La Gloria Cubana (D.R.) Hermoso

This review is based on one cigar...the natural wrapper: Beautifull in appearence...but looks can be decieving...Exceptional construction, nice looking and feeling wrapper...but the fun ends there...starts out ok, just ok...woody notes, then quickly goes south...bitter acrid spice creeps up...more bitter and sour than spicey...this was not a result of a vein in the long filler either...one dimensional...I stuck with it out of curiosity, the acrid bitterness prevailed and increased in potency...what happened? I don't know, I won't revisit...I like some of the other LGCs, but not this one...one thing I can't understand though...the aftertaste when finnished smoking was pleasant...haha go figure!

One of the treats my 'local' had were two boxes of these. No one seemed to touch them, they were $3/stick and I bought them all...hard thick wrapper and a beafy heavy flavor I fell in love with. Obviously these were old. I've ordered two boxes from different retailers since and give up. Blah. Whimpy wrapper and cardboard flavor. Almost cry to think what happened to this stick. Avoid it.

Hmmm, I thought this would smoke like a Wavell, but no. This was actually stronger... Not much complexity in the maduro wrapper.

Not mine though. The initial phase was slightly bitter-that faded soon, and it started building rapidly in flavor and complexity....good right? Well, it could have been if the flavor was! overall, not a bad smoke-ideal draw, multi phase development....but it's just another splash into the vast pool of mediocrity. I smoked this with a few rounds of espresso in the a.m. and it served it's purpose, not bad, but nothin' to write home about.

I usually like La Glorias, so I bought a box of these and they were nasty... so I sent for another box thinking that I just got a bad one... well they're still nasty, don't waste your money buy the serie R's or the Reserva Figurados, they're more but they're a million times better.

These little cigars smoke like a true robusto unlike the size it is. Smokes very creamy with lots of full smoke and pleasant on the palate. For the size and the color of the wrapper, you get a suprisingly well balanced smoke. They last longer than you think and almost perfect to be quick but relaxing at the same time. For the price and 30 to a box, you can't go wrong. Highly recomended.

Overall nice flavor but did not finish well, a little hot toward the end.

These produce a nice, thick smoke with a lovely "toasty" flavor. A mild bitter aftertaste which seems to tasty hoppy with beer or coffee-like with something else. I haven't experienced any harshness with these, although they sometimes get a little hot when smoked below the band. These are my favorite smokes for the price.
