"Not so Edgy but smooooth..."
From the reviews here it looks like the edge has worn off the Edge, but that hasn't dulled any opinions. Not mine anyway. This is a great tasting medium bodied cigar that transitions from almost mild at the beginning to almost full at the end. It starts out very smooth and slightly nutty with some salt, then gets sweeter with coffee and caramel overtones, and then builds up a little more body and ends with a peppery finish. The draw was a little loose, but smoke production wasn't a problem and it burned forever even though I was smoking at a brisk pace. A great cigar at a really reasonable price.

"Really...This is one of the best!"
This particular smoke had a year of humidor time so take that in the mix...It was awesome! Great wood and clove taste. What I mean is it was balanced. First and foremost it was dry and cured woodiness followed by a bit of spice. Perfect as the finish was clean and really nice.

"Good."
Good one for Rocky. Not a $6 stick by any stretch, but at c bid prices a good smoke. Not as "strong" as I would have guessed, but the cigar was actually better than I thought it would be. Not a brick wall of power, and actually had some depth and dimension to the flavor. Good burn and draw too. Thumbs up, Rocky.

"just missed the flight"
The first quarter of the cigar is alluring, but somehow loses its luster after that. The flavor reminds me of the 5 vegas classics, but not as strong and like I stated above, it mellows out prematurely. But still a good smoke none-the-less.

"This is why we smoke cigars."
Two years of box time produced a 2 hour nirvanah flavor experience. This was the best flavor(s) in a cigar I have ever experienced. Rich, incredibly smooth, creamy flavors of honey, mocha, clove, and coffee. Burn was a bit uneven, cigar got soggy and had an overall loose draw. Body suprisingly medium instead of advertised full. Reviewed this 2 years ago...I can't believe this was from the same 5 pack. I think I paid about $4. Buy a fiver, not a box (they appear inconsistent from the wide ranging reviews) age them, and I hope you can experience what I did.

"Reason for mixed reviews"
I've smoked many Patel Edge cigars and I can say with all confidence that the reason the reviews are so mixed, is that the cigar is so inconsistent. When they are right, they rock! When they are off, they can be acrid and foul. Test smoke a few from a specific box or supplier and then make a decision as to whether the batch is good or not before you buy more!

"?consistency"
Have smoked a lot of these maduro and corojo but they lack consistency. Some are powerhouses some are so mild there is little flavor. When they are on they are great, rich, creamy, flavorful with just enought nic to taste. When they are off they suck. Would love to buy a box of 100 but just know 25% would leave me wanting.

"Top notch, especially for the money."
Based on the recent reviews I’m wondering: are all smoking the same thing? The Edge doesn’t strike me as a target for such love-it/hate-it testimonials.

I purchased a 10-pack maybe a year or so ago. The first few I smoked displayed the potent power some have attributed to this cigar, albeit a smooth smoke without the harshness I’ve found in some of the other “butt-kicking” smokes folks rave about. In the interim I’ve enjoyed them periodically, and have always found them to be well-made and flavorful – while packing a mild wallop.

After a six month hiatus I lit one up the other night and found it to be even smoother than I remembered. The flavor was good and full, well-balanced and reasonably complex. The body was substantive, but nowhere near that of an LFD double ligero or a Joya de Nicaragua 1970. No, it’s not particularly pretty but I’ve always found the construction to be perfectly satisfactory (which is sadly all too uncommon these days). For the money I think the Edge is a great cigar, and certainly the best overall of what RP offers.

Now, should the average cigar smoker have to buy his smokes a year in advance to enjoy their full benefit? That’s a whole other question . . . .

"Stay away"
Good construction. Nice appearance. Slightly oily wrapper. Aged in my humi for about 4 months prior to smoking.

I did not like this cigar. I had high expectations for a RP smoke. It was okay. I though draw was a bit tight. Burned evenly.

"OK"
This is one of those sticks that feels light in your hand and comes without a band. Has a very brittle wrapper also. It smoked OK, with an airy type of draw, that produced lots of smoke. A little too airy and loose. The taste was medium, with light coffee, that became nutty and then slightly leathery. Burn was even with decent ash. It was OK, but nothing spectacular.

"mediocre"
Below average looking cigar. Tasted more like a sumatra wrapper than a corojo. The flavor started out sumatra.black_pepper. It gained a little cedar as it went along, but that's about it. Don't really see the whole "edge" thing, it's really not that full bodied or spicy. Burn was fine and draw was great. Honestly, it's on par with an $0.80 Thompson's sumatra wrapped cigar I've had.

"One helluva cigar"
This rosado wrapped beauty drew excellently beginning to end. The flavors started off medium and after about 2 inches really took off into a full strength powerhouse. Hints of cedar, coffee and all the other good nuances you would expect in a cigar of this profile. It is definitely on my list for a box purchase in the future if they can keep up the consistency.
Also a steal at the price I paid for a single.

