"more proof that cubans are the best"
a fine cigar, flavors of cocoa, choc, cedar and beauty. the wrapper is a light brown in color. a cigar with a medium kick, tha ash is white and the burn is like a fish tail.its winter now i'm on the deck with a patio heater and a fine cigar,
another great smoke. lift the embargo now. let freedom reign in cuba on cuba cigars and rum.

"WOW!"
What a smoke! My first Diplomaticos an glad I bought an entire box. So smooth and never harsh with amazing flavor! Beautuful dark wrapper. Construction was not the best and it needed a few touch ups during the smoke... but I always smoke the ugliest ones first and let the perfect ones age, so it may have just been the one cigar. All the rest look great. The Dip is sold online at medium-full but I think it is more mild-medium. The No. 2 is number 1 in my book!

"Nice."
This one was gifted to me, my first Dip. It was really, really good. Medium bodied, a few subtle flavor changes, perfect construction and burn. It must have had a few years on it too, because I nubbed that thing down to 1" and never got even a hint of harshness or ammonia. Fantastic smoke.

Smoked one last night the first from a 25's box.Very good construction, nice feel and oily, subtle aromas. The draw and burn were fine and the flavour..well,Diplomaticos although not as pronounced as #4 which is my favourite. Smoked one of these big boys at a party new years eve,i aged two of them for 4 months.they looked great.wrapper was flawless, aroma intoxicating, upon light up i was taken aback by how smooth it was, mild to medium strength, plenty of smoke and a firm white-ish ash.A real treat to smoke, sat around a campfire, drinking scotch, and lots of laughs made this bad boy even better.

I did not get any of the tastes like the other guys described. Thsi seemed to be a very strong cigar to me. Strong wood tastes and some deep dark chocolate. Burn and ash were great. Flavors were ok, just not what the others here have described. Maybe I got a bad one or someone switched the bands around. Who knows..Looked liike a million bucks.

"Youth"
This attractive torpedo with box code DEB May '06 comes enrobed in a Colorado wrapper with medium veining and no apparent tooth. The triple cap is present, as is the distinctive barnyard aroma that belies its origins. Solid construction without soft spots. Easy light. Slightly uneven burn that auto-corrected without the need for relights. Good draw. Gray-black ash.

Started with green wood and a vegetal flavor. The first third saw notes of wood, mild nuts, and toast. I also detected nuances of paint thinner, but thankfully this detraction was fleeting. The middle third brought more mild wood, which combined with a toasted tobacco and barnyard hay medley that underscored a noticeable and familiar “Cuban twang”. The last third was more of the same, excepting a fleeting note of menthol.

All in all, this one hour 10 minute medium-bodied smoke was youthful but vibrant. It’s flavors were immature and disjointed, but the potential was clearly there.

"Great mild Habanos"
Purchased a box with a late 05 box code. I've smoked 5 of them so far and have really enjoyed them all. This is a very consistent and tasty cigar, with creamy cocoa and coffee flavors. It won't kick you on your arse like other cuban torps or beli's. Overall this is my favorite mild stick from Habanos.

"Good smoke"
This 6” x 48 slightly box-pressed torpedo with box code ARA Nov '00 is draped in a mottled brown wrapper with minimal veins. Solid construction without soft spots. Easy light. Super smooth draw. Fairly even burn without the need for relights or corrections. Gray-black ash. Started with wood and spice. The first third was a medley of leather, strong wood, leather, and tobacco with a tannic quality that was noticeable. There were slight hints of black cherry and even a touch of orange peel. The familiar Cuban “twang” was prominent. The middle third saw a transformation of the strong woody flavor into more of a milder, sweeter wood with nuances of citrus and cardamom. A menthol flavor started to develop by the end of this third. The menthol flavor intensified in the last third, and became somewhat bitter by the end. All in all, this medium-bodied, one-hour 20 minute smoke was enjoyable, particularly in the initial 2/3’s.

"Dip 2 is a thrill"
Can't buy a thrill? Whoever said that (Donald - Walter?) did not have the Diplomaticos No. 2 in mind. Box FJN ENE05 smoking great now. Smooth, nutty, almost caramel like flavor with great burn, long ash that does not want to leave. Nice cigar to add to the growing list of fine Habanos to choose from depending upon ones meal and beverage of choice. Not a powerhouse, like a Bolivar Belicoso Finos for example, but a fine, smooth, medium bodied smoke.

