"Fuente Don Carlos double robusto"
Nice cigar, but a bit pricy. Pretty mild, which is good for a change once in a while.

"A damn good cigar"
Great looks and taste, a little milder than my usual cigar of late. Still most enjoyable, one that I didn't want to put out. A couple very minor touch ups and draw that improved throughout combined to present a cigar I'd buy more of.

"Almost"
For the most part, I agree with all of the positive reviews of this cigar, there is just one point that dissapointed me, the construction. Speciffically, the last two inches. It unravled and ended up looking like a novelty exploding cigar. This happened on both that I had over the last six months (all I could afford to buy). Different boxes from different B&Ms leads me to believe that this may be a typical characteristic. Otherwise, it is very good.

"so good, i'm discouraged"
I've heard alot about them and i finally tried one. Like most fuentes, it started out at its strongest point in its body and soon mellowed out into a nice medium cigar. The flavor is extradordinary. It is very earthy with little to no spice, but makes up for it in its creaminess, it has very suddle underlying sweet notes. great cigar i love them. There lies the prioblem. there very pricey and now i need to decide if i like them enough to spend 10 - 12 bucks a stick

"No hype...just a great smoke"
This subtly sweet and perfectly balanced cigar is a real treat. The draw is smooth and the Cameroon wrapper has more of a spark than others I've smoked. Unlike other cigars there's no waiting for that great taste. It starts and finishes like a champ. There's been so much hype with the Opus X that a lot of smokers have overlooked this top shelf beauty (me included). I cleared some space in the humi to make room for the Don Carlos. I highly recommend them.

"Aged up from great to DAMN!"
I just shared one of these with a buddy and we were completely blown away. I bought the box in July 2003 and they were great right away but had enough strength to age well so I did; trying a couple a year but I hadn't smoked one since last summer (06). Holee-FN-shit these have aged into something extrordinary! Still a medium to slightly full body but the depth and balance are unbelievable. Neither ash dropped until just past the mid-point on a razor sharp burn. One of the better looking DC wrappers giving off a wonderful aroma. Balanced, decadent, sublime.

"Worthy of the name"
This is a wonderful cigar, great draw and burn, loved the powerful(but not overwhelming spice)

"Awsome"
This is truly an awsome cigar. It is a very solid stick, with some heft to it and the construction is flawless. I smoked two of these this past weekend, with the same back to back experiences. The burn was nearly perfect, as was the draw, and these cigars offer up volumes of rich, deeply flavorfull smoke. There is an intense, underlying semi-sweet dark tea flavoring that is present from the moment you fire it up, until you nub it. That semi-sweet dark tea flavor profile is joined, on and off, by nuances of nuts, leather and a mellow woodiness, and occasionally a very rich earthy spiciness, especially in the final third. The after taste is hardy and seems to last forever. This is a full flavored cigar and reasonably full bodied as well. I'll be buying more of these in the very near future. A bit pricey but not too out of line.

"ONe of the best"
This is one fine cigar. From the construction to the flavor, top notch. I wish I could afford to smoke these a lot more than I can, as this is a great tasting cigar. I perfer the DC over the reg line and the Hemingway line. Haven't had a Opus yet so I can't compair them. This to me is a more complex and stronger smoke than the Hemingway's. I love the earthy almost sweet flavors in this smoke and that touch of spice on the finish is perfect for me. Just wish they were cheaper.

"Best non Cuban"
Over the past couple years I have smoked three boxes plus some singles. 25 years ago I started cigars with Fuente 8-5-8 when they were a dollar a stick. Then I found the Hemingway to be the best ever. Now I know Don Carlos is even better (I don't care for Opus X, too strong and one deminsional). Don Carlos is rounder in taste then a Hemingway and a cross between the Opus and Hemingway and is the best, consistant, non Cuban cigar I have smoked. Wish I could get them a bit cheaper.

"Love me two times"
This is my second review of the Double Robusto after aging 6 of my box for an additional 9 months or so...and they have become even more brilliant. This is such a decadent cigar, as the size just assures that you will be enjoying the next 1 1/2 hours immensely. The wrapper is dark, veiny and richly textured. The construction is superb. The flavor profile is deep, mysterious and complex. Spice on the finish and it lingers on your palate...but not too long. Burns beautifully and the taste was consistent down to the nub. They are truly world class and can hold their own against just about any top tier smoke. Well done, Fuente.

