"Glad I tried this brand"
This was the first Fonseca that I tried. I've been smokin for over 20 years and it's just one of those brands that I just never got around to. Just want to say, I will trying more of this blend in a larger size because I did not want this one to end. My impatient butt lit this up not too long after UPS delivered it to me. I will try to forget the rest in my humi for a while but I can't promise because I'm weak and undisciplined.

Finally a dog rocket with these. Harsh, Grassy, yucky. Tossed it just after half way. Could not get through it. Usually these are excellent. 2 years box time. $2.

"Ok, expected a bit more"
Got some in a sampler 6 months ago. Rugged looking, toothy stick with a slight sheen and no soft spots. Easy draw, plenty of smoke, long compact ash. Medium body, mild strength. Complex stick for the first 2/3: started out woody and a bit grassy/haylike, but not unpleasant. Turned toasty, nutty with some light, "green tea" kind of taste to it. Unfortunately the final third burned hot and was bitter with other off flavors. Surprising, since this had been resting nicely at 67%. Might try these again, but not any time soon.

One of the best bargains in stogiedom. I have enough now to say, buy these! You can get them at auction for a song. These come into their own with minimal box time and are a great everyday smoke.

"A must try at $2-ish."
I'm glad I stocked up on these over the years. I've yet to have a bad one. I find these mild to medium but with a nice slightly sweet wood, earth, and spice throughout. My sticks have about a year plus of age on them now. Highly recommended especially for the mild to medium crowd, gorillas only for breakfast.
Can be had for $2-ish at auction. 10 in value.

"Balanced"
A nicely balanced Cameroon -- mild to medium in body, but lots of flavor and a smooth transition at the mid-point from mild wood to rich earthiness. The wrapper here isn't overpowering; it just adds a well proportioned dose of spice. The last third is a little bit tart, but overall this is a nice little cigar. Not as refined as a Fuente Cameroon, but a much better value, all things considered.

"Cameroon Value"
I'm a Don Carlos fan, but I have to say, the VdF Sobrinos contend extremely well in the fine cammie class. They have classic cameroon sweetness with a touch of spice and, though a bit rough in appearance, they draw and burn spot on. And you absolutely cannot get this level of cameroon excellence elsewhere at such bargain prices. Great value here folks.

"A lost treasure?"
Not even sure where or when I got this stick, probably my neighbor. Although I like Fonceca cigars I don’t smoke that many, a habit this cigar may change. Nice construction, clean but ordinary appearance and a nice medium bodied smoking experience. Smooth, earthy taste with lots of smoke. Burned well and had a great aroma. Its been in the humidor for quite a while and showed no youth at all. From other reviews read it sounds like they are, for the most part, even good right out of the box. Great for folks like me with limited patience. I only smoked one folks but that one was VERY good and will be replaced in my rotation soon.

"surprise"
Toothy looking stick that is much fuller than your standard Fonseca. Instead of the normal cameroon flavors you have a steady base of earthiness with spice through the 1st third, sweet through the 2nd, and all flavors married throughout the 3rd. Even with the cameroon wrapper i should think that this will age well. Burnt well with a clean ash.

"A fine value"
Everything about this cigar, from the low price to the plain-brown wrapper hints at mediocrity. However, it is better than that. Mild/medium flavor on this young stick, with a ver round wood-earth-leather flavor and only an occasional note of "green-ness", which I expect will diminish with time. Draw and burn were good, as was the volume of flavorful smoke. Good now. Better with age? - Probably.

"Aged well."
Three more weeks of box time took the slight harshness out. I was left enjoying a very smokable, tasty, mild to medium bodied cigar. The flavors were of earth, that "cammy twang", and some wood all within a chewy, slightly sweet, tobacco base. I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED (probably not for the ultra full-bodied crowd)
I paid $2/stick on c-bid...a "10" in value.

"Nice for"
Rough looking, mottled brown, cameroon wrapper. Gauge said moisture was "good" in this cigar; but, it was young as it was only aged 2 weeks in my box. This smoked and burnt like a champ. Pleasant, slightly sweet and chewy straight tobacco flavor with a hint of that cameroon "twang". Had some expected bitterness due to its youth that will probably diminish with some box time. Nothing mindblowing here so far except the price. At $2/stick (c-bid) a "10" in value. I expect these to age nicely and score near 9. Will revisit these in two months or so.

The first half of this cigar is bitter and non-distinct. The second half is where the high rating comes from...smooth and sweet, but not wimpy. Construction is loose and the draw is very easy. Price is right.

"14 days of Christmas"
Great beginning to the 14 days of Christmas smoking. I have toasted and enjoyed several F Series and didn't know what to expect from the VdF. A spicy sweet flavor reminescent of the F but not as strong. A very relaxing strong side of medium smoke with nuances that keep you looking forward to the next puff. Reminds me of the Casa Torano, keeps your attention and does it character. I could see myself on the deck of the clubhouse sipping a cold one overlooking the 18th green, even though it's 25 degrees outside. Great draw and burn, probably one of the top 5 Dominicans I've had the pleasure of smoking. Silver/white ash holding tight at 2 inches as a little bitters mix with the sweet cream and spice. Not as strong as I had hoped but will have a place in my rotation for the right time it can be the perfect cigar.

"A Contender"
I love cameroons. The Don Carlos Beli is a favorite. The VdeF Sobrinos are right up there in performance and the classic cameroon profile of maple sweetness and spice. MATASA contends well with this one.

"Ugly, but makes up for it with complex flavor"
No. 14 in Cigar Aficionado's top 25 cigars of 2004. It's not a pretty cigar: the wrapper is veiny and spotted with some discolorations. But other than a slightly loose draw it smokes well with a fairly even burn and a solidly formed gray ash. It starts off tasting sour but soon improves turning creamy and nutty and then woody with a strong tea flavor; a complex smoke with a clean and refreshing finish. I do agree that time in the humidor improves it although that's probably true for any cigar. The reasonable price makes this cigar worth a try (after aging it, of course).

"Complex is the word"
Let this cigar sit in the humi for 2 months before lighting it last night and boy was a happy I did. It may not look like a beauty but the complexity on this cigar is out of this world. The first ash is pretty one dimensional with earthy and nutty notes, but once it heats up this stick went from saffron, to spice, to chocolate and at the end I even picked up a meaty flavor and what I can only describe as shrimp (?) All around I was very pleased with this cigar for the price and was wowed by it's complexity, very much a must try. A little time in the humi may settle it a bit and fix the bitterness some have noted,

Bought them on a web special for about 2.25 each, saw the ad in CA and the rating, not a 92 but a nice smoke, good construction, nice draw and ash with a mild slightly sweet spicey taste. Would make a nice everyday smoke for about 2.50 online

Lightly box pressed, this medium bodied Cameroon is really pretty good. It has just about everything I expect from a Cameroon cigar....a nice spice tone, hints of sweetness, hickory notes in the sinus & barnyard in the finish. It drew very well & had a pretty white ash.

"Mild and smooth"
I tired this at a tasting held at my local cigar shop. I sometimes smoke Fonsecas, but they tend to be a bit too light in flavor for my tastes. The Fonseca rep said this was rated highly in CA and I should give it a try. It was nicely constructed and drew very well from the get-go, with lots of smoke. But the flavor never really came in; just a few bare hints of sweetness and coffee. Bottom line: too bland for me, but others might enjoy it. Price of $4 is in line with Web prices.
