Without a doubt we are looking at Marlin Perkins favorite cigar, Wild Kingdom has crept into the cigar world. The Felipe Dominicana Boa is aptly named as the center bulges like a boa with a recently captured meal. It sure gets "unique" as a label, but is this a gimmick or a cigar? We mentioned unique. A short cigar with a light colored wrapper, there are a few veins and bumps to navigate. The story in the appearance area is the shape. You are tempted to give it a try, just to see how the "hump" smokes. I suppose you could call this the "hunchback" of cigars? Our reviewers were mixed on the construction of the "Boa". One of our reviewers had a perfect draw with an ash that hung on for the length of the cigar. Nobody noted any major issues, but were also not experiencing anything that would make you stand up and make travel arrangements to Reptile Gardens. It is worth mentioning that with such a funky shape, you would expect some draw issues, but none were noted. We would have to give this a forked tongue up on the construction side. The slithering Boa did not live up to expectations on the taste side. Even with the better than average construction, nobody commented positively on the flavor imparted by this reptile. The flavor was mild, with "dry and woody" being mentioned. One of our better reviewer comments described the character as "Very close to a "Why me? taste" Ouch….somebody even felt "forced to complete the smoke", must have been afraid of snakes! Overall, the Boa did not live up to it's jungle heritage. Nothing to fear here, in fact nothing to make you check it out at the zoo either. With good construction and dry and chalky flavors, this snake falls into the "gimmick" category. As with your average wild Boa, this one is better left alone.
