"Great maddie"
Now this is one good maduro. Thing I'll buy a box of these. Very good in the construction department and very very tasty. Lots of flavor without being to bold or harsh. Flavors of cocoa pepper earth and coffee, complex and full this is a finger burner.

"One of the best Robustos"
Smoked a few La Glorias before, I had heard this was one of their most popular. The dark wrapper was nice with just a few bumps. Tasted nice and sweet, cut easily with a good draw. Ignited easily and delivered coffee, cocoa, and spice flavor immediately. I thought of chocolates with hot peppers which is what this abundance of flavor reminded me of. The burn was very straight without needing a touch-up. The flavor stayed with this cigar right through to the nub. Delicious! Wished I had more. One of the best sticks I've had in months. A definite purchase for my humidor.

"Make sure you eat first."
Smoked one of these a little while ago sitting out in my garage watching the day go by. This had been sitting at about 66% RH for the last month or so and today was judgment day for this little guy. A somewhat rough looking wrapper with some good oils coming off of it. Clipped the cap and lit up. Draw was rather tight to begin with and it didn't want to stay lit either. Clipped another 1/8 of an inch off and took the torch to it which seemed to fix the problem. After cooling down the flavors began to come through in force. Tastes of black pepper and leather dominated the rich, chewy smoke. On the second half a classic maduro sweetness appeared on the finish. A very full bodied cigar. Luckily I had eaten before lighting this one up as I did get a little queasy during the first 1/3 of the smoke. Very strong but it still maintained a nice balance of power and taste. As I said before the draw was corrected after a second clip but the burn still had issues. More so on the last 1/3 when the cigar tunneled a couple of times. Overall, this was a very good smoke. Lots of power but lots of flavor as well. At $4.00 a stick (MSRP) this one is definitely worth a try.

"Miami v.2"
I suspected age would help these, and so far I'm not disappointed. It's not there yet, but some of the bitter bite of youth has already gone. Sloppy cap was an aesthetic drawback, but the burn and draw were exemplary. This thing is strong! I've always thought of LGCs as medium bodied, but this one approached El Rico power. By halfway, it's full-on strong. More coffee (on the first half) and pepper than I noticed last time. Wow. I bought these as an inexpensive, everyday maduro, but I'm now thinking these will be special if I put them up for a year or two. Exceeding expectations. Who knew?

"Miami version"
I've always thought the DR-made LGCs were pretty ho-hum. But since folks swear that the ones produced at El Credito Miami are notably better, I picked up at box today while in Little Havana. (Also saw the arson ravaged shell of the LTC factory a few blocks down Calle Ocho... a crying shame.) Since I haven't had a DR Wavell Maduro in a couple of years, I can't settle the Miami vs. DR debate. But I can say this is a good smoke. It looks spectacular. And lots of flavor at first blush -- clove, pepper, earth, anise. But those notes are of the hit-and-run variety, rather than melding together to give it a consistent character. Age may address that issue, of course. The finish isn't as long as I would like, and it turns charry on the last third. Despite those gripes, I think there's an excellent smoke in here that needs some time to come out.

"improved a bit"
Althout I was still not all that impressed with the flavor of this cigar...at least not for a LGC, the one I just smoked did a better job at keeping my interest over time. The flavors were smooth until the end where I finaly got some of that old LGC strength that have made these famous. All in all, it is a good cigar that could be great with a better blend.

"Value smoke"
A rugged and oily wrapper covers this maduro in the popular 5 by 50 size. The draw is pretty good but it could burn better as it' s uneven and tends to go out during the latter half of the smoke. Peppery spice dominates at the beginning but is balanced somewhat by earth and licorice flavors later on. A decent smoke for the most part; the price is probably the most attractive feature (less than $2.50 a stick).

"Good straightforward smoke"
Not to complex, medium bodied cigar that tasted mostly of earth and mild spice. I didn't get the grassy flavors that others seem to pick up from this cigar. It was soft so I feared burn problems but was pleasantly suprised by the straight burn and good draw. Definitely worth the small price.

"Hope these get better"
I bought a five pack of these and had good expectations. The cigar looked nice and smelled wonderful, rich bold smell and nice dark wrapper to match. Initial light up, first draws and I was starting to sing its praise but after the first inch that faded to a flat and grassy taste. The rich full flavor and spice was gone and never returned. I will let the others set and see if they get better with some time in the humi.

