"overrated, but acceptable"
Have tried two boxes, the first after reading great reviews, the second to verify that I didn't get a 'fluke' box the first time. I mostly smoke maduros, with medium to strong, full bodied, mellow taste. These leave me unimpressed. The taste is almost 'shallow' and cardboard-y even though technically 'full flavored'. It isn't a complex flavor. I guess that's what you get for it being cheap. A dramatically better inexpensive smoke is the Indian Tabac Superfuerte Maduro; one of the better cigars in its class, regardless of price.

"Good but not worth the price"
After thinking these were the holy grail of maduro cigars, i bought a box. They were OK but there are equal or better maduros for much, much less.

"nothing special"
Pretty good cigar but way too mild for a maduro from a quality brand. I also agree the taste was pretty one dimensional.

"Glad it was free"
Got it as a freebe with a VSG purchase at the local shop. Very one dimensional. First third was tasty but not exciting. The last 2 thirds were boring and boardered on bad. Perfectly constructed and had wonderful prelight aromas. I expected much more.

"Good 1/2, would smoke again for 1/2 price"
I agree with other reviewers that this cigar gets harsher as it gets shorter. To me it's a great looking cigar before you smoke it. I love deep maduro wrappers. When I lit it up the very first draw made me go "ahh", Mature flavor, spice with a slight pepper, the finish was mild but long... And then I got to the 2nd half of the stick. It just kept getting more aggressive in a bad way. I kept thinking, "maybe it will pass". But it didn't. Before the band I was done. Also, after it warmed up the construction started to appear a little more suspect. Good draw, even and pleasant ash.

"Hmmm, Maybe"
This cigar's saving grace was the flavors of the first third of the cigar. Beyond that, don't bother. The construction was poor at best. There was a strong ligero leaf on the bottom of the stick that caused it burn slower on one side and even after three touch-ups it still never burned well. The cap was loose and the wrapper had two veins that were downright distracting and unpleasant. As for the flavors, they were slightly sweet and hard to identify, I'm not very good at picking them out, but they were delicious in the first third. They changed with every puff. It almost negated the construction flaws. Then after the first third it settled into a consistent, harsh, burnt out flavor. It was almost stale toward the end which is never good considering it never actually went out. I've had other Ashton's that I would put in the top ten. This one might be near the bottom. Oh, and way too expensive but I guess you're paying for the Ashton name anyway.

"Classic"
I'm surprised some folks gave this cigar less than a 7. I find these flawless. Rich, oily with a succulent strong spicy leather taste that just gets your eyes watering-Great! Long, slow burn that self corrects any runners. Box Buy

"average"
This is not one of Ashton's best cigars. Really not much in the way of flavor. Fairly mild and bland. Mostly floral and woody notes. Reminded me of a CAO MX2 which was almost exactly like this one. I am not a big CAO fan.
Not that this cigar is terrible, but it is not worth the price--there's better out there. The Cabinet is Ashton's best in my opinion.

"A Substantial Stick"
This Maduro started out a little sweet and then settled into a peppery smoke with plenty of bite but not a bit harsh. Sophisticated, not for everyday. Good for a treat.

"Ick."
A fine looking maduro, a splotchy oily wrapper with a bit of tooth. Fired up nicely, burned well, although there was tough stem in the binder that actually stuck out when I tapped the first ash-- unusual, especially for a smoke of this caliber. But there was little to no complexity here, and I detected none of the expected flavors-- just tobacco, and slightly tarry at that. Maybe I got a dud, or a fake even? Looked too nice to be a fake, but who knows. Not a great experience. Had to make up for it with an MX2.

"One good maduro......."
This Ashton didn't disappoint. This smoke started with a very dominant chocolately taste, with cocoa and woodsy undertones. It maintained those flavors for the duration of the smoke. Towards the second 1/2, it did get a little creamier, but all flavors were pretty constant. A great smoke with an even burn, and a smooth draw. A wonderful aroma was produced. One of my favorite maduros'. If you get the chance, keep a few of these around!!

"Terrific Cigar!"
I bought a box of these gems because I like a Maduro cigar, and they did not let me down. Initial flavor upon lighting them is an almost chocolately taste, then quickly turns very smooth and "woodsy". Burns wonderfully, nice white ash, very easy to keep lit, and has a terrific draw. Great flavor throughout, and milder than expected but not in a bad way. Great looking, very appealing in both looks and feel. I like to try a variety of cigars, but this one has me wondering why I'd ever consider another kind ever! Love at first light! Spend the money, it's worth it, you WON'T be disappointed!

"Casino Winner"
I bought my first 40 in the smoke shop at Harrah's Tahoe. I didn't win any money, but this smoke was a real winner. Before I lite it, I noticed an almost menthol flavor, after the fire, the taste changed to a more woodsy flavor. The construction was great and it had a very easy but firm draw. I trully enjoyable smoke. It cost too much in the casino shop, but it was worth the experience.
