The name in Spanish means "King of the World", and this cigar made us believers. We need to admit that the samples were purchased over two years ago, and stored until now. Nonetheless, this was one of the most satisfying, and agreed upon cigars we have ever reviewed. The El Rey del Mundo Robusto comes encased in white tissue paper with the traditional gold and yellow El Rey del Mundo band on the outside of the paper. Beautiful presentation, looking like it was already wrapped as our Christmas presents! The big ring gauge was imposing to some of our samplers, but also preferred by many. (me included). The picture you see is an actual photo of one of the two cigars I sampled. We were floored by the perfect gray/white ash and even burn. As you can tell the wrapper is one of the richest and oiliest of all cigars we sampled. Unlike the Ashton Virgin Sun Grown we reviewed this month, this is not a strong cigar. Now that's not to say it's not mild, but not as strong as the Ashton. Probably due to our ageing, there was no aftertaste, and unbelievable consistency of flavor. It's rare when a cigar finished with the same taste it began with, but that was the case here. Try this cigar, you'll enjoy it, and it will age well. Couple the quality with the price, and this cigar can't lose. As a matter of fact we even enjoyed it while one of our reviewers changed channels from football to a Roseanne rerun. If you find joy in anything while listening to her cackle...it's got to be good. FYI...he no longer gets to EVER hold the remote. Vital Statistics: Shape = Robusto Length = 5" RG = 54 Wrapper = Ecuador Filler =Dominican Republic, Honduras Binder = Honduras Estimated Cost = $ 5.00
