The latest from the Punch "Grand Cru" line is the "Punchito". The Punchito continues the figurado trend in cigars, and is shaped like a Hemingway Short Story wanna-be. Our reviewers voiced initial concern over such a small cigar, they seem to show up a bit shorter that Punch's posted 4 inches. In the end the reviews were mixed, with some of the "anti-small cigar" folks actually coming around to the Punchito, and some of the figurado stalwarts not thinking this cigar plays very well. Once you light this little guy up, the firm gray ash is going to surprise you. It hangs on for most of the cigar, which is expected in such a short smoke. The flavor surprised most, expecting something mild and bland, most responded with astonishment that this baby grand Cru actually had some flavor. Now, whether or not people liked the taste is another story, in fact the reviewers spit about 50/50. Tough to do when 5 people reviewed it! The Punchito is well made, with no obvious construction flaws, in fact there really was no serious complaint about any aspect of this cigar. Then again, nobody really got all that excited either. In fact, there's not a heck of a lot to write about this...if you want about a 30 minute smoke, that won't break the budget, and is from a reputable manufacture, it's worth a try. If you want to fall into a prozak like slump when writing a cigar review, this may be the medicine. This ain't the LA Clippers of cigars, but it is nowhere near Vince-sanity. Vital Statistics: Shape = Figurado Length = 4" RG =~50 Wrapper = Ecuador Filler = D.R., Hond., Nic. Binder = Ecuador, USA Estimated Cost = $ 5.00
