After a couple of months of age this cigar chaged for the better, nice cholate and cocoa flavors with some spice, it burned nice all the way...i truly enjoy this one

Slow consistent burn with lots of smoke early that tapered near the end. Complex flavors that were chocolatey. Beautiful cigar and will definitely buy more.

Very dissapointed, first half was great nice earthy and chcolate flavor very sweet and creamy but it had burning problems all the way it went off and canoe a lot..the second half was bitter and harsh ill let them rest in the humi for some time and ill try it again because i cant believe that was the real Torano

"Chocolates and Television"
The shape reminded me of a TV circa 1959. Beautiful appearance. The taste was dominated by chocolate flavors. A bit simple, but very pleasing. The burn was completely even - completely - and lasted quite a long while. The taste was a bit drier and spicier at the end, but had none of the "char" alleged by others.

"With All Your Flaws ... I Love Thee Still!"
Yes, the Exodus 1959 Torpedo is a flawed cigar. Yes, the last third the flavor wanes a bit. Yes, it lacks complexity. Yes, the burn is a little off sometimes. But, taking all that into consideration, this is still an excellent cigar, especially when you factor in the price. It has a rich chocolate-sweet taste that I imagine a 1959 Cuban might have had. I've smoked these for a couple of years now and the torpedo is the best size of the group, the toro is very good but not like this baby. Last night I sat under the stars freezing by brass monkeys off, but this cigar kept me out there. Accept the weaknesses, embrace the strengths. Even the Venus de Milo is missing her limbs, but still a masterpiece - kind of like the CT Exodus 1959 Torpedo.

"Expected more flavor"
This square pressed beauty looked dark and delicious. An exceptional burn that didn't need to be touched up. The taste is where this otherwise gorgeous cigar starts to falter. I was struggling to find any hints of complex flavors normally found in a premium cigar. This cigar starts out with woodsy notes and finishes with a dry burnt wood aftertaste. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the flavor didn't improve and actually got worse during the last third of the cigar. Don't let this cigars good looks fool you, the taste will disappoint.

"Wish it tastes as good as it looks"
With its big pressed shape and dark wrapper, this cigar is eye candy. No. 5 in Cigar Aficionado's top 25 cigars of 2006. It has a prettty good draw but an erratic burn. It's medium-bodied (like most Torano products)with wood and cocoa flavors that unfortunately turn charry in the later stages of the smoke. Although it doesn't taste as good it looks, it's still an OK smoke at a reasonable price especially for the size.

"Great first half, not so great second..."
I picked one of these up for an afternoon smoke since the weather has been so nice lately. A pretty good looking stick. Smooth, lightly veined wrapper with a sharp box press. The cap was sloppy looking but it still cut just fine. Opened up with cedar notes and leather on the finish. Draw was super tight until after the first ash. After that things went beautifully. Very unique flavor, sort of a sweet bread taste to the smoke. Burn was perfect as well. Then I set it down at the half way point to go inside and help the wife unload groceries.......
When I returned it had put itself out which didn't surprise me since I had been gone for a bit. Re-light was easy but but the burn went downhill and it began to tunnel almost immediately. After correcting this it began to burn badly and would not stay lit unless I was chugging away. Occasionally I could let it sit long enough to cool down and the sweet flavor would return but would require a re-light after that. Finally, with about an inch and a half to go it went out again and I didn't bother to re-light. I plan on trying another one of these in the near future but probably a smaller size that I'll be able to put away without having to get up for anything. I mean for the price why not? It was a great tasting smoke that deserves another shot. Just my two cents.

"Good if it smokes"
The cigar has good characteristics if it isn't plugged. Draw is the only complaint I would have. It was a very highly rated cigar by Cigar Aficionado. I bought a box and many of them would not smoke properly.

"Very nice"
I enjoyed this well made cigar. The 1959 Gold has a nice flavor of unsweetened chocolate, a flawless burn and is a very pretty box dark pressed torpedo. I heard Carlos Torano claim the Gold Exodus has his favorite in the line and I can see why. However, I like the Silver 1959 and the 1916 Cameroon just a little better.