"La Gloria hmmmm"
La Gloria Cubana are usually a safe bet to be high quality and have lots of flavor, without a super-premium price. Well, we hit 2 out of 3 here. The price was right, and the look and overall construction of this cigar was nearly flawless...love marudos anyway 🙂 The flavor is where they lost me. Oh, it was fine at first, but took on a grassy flavor and stayed that way to the end. I have been educated to interpret "grassy" as "underaged tobacco".
The demand for La Gloria cigars seems to have pushed the line into over-production..which raises their profits and lowers the cigar quality. It won't be long and they will see that people will turn to other cigars. If it is cheap, and tastes that way..well, you get the point.
As far as having to stick a cigar away in my personal humidor to properly age/condition it before I smoke it....well....that is bunk. A good cigar should be ready to smoke the day you buy it. Although I know first hand that some cigars do improve with storage time in a well maintained humidor, it should never be necessary on the consumer's part. La Gloria and other cigar makers need to be sure that the consumer does not have to be come a secondary aging/curing step in their cigar making processes. I for one will go elsewhere.

"Good Rainy Day Smoke"
The secret to these is in the aging. I think they are released a little too green. After at least 6 months in the humi they're great. The one I smoked last night has been in since 2001. Smacks of black coffee, chocolate, cedar and a little brown sugar. Medium bodied. Clean ash.

"First and last"
This cigar was a bit veiny, but maduro wrappers tend to be just that. It has a nice easy draw with clouds of bellowing white smoke, yet tended to burn a little uneven at times. The ash was nice and light indicating good soil conditions. Little stronger then I tend to like in a cigar, I would guess moderate to full bodied. Each time the cigar burned uneven again it started to taste dry and a little bitter.

"Straight Up Busto"
Nicely uniform dark chocolate wrapper, decent construction though didn't burn sharp (no relights necessary) and even tempered flavor. A better than average finish--stays moderate, no bitterness, and a very mild aftertaste. Not exceptional, but friendly. Like my neighbor who has to come over and peer over the fence whenever I'm picking up dog shit in the back yard. A nice gesture but not anything to add to the memoirs.

"Ugh!"
This beautiful cigar belied a terrible smoke. The dark maduro wrapper was oily and tempting, however the taste was dry and woody with grassy overtones throughout. The flavor reminded me of the cheapo "horse dung" cigars my grandpa used to smoke. I was gravely disappointed. That said, the other posts in this forum tend to be favorable, so once my memory fades, I'll tentatively try another. Hopefully I just picked the bad apple the first time.

"Decent but a bit stinky."
Excellent value if you like the typical Partagas "stinky stogie" flavor. If they could tame down the tarry overtones, the underlying flavor and complexity would be outstanding. But the tar overpowers everything else, leaving a one-dimensionally strong and semi-pleasant 40 minute smoke. Medium-to-full bodied.

"Still Among the Best"
Silky dark wrapper on this spicy full-strength, medium flavor cigar. Construction that you can appreciate both aesthetically and through the smoothest draw I have encountered in months. Even if good, construction not perfect: an initial uneven burn evened out within the first 1/2 inch and the smooth draw nevertheless required a rare relight. Emphatically not a "one-note" cigar: develops from an initial sweetness to a slightly more bitterly balanced spiciness that increases along the length of the cigar. Slight cherry undertones. Smoke this little powerhouse after a full meal, especially if not accustomed to full-strength cigars. Strength (bot not the flavor) matches the mildest Bolivar Cubans. Have yet to find another cigar for 2 or 3 times the price that approaches the enduring quality of the LGC Wavell Maduro.

"Inglorious La Gloria"
Nice appearance and construction, with good, not too veigny, oily wrapper. The wrapper had a very earthy and somewhat spicy smell, which, however, did not develop once the cigar was lit. The burn was uneven, but the draw was correct and consistent, if a little tight. The most disappointing thing about this cigar was the flavor, or lack thereof: vague notes of wood and peppery spice, quickly overwhelmed by bitterness and a very dry and bitter finish. A smoke not to be repeated.

"Excellente!"
This is a really nice maduro. No big veins in the wrapper or in the filler. Decent oiley look. Has a nice strong maduro flavor with no nasty bitterness. The earthy flavor at the beginning is short-lived, and the flavor is great all the way until the smoke gets too hot to smoke well (with about 1 1/2" left). My only complaint is that the wrapper started to unravel a bit at the cap when I cut it off, but these things happen. Burned a little unevenly but nothing unacceptable and I have that problem with pretty much all large maduros anyway.

My friend told me this cigar has a good rating, so I went to a nearby tobacco shop and bought one of these cigars. It sat in the humidor for 3 weeks before I tasted it. It had an oily wrapper, and only a few veins were visible. When I smelled the cigar (before I lit it), I found it unpleasant. This cigar had a loose draw, and I didn¡¦t really like this cigar. I didn¡¦t really think this cigar is as good as people have told me.

As another reviewer said, this has yet to disappoint. These are probably shipped as aged as they'll get, but the taste is wonderful. Slight construction flaws, very veiny wrapper, could use a better cap, but a nice cigar for the price. Taste is wonderful. Medium-heavy body, plenty of smoke...slight uneven burn.