"Knock-Out Punch"
If you had a stressful day and need something to knock that stress right out of you then try one of these sticks. It feels good in your hand and has a nice color to it. To reach the summit you have to climb the mountain. That being said the first quarter of the stick is harsh, but once this pass then you are rewarded with a smooth full body flavor with plenty of smoke. You will also want to sit down for this smoke since a buzz will start to grow in you and before you know it your are reclining in that chair of yours.

3 1/2 months ago the cigar I smoked was average at best and it's neighbor I smoked last night was very good. I don't know if the first of my fiver was a bad one or they just needed some rest. More oily now with a mediocre burn, but the flavor, man the flavor and strength are terrific. You guys actually did know what you were talking about.

"I've been to the edge"
I finally got ahold of one of these to try. Let me begin by saying, if you are a beginner, you will probably be (literally) knocked out by this cigar and you may never smoke a cigar again. If you like 'em strong, this could become your go-to because it is probably one of the strongest ones out there, and it isn't bitter like some stronger ones are.
The Corojo wrapper starts biting your lips before you even light up; it's a bang of a wrapper. The filler is Nicaraguan all the way, spicy, peppery, a little woody...but it develops a slight sweet taste to it which is unusual in strong cigars. I think this adds to it. As you go down it gets a little mellower. Produces gobs of smoke, and you can smell it far far away. Suffice it say this won't become your wife's favorite smoke.
Draw is very tight and maybe this is intentional to keep it from getting to much punch. However you can forget about joining the army because you will meet Mr. Buzz right here. Imagine the exact opposite of a Macanudo and you have this cigar. It's somewhat like an RP sun grown mixed with a Te-amo on mondo steroids.
Burn was decent but I had some tunneling and had to relight. Also of note is that it is unbanded, a little upsetting since I collect all my bands.
All in all a must try for those who like them strong.

"Sweet & edgy"
Fired up like a perfumed pepper laden firecracker and that's a good thing. Settled down too soon, less than inch in. Full draw and plenty of smoke but now I'm wishing the perfume notes would go away. Not in the same league with the Gran Habano Corojo. It's an OK cigar but way over hyped. Now I'm getting a little funky aftertaste and that is the only complexity I've noticed so far. Can you tell I'm disappointed? much better smokes for the money.

"DO believe the hype!"
What a great cigar! This smoke had heavy, robust tastes, of charred wood that were accented by pepper and spice(s). It finished with a woodsy, creamy taste that was delightful. Towards the end, this smoke had a vanilla/spicy/creamy taste that was worth noting. I paid $6.00 (each) for 3 of these at my local shop, b/c I wanted to know b4 i bought a box...however, they are worth every penny. The draw was smooth, the ash was white/gray and tight, and the construction was worth noting. This is a great cigar, especially considering the price.

"Strong pepper and tar."
A wonderfully constructed cigar. Flavor to me was a rather mundane and dull deep pepper and tar combo. Although this cigar is on the high end of deep full flavor it was not hot nor overpowering. I just didn't really enjoy the one demensional tar flavor. This cigar to me was also not relaxing. I almost had to work at the full flavor being developed. I guess the Edge, although a quality cigar, was just not for me.

"Nice Smoke"
My favorite cigar right now is the Camacho Corojo (love 'em). The Camacho's are too pricey to smoke everday, so I decided to try the Edge at $2.50 a stick for a box of seconds on the internet. Tasted just as good as the $5.99 firsts at my tobacconist. Not as full as the Camacho, more medium to full. Burn was great all the way. The flavor spicy, a little wood, a little cream. The flavor stayed consistent through the whole smoke, nice, but no complexity. It's definitely not a Camacho, But a good cigar for sure. I will be buying more, especially with the price on the seconds.

"WHUF!"
A definite full-bodied cigar. This one has a very spicy robust start, with pretty strong flavors. Not the strongest cigar I've had but probably top 3. Unfortunately it tasted mostly like burning tires to me, very tarry and similar to the stronger Partagas that I don't particularly like. I like full-bore flavor but dislike the tar. The LGCR maduros have better balance, and the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel has much better flavor.

Yes, this is one of the best cigars I've ever smoked. This is one of those cigars that you hate to smoke because it is put together so well it like burning a piece of art. But after you smoke one of these you're glad you did. If this Cigar cost 2 to 3 times as much it would still be a bargain.

Not bad for the price. Not as strong as expected and had no real defined flavor profile, just ho hum. Beautiful cigar, though. Construction was top notch and burned real slow which would have been great if it had more taste. Not overly impressed. For a couple bucks more, I think the 1990 and 1992 are a better choice.
