"Delicious"
I'm not sure why but I insist on trying every cigar out there. All I need to do to be happy is just stick with Ashton. This cigar is fabulous - sweet and spicy - and so refined. It smokes like it's many years old. Expert construction, draw, burn, etc. Flavors range from caramel to cinnamon. Just great.

"Balanced"
Toothy colorado wrapper with a few small veins. Firm roll with no soft spots. Cap is a bit rough. Smooth flavors of cocoa, spice and nuts. First third is mild bodied and finishes medium. Burn is uneven with a flaky ash. Smooth and balanced flavors coat the mouth throughout the smoke. An elegant smoke.

"Tastes just like a Hemingway"
For what it's worth this tasted just like an AF Hemingway. Same toasty, caramel flavor. About the same strength. For the money I'd stick with the Hemingway

"One of my favorites!"
Caramel, vanilla, toasted nuts. I know, it sound like desert. One of my favorite Cameroon wrapped cigars. Time does very nice things to this smoke. About a year on these, turns them from average to excellent. The only drawback is the price. If I can find them for under $6 I think it's a good buy. Too expensive at retail. IMHO, Don Carlos line is a better deal.

I've burned several of these and they have not failed to please. Too pricey for my everyday smoke, but these and some VSG make up my 2nd drawer (in a top down 7 drawer humi)

"Nice Cameroon"
I've smoked quite a few cameroons, and this one is a new favorite.....one thing people new to cameroon wrappers must understand is that they are, by nature, a thin delicate wrapper-so you have to be gentle to avoid cracking...that being said, I'm greatly pleased with this line from ashton, especially considering the young age....a welcome change of pace IMHO, and I'm looking forward to adding 2 more years to my newly aquired stock...smoking pretty good right now, but has all the elements for outstanding short-term aging. The draw is very generous, which is crucial when considering the delicate nature of the wrapper-a tighter draw = more stress on the wrapper, and would most likiely result in cracking. I'm very pleased to find another cameroon of this quality, as I've been searching for quite some time now...always a welcomed change of pace from my normal maduros, ecuadorian, and nicaraguan wrapped cigars. I would also recommend the cohiba red dot coronas, if your Really craving something spicey. While good now.....in due time, my rating will certainly be higher in the flavor department, for my second review of this cigar.

"Average"
I found this cigar to be just above average. I've been trying many CA's top 25, and I think this is over-rated. I'm no expert, but this cigar had a very one-dimensional flavor, construction and burn. Definitely good, but you could do a lot better for half the price with a Padron etc...

"Very nice"
So far with the ashton line I was disappointed with the cabinet and very happy with the VSG. After seeing this stick make the top 25 and finally finding a shop with it in stock I gave it a go. I really enjoyed it. Great smell from the wrapper and the foot before lighting. Had a very nice creamy taste with a bit of cedar and a burnt sugar/carmel taste. Also noticed some almond. Towards the end got a bit spicy but still with sweet undertones. The finish was great as well. Very nice construction and nice even burn with a light ash. I'm looking forward to picking up some more and putting some age on them.

"Where's the beef?"
Love Ashton VSGs, so I was looking forward to this, especially since it made CA's Top 25 list. Disappointing. Not a bad cigar, certainly, but nothing worthy of its price or rating IMHO. I have another, and if it impresses me I'll repost.

"Flat and tasteless"
Picked up this smoke from the ratings both on here and other places and maybe my expectation was high but regardless, this was a virtually tasteless, mild smoke I've had in a long time. I could detect the slight sweetness of the cameroon wrapper and lots of cedar but nothing that was enjoyable for me. Nice looking but thats where it ended.

"Funny story!"
I got a box early upon their release and was astounded at how much I loved the flavor of this puppy! I got a few more of the other sizes and liked nearly all of them, this 1 being my favorite of all. This cigar as well as the Camacho Corojo line and the Tatuaje brand remind me the most of ISOM's. I nearly smoked all from my box ...then WHAM! CA ranks it 8TH in the top 25! that's bad..price is sure to go up...making it a tough regular smoke. So good though, that I will suck it up and get more.

"Is It, or Isn't It?"
A milder Opus X Fuente Fuente. A guy at my local cigar shop pointed this out to me in the humi on Friday. Yesterday, when i went there for Superbowl XL, I bought one. Quite frankly, i was blown away. It seems to me that some VSG's are strong without great flavor. The Puro Sol is milder, with flavor. Kinda like an Opus X Lite. Great construction, draw, everything. Maybe a little costly, but the best Ashton I've ever had.

"Excellent"
I'll start off by saying that I've tried a couple of Ashton's VSG line and I wasn't impressed, especially considering the premium price.

After reading the latest issue of Cigar Aficionado, I saw that they rated this particular smoke #8 in their top 25 of 2005. So, I deicided to give it a try and was not only surprised, but thrilled by how great this smoke was.

I had to smoke about 1/2 inch for the flavor to kick in and it got better as the smoke went on. The ash was like fine white powder and the smoke was sweet, lightly spicy, with hints of cedar and citrus. This is one of the few smokes that I didn't want to end... it was that good.

My only complaints is that it was tightly rolled and required some nursing to keep it burning evenly; it did require two relights.

Overall, this is a grea premium smoke. At ~$11, it's not one most could afford to smoke regularly, but it'd make a great smoke for a lazy saturday or sunday afternoon.

"I must have had a bad one"
Bought one in a good Los Angeles cigar shop that has an excellent walk-in humidor based on ratings here. Draw was good but it would not stay lit if put down for a minute and I had to keep relighting it. First inch was nothing special. Middle improved to average. Finished strong but overall wasn't worth the effort. I may try one again if I can get another somewhat less expensive, just to make sure I didn't get a bad one. I'll try anything that isn't awful three times to rule out a bad batch, so I'm hoping the next ones will live up to the strong reviews I've seen here.

"Best Ashton I've ever had"
A little on the expensive side but well worth it and as Gbwyat said is a great special occasion cigar. Medium but complex flavors I got pepper, coffe and chocolate out of this one. A great cigar to have with a good whiskey or Scotch.

"Expensive.....but very good!"
It's a cigar........ it does not have gold in the tobacco. I HATE paying too much for cigars, but I did love this one. Great start, and a long soothing finish. A medium body gar with hints of pepper (yummy) and toasted nut.

"Elegant and expensive"
This is an attractive and well-made cigar, with a dark, toothy, and slightly oily wrapper. It has a perfect burn, and the whitish-gray ash that forms at the foot is beautiful to behold. The draw is rather firm. After it warms up, it has pleasant and toasty wood notes and some light pepper. The second half becomes creamier, with a mildly spicy finish. This is a medium-bodied smoke that's meant to be refined and elegant and not overpowering. It's biggest drawback: it's too expensive.

"Not perfect...but in the neighborhood"
If your looking for a cigar to with the power to blow your doors off...keep looking. On the other hand, if you appreciate a refined medium-bodied cigar designed for relaxing on the patio with your favorite drink (a smooth Canadian whiskey, as in this case) while scratching your favorite dog(s) behind the ears and watching the world go by, then this one's for you. Smooth full draw and it held an ash an inch and a half to two inches each time. The first half was damned near perfect. The second half got a bit more intense picking up some charred wood flavoring. Little aftertaste, if any, all attributable to the second half and it was smoked to the band. If Ashton could get this stick down to the $5.00 range it could be one for anytime. For now go ahead and pick some up for holidays, special occasions and Sundays. You'll be glad ya did.
