A fine maduro. I wish the local smoke shop here in NYC wouldn't jack the prices so high, but hey, that's NY for you...

"Very pleasing"
This cigar made me a believer in bundles! I was given a bundle of 50 from a friend and thought, 'who needs a bundle of double maduros?'.. I DO!. I love the pull, the smooth feel in my mouth. Its a great cigar and just the right length for a session of hitting golf balls or driving home to my baby. The only negatives are occasional wrapper fraying and/or uneven burn.

"Great cigar"
This is a powerhouse. Excellent cigar with an indescribable taste but strong and earthy. Only negative is it has a tendency to burn unevenly. Great value for a stick you can easily get for just over $2.00.

"a good straight forward cigar"
This is a good straight forward cigar that pulls no punches, it give you a nice maduro flavor but doesn't really have a whole lot of complex flavors to it. Don't expect a Tatuaje or a Gran Habano type smoke but for the price you could do a whole lot worse.

"A great cigar !!!"
This is by far my favorite cigar. I love its solid tight construction, its smoke aroma, and its taste!! A few years ago the only double maduro was almost Punch, now many are producing it, but punch is still the master!! It starts off very earthy and spicy then a hint of espresso and a berry flavor at the end. the ash will stay on as long as you want and many times i have smoked this with out loosing the solid white ash. It always burns even. This cigar will always get some who really love it or really hate it, I think anyone who loves a full body cigar would love this smoke!

"Punch me one more time please"
Punch Maduro, or nat punch one of my all time fav cigars. They are for the more seasoned smokers. Even though the more seasoned smoker wouldn't call them a strong cigar. Another Punch please!

Not all punch are created equal. I do not like the corojo(bland). That's just me...

"3 Great Cigars"
I'm going to review a 3 way of these Punch rothschild oscuros, Consuegra rothschild maduro, and Super Premium 2nds maduro. All produced by the Villazon factory in Honduras, the Consuegras and the Super 2nds both have reviews of being just as good as the top Punch but in my opinion they rate more like Punch 1st, Consuegra 2nd, and Super 2nds 3rd. All are fantastic but the Punch is superior having a nice oily wrapper and full flavor of chocolate and nut and a heavy creamy smoke and a great aroma with top notch construction. The Consuegra is a very close 2nd to this, the burn looks exactly like the Punch but has a bit less in the flavor department but for half the price I'm sold. JR says they are the Holy Grail, true. The Super 2nds are also a good value but falling in 3rd for flavor, burn and contruction. These cigars are not for the light smoker with a weak taste, they are very full flavored, full bodied and somewhat harsh. I think all 3 are great and it's sometimes hard to decide which one to grab. So if you think cigars like this taste like dirt, as I have read on other reviews, then maybe you should be smoking a menthol cigarette.

"thumbs down for me here"
Grabbed a fiver on cbid (called Rothschild Oscuro) and was expecting a tasty treat, similar to the reviews I have read here. Unfortunately they did not deliver. I have smoked 4, and one was plugged so bad I had to put it out of its misery after less than 1/3 smoked. As for the others, about all I can say is they looked good - dark rugged wrapper with a faint leathery-spice pre-light aroma. After this my experience goes downhill. I found them all to be wrapped very tightly with poor draw. I also found them to be overly spicy and harsh without the expected rich flavor. Surprising as I like full bodied cigars and Punch cigars in general. Maybe I got a bad lot - I'll hold out hope that some time in the humi helps the last one...

"power"
This stick has real depth and power to go with it. The wrapper was full of oil and dark as night. The pre lit draw gave hints of lots of spice and wood. The foot lit even and burned even all the way to the nub. The taste was on the full body side with lots of wood and a power finish of spice, a robust smoke all around.

"The best of the 3 Punch Rothschilds"
Although a bit rumpled in appearance, this is a solid, dark, and oily stick. It smokes well with a good draw and a consistent, mostly even burn; the white ash produced is in stunning contrast to the dark wrapper. Medium to full in body, it's earthy and spicy with pepper and dark cherry flavors that lead onto the finish. Gets tarry only at the very, very end. It's a slow burner, so set aside extra time (almost an hour) to enjoy this quality smoke that also happens to be a great value.

"Consistant Punch"
I don't think it's ugly, I liked Tootsie Rolls as a kid and I like this too. Not a great smoke but a consistant one. Good flavor all the way through (got down to burning my fingers), but never got a great flavor either. Overall a good smoke and a great value for the $$. Didn't burn even but never got too uneven. Like I said consistant.

"Average to Plain Good Cigar"
Now this little guy packs a Punch (no pun intended!) Yes, ugly and very stiff, but well constructed and good, even burn. Lots of pepper and leather, but mostly pepper. Starts pepper, turns leather (nice, strong turn) then goes back to pepper. The bad news is that you really have to be in the mood for one of these powerhouse robustos, because they are strong. Good news is the consistent pepper/spice flavor throughout makes the finish rather milder than most. I gave it a 6-7, because frankly, I'm not a spicey kind of guy, but I would have given it an 8-9 easily if I liked spice. If you are a full bodied, strong, real-man's cigar smoker, you will like this one, because it ain't made for sissies like me! At $3-4, you can't go wrong to at least try one.

"Double Maduro Heaven"
This stubby stogie is a powerhouse of flavor. If you’re looking for spice, and pepper, shop elsewhere, but if elegance and flavor are what you’re after, this is an excellent smoke. It’s not going to knock your socks off, but it just might warm your heart. If you’re looking for a pick-me-up at the end of a hectic day, this is the stick of choice. By the end of the cigar, you’re bills, boss, and worries have all flitted into the background along with the wisps of smoke.

"UGLY"
I will start by saying this is one of the ugliest cigars I have ever seen. It is a stubby, burnt looking veiny little thing. Now that's out of the way, The punch double maduro rothchilde is a very pleasant, mild perfectly behaved hour long smoke for about three dollars. I always feel clever finding a bargain and this cigar delivers. Recommended.

"Good but not better than ..."
This cigar is a good cheap cigar, but I do not understand how this cigar can get rated above a Montecristo No. 2(Cuba) or a Cuaba Salomones. If a Montecristo No. 2 (Cuba) is an 8.8 than this is closer to a six. Good smoke, but burns a little hot, a tinge of metallic flavour, and ends up being a tad harsh.

"consistently great"
I get these also for 3.45 each in singles, and have yet to have a bad one. For the price one of the best medium-bodied smokes, and I haven't found a better one in this format yet. Most of them have a slight sharpness at light, but all immediately turn earthy, sweetish and smooth. The flavor slowly turns toasty, slightly spicy and grassy, with cedary overtones and a smooth burn to the fingertips. The Punch MM Rothschild is easily the best medium-bodied smoke I have tried.

"A classic in terms of value"
I consistently buy this cigar for around $2.00. Year after year, I still think it's the best value around. Amazingly consistent, I'll smoke through a box of 50 without one stinker. I do not think the double-maduro is a novelty, but instead, it is a legitimate concept. Others have tried the double maduro, but punch and hoyo are still the best.
