"A somewhat boring maddie"
I purchased a box of these 9 months ago. At the time they were tannic IMHO so I decided to sit on them for a while. I have recently started smoking them and, unfortunately, they are very monotone in flavor. Yes, they are very smooth with no tannins now, but they are the same in the beginning as they are near the nub. I like complexity in my sm,okes and this one just doesn't seem to have it. There are many other maddies that are just as good and better at half the price. If you want a straight maduro without spice, pepper, and hardly any sweetness then this could be for you.

"Monotone flavor - an average cigar"
Everyone is on to the "hot" cigars. San Cristobal is the cigar du jour and it's a good product but it isn't all it's cracked up to be. Flavor is medium, maduro sweetness abounds and the cigar does not get harsh even at the nub. However, this description fits many cigars at half the price.

"Pepin Does it Again!"
Beautiful dark beast! Very tight draw...had to be clipped a second time. Great slow smoke with a complex medium body. With aging should become an exceptional smoke. Highly recommended.

"Tasty tasty smoke"
Smoked one of these at the local cigar lounge and was very glad that I did. Beautiful construction with the triple cap and smooth vein less wrapper. Opens up with a sinus scorching dose of pepper and spice that transitions nicely into sweet coffee and chocolate flavors. Mine began to smoke hot and got a little tarry with about an inch to go though. Aside from that a great cigar that will become a regular in my humi.

"UMMM UMMM good"
I really enjoyed this cigar. It's a beauty to look at with a old Cuban style band and a beautiful wrapper leaf. Smooth and oily with very small vains. The construction was perfect with a very nice draw, not to easy and not to firm. No soft spots either. Starts out with a blast of peppery spice that mellows soon after. The flavors turn to cream with chocolate and coffee and a touch of wood. It's a winner in my book. Recommened.

"maduro, hmmm"
I expected more from this cigar from reading the reviews on it and it being rolled by DPG, it's a maduro but in my opinion save your money and buy the CAO Brazilia or the 5 Vegas A series, better prices and they hold their own against this cigar.

"Another great DPG"
Bought this at a B&M with some friends a couple of days ago. Construction was beautiful, with a thick, dark wrapper. Black pepper notes at first, transitioning to coffee and chocolate after the first inch or so. Full bodied. A really good cigar, I think it would have been even better with some humidor time. I'll be trying more of these.

"Not fabulous"
Another great looking San Cristobal. Good taste, but tight draw throughout and a few burn problems leave this with a lot to be desired.

"if DPG worship bores you, skip this review"
Starts with a heavy dose of damp leather, then branches out quickly into the espresso and chocolate mentioned by others, and some hardwood. Tremendously complex. While this may well be better later, it shows excellent balance right now. If I had to compare it to anything, I'd say it's somewhere between the Oliva V and the new Cohiba Maduro. In ways, the San Cristobal trumps both -- it beats the Cohiba on price (!) and tops the Oliva V on flavor. Pepin worship has become horribly cliche, but it's justified anew. I had the El Centurion for the first time last night, and this San Cristobal today. DPG just keeps topping himself, showing new versatility with each release.

"the perfect size and time..."
Im not sure ive ever tasted black cherry in such intensity! i have tried all but the robusto thus far and this size was it! Perhaps it is because these had an extra 2 months to rest from the others, but i found this cigar to offer complex and confusing favors! From chocolate and cream to a sweet citrus. Very unique.

Deffinitly a Pepin, i promise these will age with grace and in 2 years we ae looking at a masterpeice! Right now some samples are flustered and a bit rustuc but when there on, like my belicoso was, they are truley a chocolatley, cherry dream

"Excellent... will age well"
Had to try them. Ashton and Pepin Garcia! This cigar has the fantastic construction of most all of Pepin's cigars. Starts out creamy yet spicy and moves towards more coffee earthy flavors. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the strength of these but was floored with the flavor. Keep a bunch of these for 2-3 years and they will be excellent.

"Young but good"
This torpedo started with a tight draw until I made an extra cut to open it up further after about an inch. It has good aroma, creaminess, and a bit of sweetness. The construction is top notch with a beautiful dark wrapper and firm build. The only bad thing is there are not much smoke despite a good burn. This should be a dandy in a few months.

"Rich and Powerful"
This is a gorgeous cigar and a top flight performance from the Don. But if full bodied cigars aren't your thing, be prepared. This one will knock you on your keister if you're not careful. But there's more here than just power -- rich dark chocolate and coffee flavors capped off by a sweet caramel aroma from the wrapper. The blend is still a little bit sharp -- definitely smokable now, but when it settles this is going to be a classic.

"Too young, needs time"
I was really excited to try this cigar due to all the hype, and my love of Pepin blends. It had a beautiful dark wrap and a nice firm ash, but it needed multiple burn corrections. Great espresso and cocoa flavors, but the strength was overpowering. I'll revisit the San Cristobals in about 1 year. I think they will be great then.
