Here is a good looking cigar with a twist on the recent trend towards figurados, or shaped cigars. As the name indicates the “Torbusto” is seemingly a combination of a robusto and a torpedo. Okay, it sort of works, definitely unique, and pretty attractive. The Habana 2000 wrapper has been proving to be a fine looking leaf. There is a second band identifying this cigar as being privileged enough to be encased with the new “uber” wrapper. As we indicated earlier, this is a visually eye-catching cigar. The wrapper is dark and well marked, looking as thought it would age well. The shape adds to the look, as you try and figure what this guy is trying to be. Unfortunately, the beautiful lines of this cigar may let you down upon lighting it. Not to say this is a bad tasting cigar, it just wasn’t what most of the reviewers we’re expecting. Most everyone noted a strong taste to this cigar, not overpowering, just strong and relentless. Most flavor reviews wavered on the negative side. On the other hand, those that generally preferred a stronger cigar, walked the line on the positive. You will experience a lingering strong aftertaste with the Torbusto, no one enjoyed the post-taste. The draw was fine, with no noticeable flaws, and the ash was adequate. We did have a couple of uneven burns, with the ash running hard up the side of a few of the samples. I hope that wasn’t due to humidification, as we had the box in our humidor for a couple of weeks prior to reviewing. In summary, the cigar is worth trying as it is fairly reasonably priced. (by today’s standards) Those of you that prefer a stronger tasting cigar will probably enjoy it more than those who are looking for a smooth relaxing smoke. We’re looking forward to trying other Habana 2000 wrapped cigars, thus seeing if it’s the wrapper that has imparted the strength to this cigar. Vital Statistics: Shape = Figurado Length = 5 1/2" RG = 60 Wrapper = Nicaragua Filler = Dominican Republic, Brazil, USA Binder = Honduras Estimated Cost = $9.00