Best cigar in the US. Consistant and great. Near perfection for my taste but a bit too pricey for my pocketbook

"Rich, smooth and mellow"
A slightly oily wrapper covers this solid, well-made cigar. It has a slightly firm draw but considering how densely packed this stick is the draw is actually pretty good. Consistent burn too, with a nice cone of gray ash. This is a tasty cigar filled with mellow wood, dark tea, and an almost coconut-like sweetness. Not a spice bomb, it's a rich, smooth, and mellow smoke. It's not cheap, but it's one of the finest.

"Good cigar, a bit expensive"
Another winner from Fuente...I actually prefer the Hemingways, and at the price the B&M had on this stick ($10.99), I will be smoking a lot more Hemingways. Near perfect burn, a little tighter draw than most Fuentes but that could have been the humidification. Tasty earthy flavors, just a bit expensive.

"Don Carlos, the Godfather of tasty cigars"
We get so few opportunities to really experience greatness...and after buying a box of these, I can look forward to many evenings on the patio enjoying this bad ass stick. More flavorful and complex than a Hemingway (which I love, too)...this is a GREAT special occasion cigar. Not $20+ like the Padron 26s or the high end Davidoffs...but for $10, I get 1 1/2 hours of ectasy. Beautiful...

"VERY GOOD...BUT TEN BUCKS ??? ... C'MON !!!"
This is a great cigar. Excellent roll ... delicious to the nub. Toasty, nutty, smooth as a newborn's bottom. BUT ... it is the typical Fuente. Take a very nice Cameroon wrapped cigar, that most companies would sell for $3
or $5, maybe try to get $5.50 for them tops ... put a Fuente wrapper on it, put it in a Fuente box, and sell them for $10 - $12. I will say this, at a comparable price, it beats the Cohiba Red Dot hands down. However, I would much rather plunk down $8 for an Ashton Aged Maduro (which I just reviewed.) Don Carlos is basically a special occasion smoke, or a "rich man's cigar," if you will. If you bring in 75 to 100 grand salary a year, then by all means, buy a box. For most of us "po folk," however, may I suggest a nice Cameroon wrapped Dominican JR Alternative. How does that song go from "Fiddler On The Roof?" ... oh yeah ... "If I were a rich man ..."

"Good cigar..but not one of the best"
This cigar was very good...just not great. I guess I was expecting more. The cigar had a slightly restrictive draw, nice full smoke, good burn and ash. The flavor and strength were not as strong as I like, but again a solid cigar.

"Quality Smoke"
I announce first that I would be considered a novice smoker amongst the regulars that post opinions here. I'm still learning through experience what I like and don't like. I went to my local smoke shop looking for the Don Carlos #4 (based on ratings from this website), but there were none so I ended up with the Double Robusto. Smoked it that same night when out with friends. I must say I really enjoyed the flavor, burn quality and easy draw of this stick. While playing pool, I sometimes forgot about my smoke laying in the ashtray. Every time I went back to it, it was still lit with a fine ash log. That's a first for me and I was impressed. I smoked this baby down to the nub. I think I paid too much (10.50) but I'm happy I tried one.

"Just Mild"
This is just a higher priced Fuente 858. There is nothing particularly special about this cigar. Smoke smells nice, draw is great, construction is good, but it tastes like every other good Fuente. I guess I'm getting sick of the Fuente taste. It is mild, consistent, but not very interesting. I smoked some no name cigar last night that was much better than this. Try a Gispert robusto or the regular Fuente 858. A definite let down. Sorry, but not worth the $9.00 I paid. There are much better tasting cigars for less.

"Primo numer 1 non cuban"
For those special moments, this is the finest non cuban you can buy. Expenesive but much less so than a cubano and legal. This is a potent after dinner cigar, but not too potent. My price is based on an internet box.

Excellent construction. The draw was great provide mouthful of thick smoke. Flavor is typical of Don Carlos series but the larger ring size allows for more intense taste. One of the best mild cigars around.
