"Not up to other VSG's"
Usual great looks for a VSG. Draw a bit tighter and showing some bitter elements in comparison to other cigars from this line. Of the seven sticks in this line I've had, the Spellbound is hands down the best.

"Pretty good"
I typically like the Tres Mystique a lot and had the Spellbound and enjoyed that as well. This was a decent smoke, similar flavor profiles as the other too. I found the flavors a little muted compared to the other 2 however. Also, a little one dimensional. Construction was solid.

"great smoke"
Bought by the recommendation of my local B&M owner. Thoroughly enjoyed this smoke. If pairing with a drink, pick something strong and dark (eg. rum & coke). I have had a couple with drinks that ruined the flavour. The construction is beautiful, and the draw had a light drag. Very earthy, woody flavours with a little sweetness. A little bit overpriced, but good nonetheless.

"A personal favorite"
Since discovering the VSG line my humi is never without several aging (and tempting me). Good draw, lots of smoke and rich, spicy flavor. Friends I shared with have all agreed: a great smoke!

"A treat!"
I bought just one of these at the recommendation of the cigar shop owner, and I was throughly impressed. Good stable ash, smooth from beginning to end, this cigar is ready to impress. The burn was a little uneven in the beginning on the wrapper, but was perfect after a little touch up. Over-all I was highly impressed and will be buying a couple more for my humidor to save for special occasions.

"spice and wood"
It has some pop at the begining. It is a good cigar, but it doesn't hold up against the Padron Annie series.

"Long and Excellent"
Subtle (not like VS) box press. Dark, oily wrapper. Solid construction. Very inviting prelight aroma. Easy draw. Copious smoke. Smooth flavors of cocoa and cedar. Very even burn with a long, white ash. Lasted more than 90 minutes. At $8 a stick, not for every day, but sure put away the Monday blues today.

"Getting Better"
Tried a couple of these. Need four to six months in the humi. Right out of the box they are hit or miss. Once they age, they are great cigars. When smoked too young, they taste like you're licking an ashtray. Found a source where I can get them by the box. Six months from now they'll be a treat.

"Newbies need not apply!"
I am having a hard time with some of these low ball reviews. I have been smoking 3-4 cigars a week for 12 years. This cigar is one of the best I have smoked. Ranks up there with Fuente Opus X, Padron Annies, and isom Cohiba. This cigar is made for afficionados or people who appreciate quality. Great cigar fresh out of the box. Even better with some age.

"Full Body, But Not My Flavor"
Well, construction was flawless, but the flavor was not what I expected. Sure, everclear is 190 proof and strong; however, I rather drink some 80 Proof vodka on the rocks. I expected more from this AF smoke.

"For the price i think it's a good value"
I f you are like me than you have a taste for full flavor powerhouses . This cigar is in the same league as Opus and Padron 64 but at a much better pricepoint and always consistent

"Good cigars"
These are very good cigars, but I find they lack the consistency in construction that great cigars should have. I am on my second full box of the 7x49s and find the flavor amazing—full, spicy, clean, tobacco-y, just the way a cigar should be. Even the ones that need additional attention with the lighter do not get over-heated or begin to go sour. This is, however, something that should not be necessary of any cigar, especially one around $9.00 - $10.00 a stick. The first box I bought had only a few construction duds (still too many). The second box has been a completely different story. I felt a few of the cigars before the purchase, and against all former experience and knowledge I should have not bought them. A few of them felt funny—lumpy and had loose construction. Either way I bought them. They taste every bit as good as they should, but the constant touch-ups with the lighter are very aggravating and take away from the whole relaxing thing (which is one of the reasons we all smoke!). I am a huge Padron 64 fan. Taste-wise, both are equal (different, but equal as far as taste rating would go). The VSGs are a bit fuller body and a spicier, which make them an oh-so-sweet combo with the Padrons, but they come nowhere close the construction and consistency of Padron. After 7-8 boxes of Padrons I have had less aggravation than with the 2 boxes of VSGs. Either way—smoke the VSGs as much as you can, but beware of the construction. The value rating is despite construction/consistency issues because they are great tasting cigars.

