"Pretty good..."
I have had great experiences with other Fuente sun grown vitolas, so I picked one of these up last weekend. Wasn't disappointed, but some of the more tantalizing flavor nuances seemed absent. I appreciate the sweeter taste of the sun grown leaf, but it was noticeably milder than other sun growns. Perhaps just a fluke with this particular stick. Overall, a fine construction and appearance. It appeared to have a bit of bloom and had been in the humidor for quite some time, so I was sort of expecting more. On the whole, however, no complaints from me!

"better than the avg AF"
a good smoke if you're looking for a nic buzz. I'll always keep a few around, but i wont smoke the rest soon. flavor is as advertised.. uniquely AF. woody, earthy, sharp at first, coal toward the end

"Always good"
I'm not a Fuente devotee, but the Double Chat SGs deserve credit for consistent classic sweet/spicy SG flavor and excellent performance. I don't want to be caught without them.

"Very pleased"
I got a 5'er from CBID about two months ago and let them sit in my humi since then. I took one out late last night with my night cap and was very pleased. I will probably be blasted when I say this but I love this sun grown line with a Capt'n and Coke. The appearance and contruction was almost flawless with the exception of one huge vein that started in the cap and ended about half way. I did have some minor burn problems in the first 1/3, but after that point, it corrected itself out and was razor sharp till the nub. The flavor was typical to this line... sweet and with hints of nuts and toffee. I didn't pay anywhere near MSRP and don't really anyone should, but if you have never tried this line or this stick, splurge and try one.

"My favorite Fuente"
Spice and earthy leather. A great combo of flavors in this, my favorite Fuente. I have been smoking these for many years. I admire Fuente for their consistency . I know exactly what to expect when I light one up, regardless of the line. Never a bad burn with the DCF. A great enjoyable bite on the palate. The spiciness continues through with it's finish. In my opinion, this is the best value in a cigar. Bar none.

"Pleasently Surprised"
I havn't had much luck with Fuentes in the past so I have mostly avoided them. I'm glad that I decided to try one of these. It was a great cigar. Draw and burn were very good. I only had to make 2 minor corrections. It has a good spice at the beginning and settles down to a woody, leathery taste with a hint of sweetness. Best part about it is that it won't break you. I have seen boxes online for as little as $88.00/box. Highly recommended.

"Incredible after 6 months!"
I got a five pack of these and smoked the first immediately, it was OK but nothing special. 3 months later smoked another and it was better but still just average. Now 6 months out - WOW - incredible cigar! Flavor and burn were outstanding, need to get a box and age 'em.

"Long Lasting, Very Satisfying"
Very good stick. Solid, white ash. Even burn, good draw. Great taste...even creamy after the first inch.

"A Lovely, Long Smoke"
Flawless construction, nice, even burn. Spicy with a hint of wood. Draws well and lasts a long time. The wrapper adds a nice touch to the blend. Not as good as a Don Carlos, but, then again, few cigars are that good.

"One hell of a smoke"
This is one nice and very taste smoke. The SG wrapper is wonderful. It really adds to this blend a lot. Great construction and burn, long and slow with tons of flavor. Spicy, earthy and lots of wood. It's med to full with a kick to it. A wonderful smoke after dinner.

"Young"
I am a big fan of Fuentes, particularly the Sun Grown line but I found this stick to pail in comparison to the Royal Salute and Cuban Belicoso. I have a hunch it wasn't aged long enough. At just over $4 a stick, is also a good value. Strong, earthy flavors with tons of smoke and a powerful kick, I'll definitely try some more. Rated 91 by CA, hope the price doesnt go too high.

"Nice"
Nicely constructed cigar like all the Fuentes, perfect draw and burn. Not as flavorful as the Premium Fuente line, I would take a Hemingway or Don Carlos over this cigar if given a choice, but still nice.

