"fool's gold?"
Don't bother. Tight draw and watery taste can't be made up for by the very nice aroma. Burn was near perfect, only requiring one minor touch. If you like the Gold blend, go with the maduro for much more flavor.

"Looks great, smokes okay"
Aesthetically impressive: smooth wrapper, no discolorations, just minor veins, packed tightly with tobacco and no stems in the foot. Excellent construction, easy draw with lots of smoke from both ends and a straight burn. The CAO website says “smooth buttery flavor laced with vanilla, cream and nutmeg.” I’ll give them the buttery flavor, and the finish did have hints of cream. But for the most part, this was a one-dimensional stick. Pleasant, but no complexity to speak of. No vanilla, no nutmeg. To its credit, it was an extremely consistent cigar: just toasty nuts from ignition to nub. Short finish, definitely mild in strength but rather medium in body.

"Not Quite Gold"
Not Bad, but certainly not the best of the line. I enjoyed the CAO Gold Robusto much more. This is still an above average cigar that is great for those times where you want mild but also flavor. The buttery-vanilla taste of this line comes through, though not as in the robusto. The burn and draw are CAO excellent and because it's so pretty, you're proud to show this stick off as you sport around town. It's also a very good companion to an adult beverage, if you are so inclined.

"Good smoke"
I get these at the local shop down the road and these are a nice mild smoke. Most of these sticks burn consistently but some do canoe a bit at times. Mild taste with hints of cream, caramel & spice and sometimes leaves a itch to the throat. The binder is nice with very few flaws or veins. I would NOT recommend this cigar to people who enjoy a medium or higher bodied cigar, but if you enjoy mild cigars like I do from time to time or looking for a good starter cigar and then CAO Gold would be a good choice.

"CAO Gold Maduro"
This is a review of the Gold Maduro, since they don't have a separate listing for that brand (it's relatively new). It should be noted that I'm still something of a rookie when it comes to maduros.

I bought a box of these, and this was the first that I've smoked. They came through the mail, and I figured they should rest awhile in my humidor after their trip. I probably should have let them soak a little longer, but I was impatient to try one. So I took this one out after two and half weeks and lit it up. It was a little harsh when first lit, but smoothed out quickly. The draw was fine and the burn was fairly even, but the ash broke twice at just an inch. It was well constructed, although they could have been a little bit more generous with the cap. The flavor was pretty much straight forward tobacco flavor with some earth and peat flavors. At times I thought I tasted nutmeg, but if I did it was just a hint. There were a couple of spots in the stick where I hit a pocket of really creamy, slightly coffee flavored smoke. The aftertaste wasn't bad at all. It didn't blow me away, but I think if I let them sit a little longer it will prove to be money well spent.

"Not bad..."
...though definitely not as good as the CAO Gold double coronas that I bought. This had a grassier flavor that wasn't as smooth and the smoke was definitely more acrid. A decent mild/morning smoke, this one definitely requires some aging to make it a truly good smoke.

"A Plain Average Cigar ... Not Quite Worth $5"
I bought these on a nice special a few years back, 10 glass tube Churchill CAO Gold for $20.
I do not believe they are normally sold tubed, this was just a one time special. I am glad I didn't pay the current asking price of $4-$5. It is well rolled, good draw. A nice, golden wrapper, with quite a few veins. Started off very tasty for the first inch, then mellowed out into a rather boring, mild straight-forward tobacco flavor. Perhaps just the teeniest hint of bread dough, if one uses the imagination. It was creamy and smooth. It is not a bad cigar, but rather bland. There are better cigars out there at this price range. I would not buy more at the price that they are going for. But I will smoke the rest of the batch I have. Just a plain, average to fairly good cigar.

"Yes!!"
Most of my experience with CAO sticks has not been good. But the Gold Churchill was outstanding. Great mellow taste that Josh, below me, has summed up perfectly. Cinnamon, spice, pears, and even som banana. Excellent burn, perfect draw, and good appearance. One of my all-time favorite mild cigars, now. They hit a homer with this one, and at $5.25, It's a great deal. Got a little funky tasting on the last 1/5, but it was still tasty and the other 4/5 definitely more than made up for it.

"Great Mild Cigar"
Probably the best mild cigar I've ever had. While it is mild, I wouldn't categorize it as super mild. This cigar is great as a churchill. Great for when you have time for a long smoke, but not in the mood for something strong. Great smoke

"My vacation smoke"
Brought a box of these to Key West with my fiance. A well constructed, smooth, creamy cigar that teases you with notes of cinnamon, cedar, and even a little pear.

The draw was silky smooth and the burn was even. It's not an overtly powerful cigar, but it is complex in it's own subtle way. They have a permanent home in my humidor.

"Pretty mild"
This one has some good things going for it-nice, even, consistent burn, good draw, easy light. But...just not a lot of flavor, and frankly kind of weak for a churchill. There was a little nice flavor coming out at about 1/3 of the way with some cocoa and coffee hints, and then they disappeared. Not bad if you want a smooth smoke only, but not very flavorful.

Nice looking, mild cigar. Good amount of wood.cream.caramel flavor to keep it interesting though. No burn or draw problems at all. A nice weekend morning smoke. At $5 (or less) a good buy.

"Agree...Very mild, but still a C.A.O.!!!!!"
I thoroughly enjoyed this smoke. It started with a toasty, cedary taste, and a hint of pepper. However, approximately 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through, it developed a mellow, creamy flavor that made it hard to put in the ash tray. It had a great appearance, and an equally great draw. It had a long, even burn,...as I smoked it from the beginning of halftime, to the end of overtime, during the Ravens/Steelers game. While I agree that it is a bit mild for my taste, I have to believe that it is one of the best 5$, mild cigars on the market. I would recommend it to beginners.. to get them hooked on cigars.

"Mild and pleasent"
This cigar is very mild, but it does hold enough flavor to keep you interested. I prefer a more full bodied smoke though. This is one that I enjoyed at a BBQ w/ a Guinness. A Bud light would have been just a good with this one. This was my third one to have and I'll say they are consistant from one to another. I got these in a sampler and won't seek anymore. Just too mild for me. Now I do have a CAO Brazilia GOL! looking very tempting in my humi. That looks more my style! I suggest this for a Saturday morning smoke while reading the WHOLE newspaper.

"Disappointing, sad to say"
I am a avid fan of CAO so I am sad to say that I was not impressed. It had a raw, sharp, biting sort of flavor. I beleive I just got a bad one, so I'm not ready to bash this cigar as a whole.

"Anytime cigar"
This cigar strikes the perfect balance of smooth ,creamy and some spice to keep it interesting.I can smoke one of these at 8am or 8pm and enjoy it. Also I think this is a great summer smoke that burns cool and smooth on hot days when cold drinks and moderate smokes are a better choice.

"Disappointing cigar"
The first CAO that I have tried that I did not like. Good construction but flavor was green, herbal, weedy, and sharp. A totally unsatisfying smoke. I really expected better from one of the best cigar companies around. A waste of $5.00.

"Decent"
This is a good mild cigar. To me though mild means less flavor -- there's nothing mind-blowing here. But if you just want a mellow, mild smoke, this one is very well constructed. It's comparable to an Avo, but less expensive.
