It took me a while to run across this cigar some two years ago, and it aged that long in my humidor until I restocked it w/ 44 varied Cubans. Don't know if the aging helped but this smoke delivered one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in "98". T

Solid construction, decent looking wrapper. Perfect
draw with lots of smoke. Cool, even burn to the end.
It had a rich complex flavor that left my tongue numb.

A great big disappointment along with its longer brother!!! Highly overrated. Very poor construction. Most are overfilled and unsmokable. Aroma and taste mediocre. Their cuban fathers are far superior!

JR Robusto sampler. Tried it, not my preference. A bit light in flavor, very mild toast, not much for flavor. If you like a real light smoke, you might like this one.

"Bitter Bite!!!"
I got this as a gift. I love Robusto's and this one looked very nice. I let it age in the Humi for about five months and just grabbed it to try while walking my Jack Russell after dinner. It lit well and had a nice draw but that's where it ended. It started out harsh and bitter. I smoked it half way down for about 30 minutes hoping beyond hope that it would turn around - but it never did. I ended up tossing it down the sewer on the way back from the park several blocks away. I was very disappointed with this one and probably won't try one agian. I'll stick with my El Rey Del Mundo's and CAO Brazilia Robusto's - Sooooo much flavor and complexity! - MediaMaxx.

"The taste of wood"
This was a nice smoke with a smooth wrapper and some oil to it. The cap was very nice and cut with no loose ends. The foot lit even and had lots of smoke with a good aroma. The taste was medium to mild with notes of wood and some pepper on the finish just a nice smoke all around.

"Didn't quite cover the point spread"
This one sat in the humidor for about 3 months. I had been eying it for weeks and when I lit it (in the sports book in Wendover watching the point spread dwindle) I gotta say I was a little disappointed. Was expecting more, I guess. Lit well burned well smelled great, it just had an average taste. Maybe I need to try some stronger ones. Hm.

"Tasty treat"
A great mild yet very flavourful cigar. Very well made with a beautiful wrapper. It burned superbly and the draw was perfect. Was enjoyed on New Years with random people who don't even smoke cigars. It was passed around like a joint and everyone liked it. Better than a Mac. It was free with a subscription to Cigar-Magazine (www.cigar-magazine.com).

"very nice mild to medium smoke"
This is a one cigar review, got from a sampler. Lovely looking with nice pre-light scent. Cap was just about perfect and pre-light draw had a sort of nuts and tobacco flavor. Once lit, the smoke was a bit thin likely from too tight roll and draw was a bit difficult. Flavor of smoke was almost creamy with little to no aftertaste. I prefer full-bodied smokes but this one was fun to smoke. Strangely, about half-way done, the wrapper split about 1.5 inches long above the burn. Weird since this was in humidor for about a month before use. This resulted in a downgrade for both construction and overall experience which otherwise were quite good. Smoked almost to nub where it got a bit harsh, but this was with maybe about an inch left. I will buy more of these, if I find a good sale.

Very smooth after aging for over a year. However, disappointed because the favors remain the same. I was hoping for a little more complexities in the favor. Overall, nice cigar if you don't mind not having any punch to it. Tonight I will have a #1 and input my feedback on it.

"Nice and mellow"
One of the best mild cigars on the market. Smooth, but with an easy going spice, not peppery-- more like cinnamon or a light anise-- a nice whiffer. Construction is good, though the ash on this one was a little flaky. Smoke this one slowly and don't be greedy. The price is a little steep, but this is a special occasion cigar. This evening's occasion was 85 degrees and no wind on the patio.

"Disappointed"
Construction fell apart as the cigar was finishing. Taste was very unpleasant, unlike R&J's reputation, too strong and ugly. The burn was very odd, the center of the ash ring was lite brown, while the rest was white/gray, this is unusual. The overall quality was very bad. I'll stick to Romeo y Julieta 1875 from now on, especially Rothschilde en Tubo, my favorite!!!

"Very nice"
The wrapper is high grade CTS. The roll is very solid. Prelight has a clean, crisp quality. The burn & draw is perfect. A bit papery at 1st with a bitterness in the finish, but that fades about 1/2 inch in. Maybe I oxidized the wrapper a bit when I lit it. Light & mild, with a mellow bakery spice tone in the sinus. There are some toasty flavors on the palate. The last 1/3 picks up a bit of strength & almost achieves medium body. Very nice.

"Very Nice Smoke"
I had this one a couple of nights ago and it was fantastic. RyJ is great for consistancy. The construction was great. I smoked it almost to the band before the ash fell off. While the roll was tight, the draw was relatively easy. The flavor was pretty even throughout; a bit creamy with a bit of spice. The spice wasn't peppery, more like cinnamon, clove, and pumpkin.

The ratings on this cigar seem to be all over the map. Proof that this is a highly personal and subjective hobby! Although this is a decent smoke I am rather disappointed overall. The construction is inconsistant. I've had two unwrap half way through. The draw is to tight. The flavor starts out very nice then complexity fades.

"Vintage it is!!"
It is a very silky cigar, with few visible veins on the wrapper. The construction of the cigar is pretty solid, and it feels just right when it is rolled between the fingers. The cut was easy, and the pre-light draw is almost perfect (not too firm, and not too lose). The smell of the cigar has a little bit of sourness to it. The cap construction is good, and it was easy to light. I have a problem with lighting the cigar, which is when the flame is held about an inch away from the foot, the wrapper caught the fire, and turned to charcoal black immediately. The draw is extremely smooth, and it has a spicy, along with a woody taste to it. The cigar finishes quite dry, perhaps too dry for my taste. The aroma of the smoke is very pleasant, but the nicotine is a bit too high. The burning of the cigar catches my eyes -- The cigars I smoke usually produce a yellowish-orange type of burn when I draw the cigars, but this one produces a dark-red type of burn. The burn is a little bit uneven, and the burning rate is slow. The color of the ash is darker than I thought it would be, it turns out to be a dark gray/grayish-black on the outside, but it is white-gray on the inside. Ash is really firm, but flaky on the outer rim. The taste is consistent throughout the cigar, until about half of it, and it doesn¡¦t burn hot. This medium-bodied cigar tastes very nice, and the smoke volume is HUGE and creamy. It is a very nice experience smoking a vintage cigar (considering this is my first one). When the cigar reaches a half of it, it has a slight peppery taste adding to the complex flavor that I¡¦ve mentioned. A sudden change of taste is a unique experience. About three quarters of the cigar, the spicy taste is gone, and replaced completely with the peppery taste.

"80 minutes of smooth"
This great smelling robusto did me right. Rolled a little tight, but nothing my humidor couldn't cure in a few weeks. I actually enjoy a stronger smoke than this, but for the vintage I will always make an exception. It looks great, burns perfectly and delivers volumes of light creamy cocoa smoke. I smoke em' to the nub and the draw is still cool. This smoke always recharges my tastebuds and makes me crave the "stronger smokes", it centers me. The only drawback is the price, and I understand you do get what you pay for, so I have to make them last for a year. I will always have them in reserve for the times I need 80 minutes of smooth!

"ARGH!!!"
This batch is very earthy and spicy, overbearingly so. It tasted a little young... is that possible on a vintage??? It was so spicy, it made my lips feel numb in a way that I did not enjoy; and I did not chain smoke these babies. The smoke was smooth with nice dark grey ashes and pleasant aroma. Too bad the taste ruined it for me. Leaves a pleasant earthy after taste.