"One of the Best from Anywhere!!!"
Having burned everything from the PSD4 and BBF to the Opus X and Padron 1964, it is very difficult for me to believe that anyone would ever rate this stick below an 8.5 to 9. The cigar is an all-around gem: great aroma and press construction, flawless burn and combustion, easy draw, medium to full power with a lighter body, and a flavor that always makes me question "How is this a Dominican cigar?" It smacks of coffee and cocoa, with a very floral quality to the smoke. The wrapper is the sweetest tasting sun-grown I have ever had. Most importantly, I have yet to have ever opened a new box, pulled one out and fired up, and felt that it needed downtime in the humi. Very few sticks that you can say that about. Ashton has done a great job commissioning Fuente as the creator. Awesome job, Carlito!!!

"Overhyped"
Sure it's a good cigar, but not all that it's hyped to be. Very well made, but it really lacked depth and complexity, in my opinion. It was medium bodied, a bt eppery, and nutty.

"Ideal weekend smoke"
The second biggest cigar in the VSG line, only slightly shorter and slimmer than the Spellbound; it's stilll an imposing smoke with its characteristic rugged, streaky, and oily wrapper. The draw is easy and full putting out thick clouds of smoke with a heavy aroma. The burn may not be razor-straight, but it's consistent and doesn't need correcting until late in the smoke. It's very flavorful with lots of leather and spice, and a black coffee flavor that leads onto the finish. Medium to full in body, balanced and quite smooth; aging improves any cigar, but the additonal humidor time really does wonders on this smoke. Prices vary greatly on this line, so if you can find at around $10, I consider that good value for this long (90 minutes at least) and top-notch smoke.

"sit back and relax....a long time..."
One of the few sticks I've ever had that I can truly state is "strong". From start to finish this spicy number burned slow and true. Sweet wrapper balanced a strong Ligero filler. This will truly put a spell on you.

"Excellent!"
The one I jsut finished was about several years old and it was fanasitic to say the least. Even the per light draw was chocolate and spice. Not a beautiful cigar at all but the construction was very good slightly tight draw excellent brun nice ash. But the flavors of this one were what I love in a cigar, spicy strong hints of vinilla and toasted nuts, with some coffee in there. Just a outstanding smoke. Now if they could cut the price some and you could find them i'd be a happy camper. Recommended!!

"Who has time for these?"
This is a very good cigar. A cigar so good you can't bring yourself to rush it, which leads to the question above. It takes a good 2 hours to smoke this lovely stick, so budget your time accordingly!

"pretty good much potential"
Pretty good cigar; spicy, strong and full bodied with that characteristic vanilla scented smoke that permeates from Dominican tobacco. The cigar needs to age to reach its full potential.

"Good cigar - too expensive"
In a word, disappointment - however this cigar may have been doomed from the start... First of all, the local store touted this as THE cigar to try - the owner completed nearly a 4 minute Soliloquy about VSG's greatness as compared with Opus X, Padron, etc... Minutes later, he had $15 of my money and I paid too much for a plain good cigar. The cigar is attractive. Although through the first half of the smoke, this cigar had slight burn problems, it righted itself during the second half - this could have been my light? The flavor was slightly sweet - the first half reminded me of a RyJ Reserve Maduro without the Maduro 'kick.' Towards the end, this cigar did show signs of greatness, with fleeting hints of roasted nuts and coffee. Unfortunately, this cigar never really measured up to the high expectations that I set (given the sales pitch and $15). I am encouraged by other reviewers' comments and will certainly try other sizes as this size appears to leave many smokers under a spell.

"Very nice cigar"
Nice dark brown and oily wrapper, The draw was a bit tough, but still smoked well once it got going. Nice white ash and an even burn. Construction was superb. Not as powerful as the Enchantment or Illusion. Tasted not to complex basically tasted wood and cedar with possibly a bit leathery. A little mild for me as far as vsg's go, however still a nice smoke

"Disappearing act"
Sorcerer sized churchill was a nice easy going smoke. I didn't find it to be as full boddied as other VSG I have tried. The Opus X wrapper added a nice nutty flavor. I liked it, but I doubt I would buy it again at the price. The flavor consistancy is all over the place.

"It drained my juice"
Bought in 2000. No news here. So strong and spicy that smoke hurts my eyes. I am really not sure if this is what cigar is all about. Would trade strength with a little more flavor...but then I cannot fault the sheer quality.
