"Take me away to another land"
The vsg is now on my top ten list. Wait. It is on my top 5 list, which is a shame because it is too expensive to smoke regularly. At any rate, this is a must smoke. Delicious, sweet, aromatic woodsy/spiciness with a seemingly infinite finish. I will see you again my friend...

"In Good Company"
After a steak dinner I shared a couple of these with my Dad and my father in law on my balcony. As the Cubans and the Graycliffs are starting to dwindle from my humidor, I thought that this premium Corona would be the perfect way to finish off the evening. The standout for the cigar in my mind is the crisp burn, and perfect draw. The wrapper was immaculate, I believe it comes from the Fuente farms and is sun grown. During the smoke there was lots of leather and cocoa. Towards the end of the cigar, although the burn was cool, there was a little harshness in the back of my throat. On the power scale, this cigar rates about a 7.5, but its nice flavor and appearance let me rate this an overall score of 8.8. This is a great cigar to have after a nice dinner, and even though I tend to stay more towards the 50+ ring gauge, this corona really did its job well. For the next dinner, I hope we smoke the new Opus X red tips my dad said he was getting in soon!

"Highly improved with time"
I bought a few of these offline and smoked one after a month. That was a mistake. I was very disappointed by the cigar. However after 7 months in the humi I revisited the cigar on friday night and was very glad I didnt give away the remaining. Smooth, good flavor, and medium strength. Perfect Burn.

"It's out of my system."
For years now I've avoided paying the big price of trying the OpusX and the VSG. I can't say anything bad about this cigar, it's a very good $5.00 smoke but that's about it. Smokes great no corrections needed and the ash holds forever. Nice medium body with spicy cedar and sweet wood flavors. I paid $9.00 on a whim and found out my intuition was true hype is the only reason this cigar sells for so much. Watch out for planned scarcity it is a real attraction for those of us looking for the ultimate smoking experience. Even though I consider myself fairly shrewd I was finally sucked in.

"Par for the course"
I may be a little biased as I love the Ashton VSG Robusto. I popped in a cigar shop on 6th Ave, Manhattan and they did not have the robusto so I tried the corona gorda. Very good flavor including leather, fruit, and spice. The burn was even and the draw OK for a corona. I enjoyed a pleasant and intelligent conversation with a fellow cigar smoker while in the shop.

"Awesome!"
What a fine cigar. Draw was great, ash was awesome (some serious white ash), burn was perfect. Awesome. Had some kick to it, but not over-the-top. Flavor was exceptional, I'd say kind of "zesty". Did I mention Awesome?

I don't understand how someone could rate these as just ok?? Maybe if it dried out in the attic but then still good. Just a great blend of tobacco with a perfect wrapper.

"Flavor!!"
The VSGs ( and I like 'em best in this size ) are all about tangy, sweet and spicy flavor, virtually defining what a great "sungrown" cigar should taste like. And the one I just had performed flawlessly, with an even burn and firmish smooth draw. Yeah, they're pricy, and sometimes inconsistent, but when they're on like this....it's worth the search.

"Great smoke"
I really like the VSG line. This size is great nice if you want something bigger then your normal corona, but not in the mood for a toro sized smoke. Wrapper is always dark and oily with good full flavored smoked. Nice wood and leather flavor with a great aroma and thick smoke.

"10 months"
I had this little guy in my humidor for about 10 months now. I usually let VSGs sit for 6-12 months. It was absolutely fantastic. It has an attractive dark wrapper, though not as oily as it was when new. Perfect construction. A lush draw (amazing). Perfume like smell and loads of aroma and flavors. Some wood with leather with a nice full body. I also noticed some hints of licorice and spice half way down, which is odd because I smoke alot of these and I've never tasted these flavors from this stick (I guess this box is a choice one). A great finish as well. VSG's are simply great cigars.

This cigar has a near perfect appearance, and provides a high quality burn with precision in the flavor of slight spice, blended with a earthy overtone. Always great to smoke high quality

"A staple for me"
I truly enjoy this cigar. Ive smoked nearly 2.5 boxes and its definitely the most smoked out of my humidor. If given the choice though I like the Puro Sol a little better for its complexity. This smoke however is a wonderfully crafted, great tasting cigar.

"Variable"
Smoked two of these that had been gifted from differnt friends over the past year. They smoked quite different from one another (bboth at 65% for months), I don't know the age of them to say much to explain this. The better of the two was really a fantastic smoke. The spicy character was really exceptional, and the burn and draw were flawless. The other one wasn't nearly as good. For the ratings I am putting in the average.

"Recovering..."
This cigar had a great appearence, but I had to constantly correct and re-correct the burn. I was too busy trying to get it right to truly appreciated the previously praised complexity of this smoke. I did, however, feel like I had just taken a pinch of Skoal. Serious nicotine buzz. I'll give it another shot, but at $11 it's a pricey proposition.

"Not at this price!"
Great flavor. Med to full smoke here. I had mine about 2 years ago. I went to buy another and notice that the price skyrocketed from 8 to about 11 bucks a stick. No way Ashton. Stick this in your ear and toke!

"Power"
This stick packs some punch!! Very nice box-pressed cigar with a dry/rough-looking dark brown wrapper with minimal veins. Nice prelight aroma with solid construction and no soft spots. Easy light. Burned a little hot in the first third, but eased out a bit after. Started with black pepper, earth, and burnt espresso. These flavors were joined by cocoa and a hint of dark chocolate by the halfway point. This rich, complex, and spicy smoke is medium to full-bodied (fuller as you smoke it!) that actually makes your palate and nose tingle! By the last third, I was definitely feeling the Vitamin N, and by the nub, I may have been delerious! The cigar took about an hour to smoke and about an hour and a half to recover. It paired well with Havana Club Rum (7 year), but should be smoked after a good meal, in retrospect. All in all, I thought it was very tasty, but not for the faint of heart.

"Forget the hype"
I was anxious to try this cigar after seeing it rated in CE, and hearing a fellow smoker (although a pretentious one at that) sing its praises. On the plus side, the cigar burned well, had a nice spicy taste and aroma, and was flawlessly constructed. On the down side if I had been blindfolded and someone handed me a Don Elias (available for $1 online) I would not have known the difference. Overall, this is a very tasty cigar, but there are better choices for the budget conscious smoker.

I've smoke many different top line cigars: (opus x, cohiba esplendido, montecristo no. 2) even the top of the line cubans did not compare to this oily, beautiful constructed, flavoured smoke. I wanted to eat it when i was done. definitely try one of these, before i buy them all!!!!!!!

"different this year"
once again the VSG's hit the market this fall and as usual they are hard to get. I have bought 3 or 4 so far and i notice a difference in taste this year as opposed to the past 2 years i have been smoking them. In the past the great flavor would linger in my mouth overnight and i'd still taste its goodness the next morning. This time the flavors have been off and the stick didnt even burn too well. The once beautiful white ash has been dark grey almost black this time around. I feel like i got a fake Cuban.. Has anyone else noticed a difference?? Also the price for these in all the cigar shops has jumped from $8.00 to 10-20 bucks!!

"Is it that good?"
After reading all these raving reviews I gave this vitola another chance: Nice looking - yes, good construction - yes, strong - yes, full body - yes, but as far as flavor this is not that great of a cigar. Very one dimensional, not balanced, not complex, just some strong somehow bitter taste. Not refined at all!