"Presentation = A+"
Simply a gorgeous cigar pre-light. The wrapper is silky and smells delicious. This cigar produced good volumes of smoke, and the burn was nice and even. I was puzzled by the flavor (earthy/leathery?), could not decide whether I personally liked it or not.

This is a wonderful cigar. A bit stronger than the Casa it has a complex and compelling flavor from start to finish. Spicey and leathery on the palate this guy delivers the goods. It looks as good as it tastes and is a very attractive cigar with a nice box press. Like most other Toranos this is a great bargin. Highly recommended

"Luck of the Draw"
I had been smoking cigars for about a year when I took my 4 year old daughter to my favorite cigar store. It was kind of a father-daughter day, so I asked her to pick out a cigar for me. She picked the Exodus 1959 and they have been the center of my regular rotation ever since. A beautiful cigar, well-made. Draw is great, very hearty taste, and the thick smoke can only be described as majestic. Goes great with a glass of Laphroaig.

"A good stogie"
This took me almost two hours to smoke. That gave me ample time to see that this cigar had a strong burn and construction paiered with basic, but good flavor. I usually like a little more complexity in a stick this big though. Still, a nice smoke.

"unbelievable"
Of all the complaints I may have from other lesser cigars, this one shines in every area they have failed. I love them. the unique rectangular box press makes for a nice handling stogie. And the taste is remarkable w/ a mellow finish. Construction is top notch (I rated 10) Smooth consistent easy draw, and lots of tasty smooke. It's a robust, meaty taste w/very little spice at all, but VERY staisfying - one of my fav's so far...

"Like the 1964 Maduro Cigars?"
Then you should love this cigar. After trying (and loving) the Padron 1964 Maduro torpedo, I knew I wanted to try cigars that might be similiar (maduro wrapper, box shapped, etc). I took a gamble on this as I don't normally smoke Carlos Torano's. So, I bought a five pack to start. Let me tell you, when I saw it I knew it was going to be a winner. The wrapper is as delicate as any Padron, but the shape of the Exodus 59 is wider than a Padron 1964 torpedo. But, the smooth taste and lots of smoke definitely brings similiarites. Give it a try and I think you will also be impressed.

"Consistently good"
After about 6 months in the humidor these cigars really hadn't lost much in strength. They were strongly cocoa at the start and changed to a med/full maduro with a bit of tanginess and a bit of peppery spice. In the second half a pretty strong oaky flavor showed up. The aging definitely brought out the smoothness in these cigars, without degrading the punch of flavor.

I am a big fan of CAO so I wanted to see what the house that makes them could do for themselves. Fantastic cigar, smooth with chocolate and coffee flavors. Very consistent, a little one dimensional but as someone said earlier "it's a really good dimension". Nice finish you really get a good caramelization of the tobacco at the end. For the price you can't beat it.

"Fantastic."
Mmmm...Mmmm good. An amazingly rich stew of meaty tobacco goodness with a slightly sweet finish. Perfect burn and draw. I can't imagine anyone (other than the extreme ends of mild and full cigar smokers) not completely enjoying these. The only negatives I could mention would be that this wrapper just didn't have that dark chocolate shine that most have and the flavor was a tad one dimensional (but a good dimension). So what.

and this cigar is smooooootthhhh. Construction and appearance continue to be top notch, burn was nice, some relight issues, and the finish is just right for my taste. Hints of wood and nuts the first 1/2 inch.. Beyond that, spicy undertones develop. Wish it were stronger, but the low price makes this a highly recommended try if not purchase.

"Simply wonderful."
Are you kidding me? At $4 a stick one of the best values out there today. (You should be able to score a 5 pak on c-bid for $15...I did.) I've smoked at least 3 of these and all have been fantastic. Aging produces an attractive shiny chocolate bar look. Solid construction gives you an easy gobs of smoke, enjoyable, relaxing hour and 20 min. smoking experience. Some minor uneven burn issues from time to time. The important thing is that the flavor is first rate (especially compared to the price). Starts a bit peppery but then you get a meaty, chewy, yummy, tobaccoey flavor that should hit your palate just right. Has a very nice slightly sweet earth finish. I find these sticks go well with scotch or a tawny port. I like a big glass of water with a lemon slice to chase. Relax and enjoy.

