If one assumes that all cigars put out with a special "Anniversary" type designation are actually well... "special", that first line may be the kind of surprise this cigar will give you. The Indian Anniversary Limited Reserve Buffalo was a disappointment from the moment most of our reviewers started smoking. With an extremely weak construction and a dry papery flavor, your days of celebrating this "Anniversary" will be short. The cigar comes enclosed nicely in a cedar wrapped package. The wrapper is very lightly colored and looks oh so delicate. Once you start handling the cigar after lighting you'll quickly realize that it not only looks delicate, the wrapper actually is paper thin. Many of ours cracked in a couple places, bringing the need for the classic "lick the wrapper" method of holding your cigar together. One of our reviewers went as far as saying that "when smoking this cigar in the wind, pieces of wrapper started flying off!". I'd love to chalk that up to humidification, but this gentlemen had a cigar that had been stored over 6 weeks in 70% humidity, and was smoking it in Florida, where he noted the outside humidity was 80%. The actual burn of the cigar was fairly even, with a dirty gray looking ash. It didn't hang around the cigar long, although that was arguably the least of the reviewers concerns. Flavor varied little amongst the five folk who reviewed the Indian Anniversary Limited Reserve Buffalo. We had considerable note about an extremely displeasing taste upon lighting the cigar. This seemed to mellow as the cigar burnt, ultimately producing what was best described as a "non-descript, dry taste, trying its darndest to come up with something." On the positive side, nobody reported any sort of obnoxious aftertaste which we so often hear. So, if you can put a good note on flavor, you could say "it doesn't taste very good, but it has the decency to exit the room quickly!" We hope this cigar has no real connection to the Native American community, as it sure won't do anyone proud.
