"not as good as smaller rings"
While still an excellent cigar I seem to like the smaller ring sizes better. I had a bit of a harder time keeping this lit and didn't like the proportion of filler:wrapper as much as the corona gorda. The aroma and flavor were still very good though.

"Praise Ashton"
I gotta say ive been losing a little faith the last few VSG's ive smoked both being a torpedo and another 52+ ring gauged cigar. I noticed those bigger gauged cigars dont do this great blend justice I guess it turn a finese cigar into a powerhouse which is not what I think they invisioned with this cigar, just too much punch- in those larger cigars in this line -for me.This cigar as well as the robust IMHO capture what this cigar is all about, a woody, leathery, even tangy towards the end masterpiece . this has reasserted itself in my top 5 .

"Agree with previous reviews..."
I have had a few of these, each one hoping to win me over to VSG's as a go to cigar... and alas they let me down. They are nice, good flavored, consistant cigars that are relatively one dimensional, no dynamic flavors that unfold. Too much hype, expectations and $. For the price of experimentation, I am going elsewhere. Other Ashtons - puro sol, and s. cristobal are more dynamic or Stick with Padrons for full bodied.

"to much hipe"
I have had many VSG's, but none the belicoso. I loved the vsg's at first, but the more different cigars i try, the worse these seem to get. I feel this is a pretty good cigar, but not one of the best. The flavor is the same threwout the cigar, with no change. The burn was the best part about it, but was not a great draw. This is most likely my last vsg for a while.

awesome strong flavour. strong leather and woody notes. a little bit of spice, with good balance that doesn't overwhelm the other flavours. a definite staple in my humi. but like others have said, a little on the pricey side. you can get other great smokes for a lot less.

"very very mild cigar"
im from Europe,so ive been smoking nothing but cubans so far.finally in usa i have possibility to try all best non cuban cigars, opus anejo diamond padron etc(they are much cheaper in usa than europe and available to buy.got 5 sticks of each brand and thats my first review of this stick:well first of all these are very very mild, kind of girlish cigars, good for cigarette smokers who inhale, they wont get any buzz smoking this piece.taste is blunt ,nothing really appealing in these sticks, some sweetness much wors than illusion or robusto,i smoked the 5 that i had but to te honest i will never buy these again.,waste of money for 10$ per stick but looks like fuente family really think they make best cigars in the world and demand the extra price for it.i just think they want to make enough money because when they lift embargo fuente probably will go out of business.and thats not a joke.

An example of a perfect short belicoso. Superb construction. Lush draw. Perfume aroma with notes of leather and earth. Some spice at the second third. Power and balance all in one little smoke. Full bodied and elegant. Delicioso. Will really improve with age.

"Smooth but Powerful"
This is a very regal cigar. Great construction and smooth leathery smoke. Lots of big flavors and a considerable nicotine kick, but not unmanageable. I have no complaints except for the price, but for a cigar of this magnitude the price should be expected. In the same league as Opus X and Diamond Crown, but in my opinion better than either of those: better balanced than the Opus and bolder than the Diamond Crown. A great celebration cigar to smoke after a big meal.

"Paid too much."
These are expensive out here in CT. For the money I spent on this, I could have had a Pedron 1964 Imperial, or almost three Camacho Corojos. This was a pretty decent cigar, but please don't pay $18 for it. It's not worth it. It's gorgeous and impressive and all, but the flavor is kind of one-dimesional. The last inch finally gave me the flavor I was hoping for from the begining. For a better full-bodied smoke at much more reasonable price, I'd go with a Camacho or a Rocky Patel.

"Love is this smoke"
Wow what a great smoke this one is. I love'em. So far the ones i've smoked had great construction and a perfect burn, cool and straight. They hold a good ash too. Now the flavor was outstanding for me as I like a strong smoke with gobs of flavor and this cigar delivers it all. Hard to explant the flavor though, all I know is I LOVE this smoke.

"New Year Day smoke"
Just dad my New Year's day smoke. What a worthy smoke! I admire the beautiful wrapper and the construction was perfect. I had mine resting the humi for about 2 weeks since I got it. It felt firm but soft to touch and the color was darkish brown with only several veins.

The light was perfect and after two or three puffs, we were off to the races. This is a bold smoke and let's you know it from the get go. Peppery with a woody finish. The draw was smooth and easy. The smoke was thick and rich white that hangs around for a bit. A wonderful medium to full bosy smoke in my humble opinion. Mind you, I smoked this while walking my dogs and I had the ash going with a perfect burn to about an 1 7/8" before it fell. Then it held for another 1 1/4" These speak for the solid construction.

I am glad I have four more in the humi. I will definetly save these for special occassions. Happy New Year to all. I hope your smokes are all as special

"A truly excellent cigar"
Let me state the negatives out front. Found the wrapper to break up and the construction not ideal. It's not cheap either. But once this got going, the flavor just kept coming. A full-bodied, very substantive cigar. Smoked it right to the nub, and will be looking to find more (hopefully a bit better price if possible).

"amazing smoke"
Great beautiful trunk pressed cigar. My main complaint is that it can be tough to find and it is expensive. Draw was perfect. I think it would have burned completely without losing the pure white ash if I hadn't been inattentive (party on) and caused it to go out once. Great complex flavor that seemed to change constantly. I think this is up there with the best of the stogies!

THIS is what I'm talking about. I've loved this line of cigars since I had my first last year. Budget won't allow me to endulge as much as I would like but this is about as close to a perfect cigar as it gets for me.

"HOLY Smoke"
Yes, it must be "holy" to be so awesome. Remember, this is the EXACT SAME wrapper being used on the very hard to find "Opus X" line. With that said, what an incredible smoke from start to finish. I bought a box and every one has been a consistent masterpiece! Nicley wrapped, box pressed cigar had a perfect draw and burned evenly for the most part, letting out a white ploom of smoke after each puff. Full-bodied, incredibly rich and complex with a smoothness only seen in top-of-the-line stoagies. Many little subtleties and nuances hit my palate from the beginning right on up to the end with many woody undertones prevailing.
This really reminds me of the Cuban Cohiba "Siglo VI," only not as expensive and a bit more mature in its taste. The Bucanero Belicoso Classico was similar as well.

"broken my cigar rut"
Could it really be true that I have broken my cigar rut and found a new favorite? The construction was just like I like, soft compliant cigar, effortless draw and dead even burn. Snow white ash that tennacaiously held on till the last. Like all cigars with Dominican tobacco the smoke very fragrant with hits of vanilla. Flavor was round and full bodied with good strong peppery bite and light aftertaste indicative of a perfectly aged and refined cigar. I will smoke another one to confirm my hopes that I have broken my cigar rut.

"Very average"
This cigar has been in the humidor for a while, I was really eager to smoke it. At the end of the day, a pretty average experience. A very dull flavor, just of burned leafs (not very flattering, I believe), good combustion and that's it. Not to be totally dismissed, but there are dozen of other cigars (even dominican) which are far far better. The worst (to me ) Ashton yet, other were very good to excellent.

Must have had a bad one, although the burn and draw were fine. Had a large vein that kept jabbing my lip when I inhaled, very irritating.
