A great cigar, one of the strongest of the ISOMs that still has great flavor. Great construction. Even burning.

"As good as any"
One of the best churchills around. Beautifully packaged and easy to smoke. Perhaps a bit short on character; no real signature taste, as with Montecristo. I've had a couple of boxes and they have all been top notch. In this size, second only to the Punch churchill. Also, this isn't one of those super size churchills - this is the real size. Excellent.

"Construction (light) issues"
Huge cigar with a lighter wrapper....had all the typical Boli earthiness and spice. Not too complex, but good flavor regardless. The second half was difficult to keep lit though, I had to relight over a half dozen times even though I was smoking consistently. Good volume of smoke when it was lit.

"where have you been all my life?"
Now, THIS is a churchill that I would put up against most any other. Okay, maybe a good Esplendido or Sir Winston, but they're a different kind of good, you know? I had never smoked one of these, and since Bolivar is one of my very favorite habanos, I was very pleasantly surprised when my wife gave me a cab of 50 from MAR-06. I didn't wait to let a handful rest out of the box for a few days or anything, just lit one up as soon as I opened them up. I was and am in love with these now, and what a treat that is...to smoke a cigar you've yet to try, and it ends up so good that it jumps right up near the top of your "best of the best" list. I even was lucky enough to find a second cab from the same batch so I can sit on them. I have smoked over 25 out of the first cab, had one damaged stick that was unsmokable, and had nothing but pleasure from the rest. Full flavored with that highly identifiable Bolivar tang, they are earthy and woody as well as spicey, which I don't usually come across in the same smoke. For being 18 months old, I'm very pleased...I am really getting into the churchill format, It could just be me, but I seem to find a very noticable difference in aging time with this ring gauge. Nothing worse than staring at a box of Sublimes that, due to the 54 ring gauge still have some green-ness to the taste even though they're over 3 years old! If you have not tried this smoke, please do...a box of 50 outstanding churchills for just under 10.00 a stick, to me, is great value. I've nubbed many of these, and what bitterness I could detect came at almost the finger burning length, so I am looking forward to them in 12 months!! BTW, I have smoked these from both the cab and a dress box, and there is a noticable difference in the burn as well as the taste, but the both are due to the packaging. If you can get a cab, I swear you won't be sorry.

"great"
Excellent cigar from 01 in the tube. Best smoked after a good dinner, full bodied and full flavored. Rich earthy typical boli flavors abundant.

"Pleasure? That's an Understatement"
I've rested (most of) two boxes of Corona Gigantes for 13 years. Unlike the perfumey aroma of the recent and wonderful Royal Coronas, the older Bolivars have a totally different aroma--leathery with a little wet hay thrown in. Still rich and peppery, this Bolivar is made of a blend no longer around. Weather, bugs and mold have resulted in hybrid tobacco.

"A big Boli"
Smokey long time, most of my Boli experience has been with the smaller vitola's, pc's, rc's. I had nothing but time one day and I saw this june 03, sitting there and thought what the hey. Cut the cap, toasted the foot and took that first draw, ahhhh that Boli profile. Nice and smooth, well I was gone a good while on this baby. Earthy and hints of other stuff that I'm not astute enough to grasp. Almost 2 hours later I was still smiling. No touchups just lost in boliness.

"Very nice"
I wasn't blown away by this smoke, and at $16 per stick it was not a great value, but I was mostly satisfied overall. It had a very typical Cuban flavor profile with just a little more spice and kick than usual. It grew in intensity as it was smoked, but never became all that strong. All in all, pretty good, but the PC is still my favorite Bolivar.

"Big Boli Flavor"
It was nice to find a 90 minute smoke with the typical Bolivar flavor profile. Deep flavors of earth, wood and nuts, perfect burn, lots and lots of sweet Boli smoke. The '03 seemed to have enough age on it that there was none of that "green-ness" to it any longer. A great smoke for after dinner, lasted a good hour and a half.

"Great Cubano"
Has a taste all it's own to me. Right up there with the best of the best. The secret to all these Cuban sticks is to let them sit and dry out a while and these are no different. The more these Bolivars sit, the better they get, the better they burn and taste.