"Arturo Fuente Double Chateau Fuente Sun Grown"
Arturo Fuente Sun Grown Double Chateau Fuente
This Sun grown Double Chat was gifted to me by BruceOLee to be smoked while I watch the Fuente Family and OpusX movies. Well, I've already seen both but I wanted to make my wife and mother watch the Fuente Family movie because I found it to be very inspirational and moving. I have smoked the AFSGChateau Fuente which is about half the size of the double. I did not expect the Chat Fuente to be so good and I was very suprised at how deep the flavors were. The Chateau Fuente series is cleverly named so because they are made at the Fuente Family's Chateau Fuente alongside with the famous Fuente Fuente OpusX brand. I allowed the cigar about two weeks to rejuvenate and rehydrate itself.
So I started up the Fuente Family DVD with my wife by my side, who was working on a puzzle. My mom sat in a recliner drinking her coffee and smoking her cigarettes. It was her who encouraged me to chose this cigar over the Padron Anniversary, which I have already reviewed. I had just finished a light breakfast of two biscuits and imbibed my favorite sunday stimulating libation, a homemade Vanilla Cappuccino.
The Arturo Fuente Sun Grown Double Chateau Feunte is magnificent looking cigar with an idealistic size of 6 3/4 x 50. While this Toro was gifted to me they generally cost a mere $6.00. That is about how much a hemmingway short will set you back and less than an AF Conones Maduro, which is another great treat from the fuente family. What a delightful value for this cigar! The wrapper appears just as all good cigars should: Flawlessly smooth, Dark, and Oily. The foot was slightly boxy but the overall construction (prelight) was very good. The prelight aroma and taste resembles the actual taste of the cigar. The taste of Sun Grown Chateau Fuente is a brilliantly balanced mixture of spicey and woody with captivatingly mysterious unidentifiable undertones. You will also detect a peppery taste to the finish, which I find to be quite enjoyable. I expect the Double Chateau fuente to have similiar characteristics but there is only one way to know. It's time to light up!
I lightly heated the foot get the juices flowin'. Using a BIC lighter, which I normally don't do, I got a nearly flawless burn going, also something that I rarely can do :). I was a bit suprised at the gentle nature of the initial puff. From the first immediate puff from lighting, the smoke was cool, inviting, and full of flavor. Making my way through the foot of the cigar, towards the body, their is a bit of a micro-evolution of taste, a sort of Mini-proression if you will. Within about 5 puffs in 3 minutes the taste progresses into a deep peppery flavor with pleasant palate penetrating finish. The beautiful slate colored ash is full of crevices which bind together forming intricate fractals that compliment the visions formed in the smoke which dance to the heavens (Aka, my ceiling fan) carrying the prayers of my family. The ash is beginning to arch upwards towards the sky as well. This divine stogie is sending me many signals that it is destined for that holy place in the sky where all good cigars end up when they are smoked.
I've finally made my way into the body of the cigar. I am completely shocked at how incredibly smooth and tame the cigar is. The smaller sized Chat Fuente was much more robust and fuller bodied than this. The finish is freaking awesome tasting. This is another one of those cigars that you have to experience nasally. New nasal finish reveals a new sort of spicy flavor. "Spicy" really does justice to the description of this cigars flavor. It reminds me very much of a Carlos Torano that I have smoked before, possibly the 1916 cameroon but it still possesses its own interesting elements. Just as in the Chat Fuente there is this undefinable mysterious undertone that I can't quite put my finger on. A small mushroom shaped piece of wrapper leaf curved up into the ash in the shape of a tribal tattoo and looked

"Sun grown, yessir"
Quite enjoyable. When I had the Chateau Fuente Sun Grown (robusto), I thought it was pretty good, and that I wanted to try the wrapper in a larger size. I didn't think it would be the next night! Well, it was quite enjoyable. A poor man's Opus X, fer sure. The draw was quite good, if on the stiff side. The wrapper has that sun grown look. I got good full bodied flavor with a hint of peppery spice. The price was well worth the value here. I'll be buying a box of these babies. A 9 across the board.

"uneven burn, inconsistent smoke"
Split a half box from recommendation of friend. I have enjoyed the Hem. Short Stories and Hem. Classic. Not as flavorful as the Hemingways. 2 out of 7 smokes were inconsistent burn, a buddy sparked one and had same problems with the burn. I was plugged and returned to shop for Don Carlos robusto. But for the 4 that smoked well, I enjoyed the ring size and difference in feel in you fingers, the larger ring size allowed more smoke, less need to draw and ashed nicely allowing cooler more flavorful smoke compared to the Hemingway. I wish AF could do better with the consistency on the smoke because overall I like the size but can't waste the $8 gambling.

"Shorter Chateau SG is better"
Got this Fuente DC SG as a gift. The stick was very flavorful and was on the fuller side of a med. to full body strength. Cigar burned crooked from the beg. and never straightened out. Except for the burn issue, this was a very good cigar. However, I prefer the shorter Chateau SG instead.

"A lot of Spicy flavor without harshness"
A fragrant and sumptious cigar for those who like a spicy stick. I'm on my third box since late summer, and like "BigDaddyO" mentioned, I keep coming back to it. A real palate pleaser without any harshness.

"One of my Very Favorite Cigars"
This is one of my classic cigars. I rarely smoke a bad DC SG. Always a great sungrown taste, and a great size, although the burn can vary at times. If you haven't had a Fuente Sungrown, and like larger cigars, definately try this one.

"This is a 9.0"
This is a really GREAT cigar. I have smoked hundreds of different cigars and I keep coming back to this one. Medium Full to Full Bodied, with a nice spicy touch. Burns and draws exceptionally well. An Opus X and Cuban Trinidad have rated better in my book, but no other non-cuban except for the Fuente Royal Salute Sungrown has yet to come close. If you try one based on my review, I look forward to your comments as well. - BigDaddyO "Live to Smoke, Smoke to Live!"

Definitely not for gringos! A powerhouse of flavor. Leather, nutty, earthy cedar and spice which builds with every draw right down to the nub without getting harsh. Make sure you have time to meditate on this one.