I really enjoyed every minute of this cigar. First of all, this cigar looks great, has a great box press, is nice and firm. It started off with a little tight draw but opened up after about five minutes. I smoked it on the same day I bought it which might explain the draw. The flavor is mild to medium and the cigar lasted a little over an hour. A little pricey but worth it. I highly recommend it.

What a beautiful cigar. At first I thought it was like a stripper, good looking and teasing with flavor, but then it delivered. Smooth and creamy but sweet and tasty like eating desert. Lots of cedar too. Good draw with a fair burn. It reminded me of a Padron Annivarsario but cheaper! It’s like going home with the stripper at no extra cost. I’m adding this to my top 10 list.

Went to the local ceegar store and was searching for some Sancho Panza's and happened to start a conversation with the owner, who then invited me to try this cigar. The look and feel of it was superb. A pity to cut it with the blade. 🙂 The box press did it job and the cigar burned perfectly. The overall construction of the cigar was excellent! Then can the smoke...This cigar was medium and very smooth. I immediately got a nice spicy/peppery flavor...something that I was looking for...so I was pleased. I usually smoke a more full bodied cigar, but found this one to be super. It made it down to the last third with no harsh surprise and allowed me to smoke it to the end. 🙂 A keeper for the humidor for sure!

I must have gotten a good one. Not sure of the age, I got this from a friend at work. Good meaty smoke with plenty of backbone, long finish. Everything about this cigar is awesome except the most important thing - flavor! Here is a beautiful, dark cigar that looks so good, until you light it. The flavor was thin and papery. It developed kind of an ashy taste that wasn't appealing. I won't buy this one again.

"Alas . . ."
I expected something special from this cigar. But, I was really disappointed as to the flavor. At first, the mocha and spicey flavor gave me a hint of some potential for this good looking cigar. Then things went down hill around half-time. It started getting too ashy for my tastebuds. Towards the last three inches, the flavor gave me an image that I was sucking the exhaust pipe of my Camaro. Maybe I didn't give it enough time in my humidor. I'll try again.

"Came up short"
The floral scent of this cigar promised so much. The wrapper was appealing and the cap appeared to be very neat. A tight draw is almost forgivable in a Cuban, but not from anything else. This smoke had a woody flavor that was reminiscent of a 2x4. The flavor seemed to wane with every dray and eventually all that was left was dry papery finish. Perhaps some time will help the other one that I bought.

This cigar is nice to look at - a flat pressed dark maduro torp, although it felt a bit spongy. The fair amount smoke it produced was mild/medium bodied and smooth with a taste of leather/earth. It never developed any bitterness, or any complexity of flavors. I found it unoffensive but boring.

A true pleasure to hold and gaze at while smoking. I found this to be full of rich flavors of robust tobacco and a earthy, slightly dark chocolate taste. A wee bit of harshness crept in at under a inch, but the upside is it took well over an hour and a half to get there! Construction-wise, this has got to be one of the finest constructed cigars available. Perfect burn, a joy to watch. Nice clean draw and exact ash. A lot of care went into this cigar. "Reminiscent of...."
I hate to say it but it reminds me of the Cielo "Zeus". It was a beautiful presentation; coming in a unique three tier chest, with uniform cuban square pressed Torpedoes, silky Habana 2000 wrapper, and an inviting aroma. It was firm without being hard to the touch. The burn was fairly even, with lots of smoke. It has a peppery accent, but overall it has a very earthy taste. In fact without smoking dirt, I don't think you will find a earthier cigar (which is why it reminded me of a Cielo "Zeus", which is another very earthy cigar). Usually, I say that aditional humidor time won't improve a bad cigar, but this cigar isn't bad......it's just young (as evidenced by the billows of dark smoke) I think I'll put the box in my humidor for 6 months and try one again. I'll let you know if they've improved!
