"An All-Time Favorite"
4 months humi time.
This is the last one of these beauties I purchased in a 5-pack 4 months ago and they're just a fantastic smoke. Shows a bumpy, veiny and rustic dark brown maduro wrapper. Has a very solid, densely packed feel. Cuts and lights easily with a moderate amount of smoke production. Burn produces a slighty flaky, but tenacious and otherwise finely layered white-gray ash. Maintained a slightly tight draw, but not enough to affect the enjoyment or the continuous burn. Fantastic medium-full flavor profile with smooth, but assertive notes of tanned leather, toasted wood, cream, dark chocolate and a touch of spice. Flavors remain smooth yet full right down to the nub.
If you like moderately fuller tasting maduro cigars that at the same time don't make your head spin, this is a great one to try.

"Srprisingly smooth"
A dark oily wrapper and a rich leather scent. This beauty had my tounge salivating as soon as i lit it up, its hint of tannins and wood remind me of english pipe tobacco. the ash is a tight grey staying on 1/3 of the way. about the time of the first ash drops you pick up a rich creamy coffee taste that really does not get any stronger. the smoke is rich and a pleasing aroma. No touch ups or uneven burn. I never though that i would smoke a cigar this size down to the butt, but i do every time. a great way to spend a hour and fifteen minutes.

"Big'un"
This big boy smoked a little fast and dry. Very creamy mild flavor and body with a hint of soap and bitters. I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have.

"Maduro version."
Very solid smoke with above average straight forward flavor. Not much depth or complexity but I enjoyed it a lot. The wrapper was dark and splotchy with a few lumps. The burn was terrific with no touch ups needed. The band slid easily showing it had been well aged. The finish was clean and was just over medium in body with a little spice and pepper.

"Wow!"
I have been enjoying cigars for years, but have never finished a whole line up of a large cigar line like LGC. As we all know, the same tobacco has different nuances and flavor from one shape to the other. I smoked the natural in this shape and thought it was good, but the maduro was heaven. My ratings for this line are usally between high 7s all the way up to 10 with no specific wrapper dominating. If there is any dominance it would most likely be in the natural and occassionally a maduro is all so perfect. Smoking this one this morning just after breakfast was wonderful. Lots of lucious smoke and a stout grey ash. I tasted the complexity of the aged wrapper and the sweetness of the long leaf filler. Great smoke.

"Ashman Said it Best"
Ashman said it best, "Nice cream, some sweetness, wood, leather, good spice and bite. What else do you need? Perfect draw and good burn deliver a medium bodied smoke that you will want to linger on the tongue. Picks up to medium+ around halfway. Man, this would be one of my top 10 if it had more kick." I could have used more sweetness and strength. I am convinced the Torpedo is the best of what I have smoked in this line.

"Even Better..."
After almost a year longer in the humi (see 10/20/05 review) This is even a smoother but not whimpy smoke. flawless draw without being loose. Rich from the get go and doesn't stop. Smoked it to the band. Excellent. Its moments like these that confirms that aging really does improve smokes. Enjoy.

"A Favorite"
I am offering my thoughts on the maduro, as I've not had the pleasure of the EMS. Can you say big? Kids could use this as a walking stick if it wasn't such a waste. A very well constructed stick that is almost black. Flavors are earthy, with chocolate and leather. Very smooth if you let them age for a few months. The burn has always been even in my experience. I believe that Native Americans may have used these as the source for their smoke signals - the volume is tremendous. Daily or for a special occasion, set aside some time for a long, glorious experience with Charles the Great.

"Nice size"
After smoking quite a few LGC's, this was my first big dog, aside from a Special Edition Figurado. I really enjoyed the way it felt in my hand, and of course the taste is great. Smoked a good 2 hours, very enjoyable indeed.

"black beauty"
A great cigar to spend some time with and you will at least 2 hours. It's like talking to an old man not a perfect exterior but mellowed with time and lots of character, once you get to know him. And just like with the old man you'll find the time spent to be well rewarded.

"Oh yeah!!"
I've been smoking for about 10 years now. I've yet to have refined my pallette enough to be able to taste "citrus" or "leather" or "nutmeg" or any other flavor other than tobacco. Once I noted chocolate...in an Onyx...but that is a different story. I can say that for a medium-bodied smoke...this is a beauty. These have never been aesthetically beautiful...but the taste is marvelous. Very full-flavored...but in a medium-bodied smoke. Lit nicely...burned perfectly. This is one I would give to a friend who wants to start smoking cigars. I love these.
