rocky Patel (as I am a Fuente guy). Nicely done...smooth...fairly complex...not that back of the throat tang that some harsher sticks can give you. Overall, it was a pleasure to smoke...and is the perfect Golf Course or Poker Party cigar (one you are not afraid to give out in quantity, should the rest of your foursome come empty handed). I cant wait to try my Vintage 1990...

"Nice stick"
Fantastic construction, the wrapper and rolling were absolutely first rate. Taste was strongish, like they say on the edge of being bitter. Plasencia did a fine job on these.

"Was the same as the Corojo..."
So, I'm giving it the same review. I got these from different sources, so what I had hoped was just a bad sample must not have been.

I was pretty excited to try this, as I had heard good things from people who have similar tastes to me. Not sure what the excitement is about. It was pretty good looking wrapper, draw was very easy, maybe too easy? I did find it full bodied, but I couldn't get any real flavors from it. A letdown.

"Let these sit for a while...."
I got a few of these in a sample package and made the mistake of smoking one right away and was disappointed. Had another today after a couple months in the 'dor. Very nice. Medium to full bodied, oily finish, nice smoke, decent ash - very nice. Will get some more.

"light me another!"
Now this is a cigar! From light to finish I got hints of chocolate, some spice, and a bit of 'earthy' tastes. Kept my interest throughout. One of those where every draw surprises. And for the price--a great 'occasional' cigar. I didn't notice it as strong really--just full flavored. Another RP great--except for the packaging/ring. The first I bought was naked--the subsequent sticks clothed by a cheap looking ring--almost as if it was rushed to design just to get a ring on. I will just remove the ring on every cigar as the construction is a beaut. Nice work--RP.

"Ass kicking cigar"
Wow this is a ass kicking cigar. Do not smoke on a empty stomach. This cigar was a bit harsh on the light up but settled down a little I mean a little into a nice full flavored cigar with a nice aftertaste and what flavor it had the whole way through. The story behind its creation is great aswell.
