"Stress Mgmt 101"
The Opus X Churchill and a glass of Booker's bourbon is the best stress management strategy that I know of.

This cigar is very strong, and not for everyone. There is no way it justifies it's price.

""Heaven""
One word "heaven". Better than some Cubans I've smoked. To me this is one of the ultimate smoking experiences. Being from North Carolina and working in the tobacco industry, I can tell you it's hard to make the sweet leaf taste much better. A definate "1

Dog Rocket!!! Another O-verrated, O-verpriced O-pus X. One flavor of spice nothing else. Fuentes are beat up badly by Padron's entire line!!!

"Classicly over-rated and over-hyped"
If you like paying way too much for a pepper stick, this is your gar! All yours. Can I interest you in a case of Ultra-Oak California Chardonnay with it?

"flamboyantly overrated"
I guess Fuente's marketing guys know their stuff. You price something skyhigh and restrict availability, and everyone will try their best to like it when they get one. These are good cigars, but they are not great, and not worth the outrageous prices you have to pay. I've even had a couple that shelved and were a disappointing draw. The flavor is spicy and full, actually a pleasure to smoke. If you're trying to impress someone that knows only the marketing hype, this is it.

"opus x , when you smoke it, smoke it slow"
this cigar was given to me, so my review has no bias. take your time and smoke it slow. great leather undertones mixed with spice. all through out this smoke. it finished with strong pepper and leather.i was like wow this is kicking my ass. the pepper went away into a deep leather. yes just what i was hoping for. great smoke. remember smoke it slow.

"Smooth Gar!!!"
I was totally surprised to find this double corona in a “mom & pop” store in the east-side of Seattle. Not too surprise that they were going for $55 a stick though. I bought two the first time then, four of them the next. I got a lot of cinnamon flavor from this Opus and plus it make a perfect movie cigar. Pretty much one dimensional lacking a lot of complexities that I get from the other Opus X’s that I’ve smoked. The punch that I used provided a perfect draw with tons of smoke. Overall, this is one GOOD smoke, but it does fail in comparison to others that ARE like it.

"Huge dissapointment"
I was really looking forward to this cigar; I smoked it in celebration of the birth of my daughter. The daughter turned out perfect, but the cigar was a joke. I think most of the people who write fabulous reviews of this cigar do so because of the name and the price. I love Fuente --- their Spanish Londsdales are wonderful --- but this stick was toxic waste. Very powerful to be sure, but I could smoke the desk that my computer is sitting on and I'm sure that it would be a powerful smoke, too. Doesn't mean it would be good, and neither is this cigar. No balance, harsh, indistinctive flavor - - I could go on, but you get the point.

"worth every dime"
Though I'll admit to gasping when I see what people arew willing to pay for all things Fuente, the Opus DC truly is one of the world's great smokes... at any price. Incomparably complex and balanced. This one, with 3.5 years of nap time, remained smooth despite its trademark spicy strength. Hints of cola creep in halfway, turning to caramel for the final third. And a perfect pairing with the divisional playoffs!

"Simply the Best!"
O where are thou Double Corona? I haven't seen you in years and wonder if I'll ever see you again! Simply the best cigar I ever smoked with my pops all 10 times! Awesome from the beginning to the end and the sweet spot lasts for and hour. Very tasty with hints of cedar coffee.

"Great cigar if you can find it"
Due to the hype (justified or not) and manipulation by the Fuente people, these things are hard to find and harder to find at a decent price. They also require a time commitment to smoke with full meal beforehand; post-Thanksgiving dinner is a good occasion. This beautiful looking cigar has a mostly even burn and a smooth and easy draw that produces thick clouds of aromatic smoke. Red peppery spice at the start is joined by strong black coffee, earthy, and black cherry flavors with a long and spicy finish. Smooth and elegant, it's not as overpowering as the smaller sizes, but a buzz does gradually develop since it's a big cigar that'll take at least 90 minutes to smoke. A great cigar which could stand on its own without all the fanfare. No. 1 in Cigar Aficionado's top 25 cigars of 2005.

"man oh man"
what a cigar, I haven't had a cigar like this in a while and I mostly smoke top end smokes, the flavors, burn and construction are all top notch and if I had to complain about anything it would only be the price and that the cigar eventually ends, everyone should at least try one of these, I can see how C.A. rated it a 95 in the cigars of the year.

"Amazing"
Cigar tastes vary. Period. I like this - you like that; similar to food tastes I suppose. Yet, given the five available categories, any Opus X must start with at least two 9s (appearance and construction). While I consider all Opus X to be a 10 in these categories (give the number of them I've smoked compared to other major cigars) - the least they could score would be a 9. Period.
They are all beautiful and their construction is second to none (not even a Padron). As for flavor, value and overall smoking experience - I agree that opinions will vary.
Flavor: smooth and full bodied. Complex flavors that changed throughout the smoke. Among my favorite Opus X.
Value: Good value for the quality.
Overall smoking experience: Among the finest. Period.
I just can't see rating any Opus below an 8 on average (maybe a 7? if you really didn't like the flavor at all). This is just NOT an average cigar.

