Boy oh boy are all the Cuban cigar fanatics going to be mad at us. It wasn't enough we said some things that could be seen as negative about the consistency of the Monte No. 2, but now we come right out bombing the Punch Coronations. Before you starting sending the "your idiots" email (Ruby & Friends), just remember...everyone has opinions and they may not agree with yours. So there. It looked ugly coming out of its tube, kind of like the thing coming out of that ladys stomach in the Alien movies. Well, maybe not that bad, but "rustic" is a generous comment. Some of us have a built in bias against cigars that come in a tube...like they are hiding something. We know, many good cigars come in tubes as well....like...ahhh...forget it, there has to be some. We had to relight the Coronations 3 times in its short little 5 inch life. The latter couple times was a chore thinking you would have to keep smoking it. The flavor was strong and harsh. Not a nice strong, but an overpowering, "kill every taste bud" strong. If someone refers to this as "what Cuban cigars were like in their heydey" we're glad we weren't around then. On the plus side the ash was really white and with neat black blotches! There's not much to say based on the thoughts of our panel. This is a small cigar, and is one of the lighter priced Cubans, it may have an appeal to smokers somewhere, but not in the limited group of five that reviewed this for us. As Cubans go it's cheap, but we think you'd be better off buying something else.
