As they sit in a circle around a raging fire, they can look out at the Caribbean Sea, watching the waves break on the shore from their perch on a desolate tropical island. Hey, what did you want? The Graycliff Pirate originates in the Bahamas...okay, not the Caribbean Sea, but the Atlantic Ocean just didn't fit right in the above picture. What's they story with the Graycliff...check out Graycliff.com and you can see the resort that spawned the cigar, but not much more info...they still indicate that they are coming out with a "secret smoke". Well, here it is. Don't let it remain secret, it's good. How's that for succinct. All reviewers liked the Graycliff Pirate, although with differing positive support. Comments ranged from "I could make love to this smoke" (scared us!) too "I had trouble pinning down the personality of the Graycliff". The construction is good, not overwhelmingly special, but better than average. The roll is consistent, and burns a bit quicker than expected. Upon lighting the cigar you'll experience a ash that is whiter and finer than your probably used to. The aesthetics of smoking the Graycliff Pirate are pleasing, especially if your wearing the before mentioned Pirate suit. Taste is what we'll call middle of the road. Middle of the road as it pertains to strength that is. The Graycliff can not be described as strong, and would lean towards the lighter side if it weren't for a unique flavor that is hard to adequately describe. Don't think this is unique in the vein of a Lars Tetens, think unique in a pure tobacco form, not a spicy take over my humidor form. We bought a box of these, and have enjoyed continually smoking them. Usually once we smoke a cigar for a review, we move on. With the Graycliff we found ourselves going back because of the clean taste. It is a cigar you can smoke any time of the day, and won't scare away the parrot on your shoulder. Tough to locate, but worth the search. You can always get them at the Graycliff Resort in the Bahamas...yeah right.