"Nothing special..."
I had purchased a few of these about 8 months ago, I smoked a couple with a friend when I originally got them and was not impressed. So I decided to drop the others into the humidor and give them some time. Well time has passed and here we are again with the same results. Its well built, good smoke, but lackluster flavor. Its almost to say extremely boring, no changes from the beginning to the end. Some may like these, but not for me.

"Niccccce Smoke!!"
I purchased 10 Double Coronas and Five Perfection A, prior to moving form SC to TX. This cigar was strongly recommended by a riend. After nearly a year in my humidor, I figured I'd give one a try. On my budget, the stick was meant to be an occassional treat, I ended up smoking one a week for a month straight. (I normally light up one to two sticks a month.) I thoroughly enjoyed the transition of flavor, the waft and aroma of the smoke as well as the the way it complimented my favorite drink (Crown Special Reserve). The smokes were consistent in both construction and flavor. I personally think these are very good smokes. Nothing ever lives up to the marketing hype, but these smokes come close enough to satisfy my taste.

"a powerhouse smoke"
I love these cigars but I can't find the patience to let them age. The pre-light flavor is typical Opus X, strong berry and fruit taste. Once lit, this cigar's profile changes completely. It becomes spicy with with a dark chocolate overtone. A couple words of advice: let them age, don't smoke it on an empty stomach and don't smoke anything else before you smoke this stick. Definitely a special occasion cigar.

A spicy smoke with a good burn and draw all the way thru, some good complex flavors that change during the experience, very unique double corona. A bit pricey indeed, but worth the occasional top dollar!!!

"Wow what a waste"
Much rather smoke a La aurora Cien anos or an Avo Signature or perhaps even a Graycliff espresso. For the money this cigar blows, should be a 4 dollar cigar, then it might be ok.

"Now, THIS is a cigar!"
When I read some of the reviews that give Opus X Cigars scores like 4, 3, or 5, I have to wonder if you guys are smoking the same cigars I've been smoking for three years! The Double Coe is, to me, the star of the line. They are all stellar to me, without regard to origin or hype.. This smoke has a wrapper that is so oily, I actually saw a small amount surface to the top of it every so often, like a little slick...very full-flavored, plus you ALWAYS know how the construction is going to be, in every single one. Very complex tobacco flavors that have incredible depth, plus black cherry and wood notes, otherwise a spice bomb with total class. I think this is a world class cigar, I know, too $$$, but what a treat!

"Great cigar but a lot of hype"
A very very strong cigar. This cigar has a lot of hype as being the best cigar out there. I think from a strong cigar standpoint its very close.
The flavor is supper smooth with a touch of salt. The salt really surprised me. The nicotine is very very strong and will make alot of people sick, either a belly ache or even vomit.
I have 10 of them sitting in my humidor. I like them as a special cigar, to be enjoyed in a place were I can pay attention to the smoke.
I would not recommend smoking Opus X in the club.

"Believe the hype.... Opus #1."
I got ahold of 2 of these again. They are being patiently saved for the right occation. I have smoke a couple before. They are STRONG and I love a strong cigar. It has wonderful licorice, and cedar notes. The hype has always been well received for me. Really you cannot get a better cigar even the Cubans I smoked don't compare. I get a regular supply of Monte #2 but nothing compares to the Opus X.

"garbage"
This cigar and the others in the opus X line are so overrated! I'm telling right now these overpriced sh*t sticks are nothing compared to a fine, top shelf cuban.....not even close. I can't believe how people are fooled into believing this propaganda. Trust me, if you can get your hands on some monticristo #2's or ramon allones robustos you'll know immediatley what I'm talking about! The difference is staggering unless you have the bad luck of getting fakes which are probably dominican to begin with

"Dare I say it?"
I had always condemned the Opus line to being a good cigar with great marketing hype. Maybe I was wrong, or at least this Double Corona indicated as much. This was a great cigar. Granted it was 2 years old, which I think helped. The DC behaved perfectly, carried a perfect ash, and left me wanting more flavorwise.

I don't know if Opus is getting better or my tastes are changing, but lately each one I've had I have loved -- it didn't used to be this way. The double corona is my new favorite Opus -- a very rich, powerful, perfect burning 2 hours of pleasure.

"Don't judge by the cover"
Beautiful looking dark rosado wrapper. But that's the only good thing about this cigar.
Strong, spicy, gets bitter by the end of the smoke and has lots of kick in it and gives you buzz. But that's not what I value cigars for.
