"Right on Par"
This smoke fell exactly in line with other reviews. Great dark grey ash, with some spice right up front, mellowing out into sweet full smoke. Only to have a touch more spice re-appear and mellowing out at the end again! 1.5 hours smoke, with a few warm ups required. I'd love to try a larger gauge!

"Over Priced"
Good looking cigar, well made, great burn. For the money a Trinidad Fundador has alot more taste. The last quarter of the OpusX was hot and bitter.

"Another good smoke from AF"
I really enjoyed the size and shape of this Opus. It drew well and had all the spice and flavor of other X's, yet this one seemed to mellow out in the middle. Silky smooth and then changed again to hit you with a little more spice at the band. Good till the end. Solid, heavy, powerful smoke. Needed a couple of re-lights, but then again I might have let it set too long.

"An enjoyable experience"
I have a bunch of these put away and decided to light one up last night before dinner. What a wonderful smoke. It burned beautifully and the draw was smooth. The flavors were there and reminded me of how good Fuente cigars are. I'm very glad that I have more of these put away.

"Very nice!"
My daughter picked this up for father's day and I've kept it in the humi since then. Smoked it floating in a pool lounge with a couple of frosty ones.
I thought that this cigar looked like it was perfectly constructed. It lasted longer than I expected - nearly 1.5 hours. The aroma was great and the draw was perfect (for me). Every puff was smooth as silk, I never had to re-light it, and I got a nice little buzz.
Overall a great smoke, but next time would like to try one of the fat ones. 🙂

"right there with expectations"
i was thoroughly impressed by this guy. this is my first opus, having just recently performed well for my MBA interview in philly, so i strolled to holts in center city (dam fine store if i do say) and picked this up to smoke at the cigar bar upstairs. i was surprised by the length of time this guy smoked... 1.5 hours for such a little guy! Disappoint came when i had to relight it several times after it got past halfway. also, i was expecting a more reddish tint to the wrapper, but i will say it was a well grown wrapper with beautiful construction. taste was pretty powerful and peaked midway, but i was also disappointed that the peak did not last more than 10 minutes. i also found a hard time noticing much complexity, but all in all enjoyable since i paid less than 20 bucks.

"amazing little smoke"
Classic Opus color to the wrapper, but it's lumpy and rough. Perfect draw. Loads of pepper right off the bat. Heavy nose tingle. Quickly develops a complexity far beyond any other stick with a comparable ring guage. Caramel, leather, earth, the aformentioned pepper, and a slightly winey characteristic. Not being a wine drinker, I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Only knock is that it turns bitter a bit early (2"). As much as I'd like to be the contrarian and bash the Opus hype machine, I just can't. This is a mind-blowing powerhouse of a smoke that I'd pay for again in heartbeat.

"very nice"
Aged 2.6 years. Nice looking, full bodied smoke. Out of the gate and through the finish, this smoke was peppery and forward but never harsh. Flavor started pepper.cream.leather and wound up pepper.spice.caramel. Draw was perfect for my preference, but the burn was off at times. Other than the price tag, I enjoyed this very much.

"very good, and not so much"
this cigar perplexed me. it looked amazing. the build was excellent and it burned well all the way down. draw had just the right amount of firmness, with good volumes of smoke. the flavor was actually lacking for me. i've had a couple of opus' before, and i have seriously ejoyed them, but not this one so much. there was just a tiny bit of the signature pepper, some nuttiness, and some cream flavors. but like i said, not much of the flavor was there. it really dissapointed me because i was letting it sit in my humi for about 3 months prior to smoking. still recommended, because i'm guessing i recieved a dud...i hope to get my hands on another.

"Introductory smoke to the Opus line"
Long and thin with a nicely done tip, this pencil-shaped cigar is a bit of an anomaly but I think looks pretty good. The draw is perfect, lush and easy, and produces lots of smoke. The burn is excellent for the first half of the smoke, but needs some retouching in the second. Ash is somewhat flaky. After an initial burst of red hot pepper, it gradually transforms into some cream and coffee flavors that are quite smooth. It still retains some underlying power, but it's not nearly as strong as, say, the PerfecXion No.5 which has a nearly identical ring size. An hour long smoke with a rather short finish and not much of a buzz afterwards. For anyone who hasn't had an Opus yet, I would recommend this one as the first to try; it gives you an idea of the flavor but with moderate intensity.

"Don't let the size fool you"
Historically I've shyed away from this size as it never appealed to me - this said, I recently had an opportunity to pick up a box as MSRP and could not resist. Wow, what have I been missing. Cigar Aficionado recently rated the No. 5 as #10 on their top 25 cigars of the year. The reviewers comments hold true to this size as well; the rosada wrapper really comes through during the smoke of this cigar. The burn is even, the ash long to hold on to the tip of the cigar, and the cigar's construction, like every properly maintained Opus X I've smoked and own (well over 200 now) are superb. This is a must smoke and at $9 to $11 a piece is reasonably priced for a special occasion cigar.

I love this little smoke. The Don Carlos 4 is a great cigar. Add the spice and slight additional kick of the Opus and you get a monumental cigar.

"Power Packed"
This one had been in the humidor for about 1 1/2 years. Still very strong, yet smooth. Perfect draw with lots of smoke for a smaller cigar. Had to re-light twice. Flavor still not anything special even after a year of aging. Expensive.

"great panetella"
I'm glad to see others enjoy these, too. Good panatellas and lonsdales are hard to find, but here's one. Oily, nutty, and strong, they really don't mellow much over time, which is good!

"A warning ...."
A warning would have been nice. This cigar nearly blew my head off. With over a year in the humidor, I thought this thing might have been a bit more mellow. Whatever the blend, this thing is pure spice and all strength. The rosado wrapper was a little bit blothy, but the cap was very nice. It lit easily and burned evenly.