"JUST YOU WAIT"
THE FIRST COUPLE OUT OF THE BOX (JUN 03) WERE WILD AND GREEN, SOME PROBLEMS WITH UNEVEN BURN AND REAL FIRM DRAW, WHICH LED TO A HARSE SMOKE. NOT TO WORRY, AFTER A YEAR IN THE HUMIDOR I REVISITED AND BOY WHAT A DIFFERANCE. STRONG AND FULL BODIED SMOKE THAT FILLED THE PALATE WITH INTENSE EARTY FLAVORS...NOT FOR THE FAINT AT HEART, AND BEST ENJOYED AFTER A FULL MEAL. LONG FINISH THAT GETS MORE ENJOYABLE RIGHT DOWN TO END

"None Finer--regardless of price"
I've got a nice collection of smokes and can say without hesitation that this is the number-1 Churchill-size cigar in the bunch.
These are from a cabinet of 50--which I feel are superior to the dress-boxes I've also got. They are relatively young (late 03) but even now, are such pleasure-bombs that it's hard to stay away from them.
They are full-bodied and only for "after-dinner." Adhere to that however and you will be treated to something spectacular. The flavors that come from this are no short of spectacular. I enjoy it even more than the Cohiba Esplendido--which are certanly superb cigars in their own right.
Do yourself a favor and splurge for the full cab of these gems. You will not regret it!!

"Flying high"
I smoked this at a halloween party. Took me 90 minutes or so to nub it and when I was done I had a serious nicotine buzz. Nice, strong smoke that became absolutely luscious about half way down. Thick smoke, nice even draw, even burn. A great smoke for when you have time to savor it.

Strong, robust and complex. Best enjoyed with a strong expresso or cappuchino to balance the smoke. My head was literally spinning by the midway point - Definately not for beginners

"Hard to draw"
My box of these dates from '98 and might be part of the boom production problems. While the flavors are excellent, with big bold sweeping expanses of coffee and leather, the construction is questionable. While I rarely find plugs, it's possible the bunches are twisted because almost half of these have been practically impossible to draw without skewering. Powerful and brash, these are cigars for the brave.

"Big boy..."
This was an average cigar at best. I love mild cigars, but this was too mild for my taste. Nice draw, beautiful wrapper, and held together nicely. I had to relight a couple of times which annoyed me, but a cigar this big, I expect it.

"Big Smoke"
This 7 x 47 Cuban-made Churchill is the epitome of big brash Havana parejos and as such is cherished by sophisticated aficionados worldwide. It dark wrapper serves as foreshadowing to the full-bodied flavor it will render on your palate. The smoke is thick enough to chew and hangs heavy in the air. It possesses a complex pungent taste of rich loam and dark roasted espresso with a spicy edge. Its heavy aroma will fill your nostrils with the scent of earth and leather. And with each draw, this cigar will build in strength leaving even the most jaded smoker spent and satisfied by its end. This is a cigar for the experienced connoisseur who not only appreciates, but craves boldness in his cigars - novices need not light.

"Great Cigar"
Not because it's a cuban, but this was a great Cigar. Full bodied and complex. Cocoa at the beginning turning to spice about 1/4 way down, then some oak. Nice dark wrapper, burned even and beautiful white thick ash. I paid about 12.50 per stick and wasn't dissapointed proabably one of the best I have smoked

"Too bad"
Firm draw made this one a difficult one to really taste. It was mostly woody with a flat finish. There was a hint of orange peel at the beginning, but that faded quickly.

"Not for a novice"
A bit rough in appearance, but with very full flavor and full strength. Aromatic and rich tasting, probably the perfect after dinner cigar.
I would have rated this cigar under 9 because of its appearance, but compared to some ratings over 9 for some DR, Nic and others, I have to increase my threshold.

Bolivar Corona Gigantes - 4/98
This was the first Bolivar that I have ever smoked. This is a handsome cigar with a nicely finished cap and a smooth tan wrapper void of veins, blemishes, or soft spots. Firm to the touch.
The draw was on the tight side at the outset, but became quite good about half way through. The light was easy and the burn was a little crooked until a third of the way down.
I was fortunate to smoke one with about 32 months of age on it. Like a Lusinatia I recently smoked, this cigar is not about power. The taste is what I think this cigar is all about.
This Bolivar was a little tight for the first third, and the taste didn't really come through that much. The last two thirds of the smoke was a different story. This Bolivar has a rich full taste and smokes smooth, smooth, smooth. There's a mouth filling, light aromatic wood taste with a little spice. There are other tastes too, but I cannot describe them.
This is one of the best cigars I have ever smoked. The taste is refined. Some cigars today like to "blow you away" with a big, spicy maduro. Big taste, but rough and simple compared to this aged Cuban.
Would I smoke another. You bet, but I'm not sure I can afford a humidor full of these puppies.

Toothy, oily dark wrapper on this medium bodied smoke. Flavors of spice, earth, and wood with a long spicy finish. Good burn but draw much too firm. Not nearly as good as the Royal Corona or Coronas Extra.

One of the top 3 cigars I've ever had. Smooth draw, delightfully nutty, coffee-beany, toasty tastes, wonderfully aromatic smoke. Chocolate/coffee aftertaste that stays with you in a most pleasant way. I'd smoke these every day if money were no object.
