(bad pun) Glad we got five people reviewing, or this would have been it. I confess, this is one of, if not "the" cigar I would ask for if only given one. The Hoyo DC's I've had have been magnificent. So when we decided March was going to be the month we got the first A+, I knew a trip to Canada was in order. I was obviously biased, but I kept my thoughts to myself, sure that the rest of the reviewers would verify my opinions. It didn't necessarily go that way. Glad they were a tad more objective than myself. We'll, were all allowed some faults. An "A" is pretty darn good, but I have a hard time seeing this cigar in the same category as the Montecristo Double Corona from the Dominican Republic. No slight on the Monte, but come on, this is the Cuban Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona for Castro's sake. Oh yeah, the review. Wrapper was gorgeous, everyone thinking it was "the bomb". A couple folk noted it was on the light side, and compared to the past, this was a bit light. Okay, maybe not A+ caliber, but I insist they were in the past! The Ash was only OK, I worry about the construction. Nobody's ash hung on for long, not a sin, but when combined with a few re-lights, it had some guys wondering why I was bragging this cigar up so. Please don't tell me the Cubans quality actually has fallen like I'm hearing. So now your wondering how this thing was even in the "A" category? Taste baby, that's what it's all about anyway. Throw away almost all the other rating criteria, if they keep you coming back for more, your hooked worse than a 14 year-old boy on Monday Night Nitro. FedEx the taste, these things delivered instantly. Smooth and familiar throughout the whole cigar, they never wavered. Not your "hazy smoke, where the heck am I" strong Cuban, but a smooth, personality packed two hours of lip smackin' fun. I could just stare at this review, wishing I was back in the land that delivered us these smokes. As they say in Canada..."Give 'em a try, eh?"