Nice mild cigar, with creamy taste which reminded me of a Sancho Panza Beli with a little age. The draw was a bit tight and it didn't produce as much smoke as I like. The burn was straight, the flavor was pleasant if not a bit too mild, a nice cigar but there are certainly better for this price.

"Wonderful"
A great smoke! This attractive torpedo with box code ARA 9/01 was wrapped with a smooth milky brown wrapper with minimal veins. Solid construction without soft spots. Easy light, smooth draw, and even burn without the need for corrections or relights. Gray-black ash. Started with cedar and mild wood. The first third then brought notes of mild tobacco, paper and sharp cedar flavor that was more "biting" than was first encoutered on the initial light. The middle third brought a medley of leather, mild spice, and floral notes with a hint of black licorice. The last third continued with floral notes as well as nuts and wood. On the whole, the first third seemed a bit restrained, but the cigar opened up at the midway point and bcame a wonderfully complex medium bodied smoke. The experience lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. Bought a box!

"Torpedo Topper"
Well now, after smoking more than half a box of 25 from the April 2001 production (in '05), and comparing them to the several I had smoked form the same box in 2002, I think it is a crime NOT to age these as long as you can! I of course would recommend aging any stick you smoke for at least a year, there is quite a bit of difference with these when exceeding that mark. Much much more flavor then the Upmanns, I won't compare them to Monte 2s because the flavor profiles are too different, but I would choose the D2 over any other Torp. out there by far!

I've only had about a half dozen out of a 10 pack, but I'm clearly a candidate for a box or two. They may be a tad mild on the cuban scale, but they're incredibly smooth, spicy sweet and loaded with a creamy twangy character that partly defines the distinction between cuban smokes and all else.

"Dreamy Smoke"
I have smoked a couple since last review and these are a must try if you are looking for a nice cuban torpedo. I don't drink the Kool-Aid regarding the Monty #2! Quality control issues make it an unreliable smoke for your hard earned dollar. Diplo#2 is earthy sweetness that compliments stout beer. Great burn and top notch construction. My second box has a lighter wrapper, almost carmel. They are not fakes but wondering. Anyone know what's up with that?

"A passing grade"
I was excited about smoking this cuban because of all the rants and raves this cigar received. The sample I had had a water mark, but that's the only flaw I detected. Surprised that it was not as strong as others suggested, and the flavor though kind of weak was nice. It tastes sort of like mushrooms. I would say the body was medium. However, overall I was slightly disappointed. I mean if you are the type that only smoke cubans (and/or want to be known that you do) then I suggest the PSD#4 or HU Magnum46. Now those are tremendous smokes. I'll give a luke warm recommendation for the Diplomatica #2 but there are a lot better and cheaper non-cuban smokes if you consider knocking that cuban chip off your shoulders.

"Awesome!"
Outstanding smoke! This seemingly benign-appearing torpedo packs a serious amount of flavor. Slightly rough brown wrapper with medium veins. Perfect construction with an easy light and smooth draw. Started with mild wood and cocoa and transitioned into a rich, complex, medium- to full-bodied taste with hints of nuts, vanilla, and tobacco. VERY creamy smoke. Lasted just over an hour. The guy I was sitting next to at my local B&M kept asking me to allow the smoke to waft over to his direction because this thing smelled SO DAMN GOOD!! This is one of those cigars that makes you stop whatever it is your doing, look down at it, and just allow yourself to "take it all in". The best Cuban I've had to date.

...I'm 10 and I'm proud Some odd 80 different cigar ratings and I finally have a perfect 10! I got a flavor rush upon the initial light up. Tasty, Tasty, Tasty! Insane razor straight burn, and a chalky white ash to boot. Attractive redish brown wrapper. My cigar looked like a smooth clay mold. Complex to the point I could not even isolate any one flavors. It was a pure joy trying to figure this out down to the nub. Once I started tasting hints of flesh, I realized there was nothing left but my fingers to smoke. (j/k) Easy draw, long finsih, and full bodied. My box was sub $200.00! I can't wait to enjoy these over the next few years.

This is ny first box of Diplomaticos I've ever bought, or even tried. The D2 is a superb specimen of a torpedo, and it's everything I want in Cuban cigar...strenth, (this has plenty), character, (has it in spades, and, of course great construction, burn and draw. The D2 has more strength than the Monte No. 2, and although my box is very young, (MFC Nov 04) they exhibit a load of character. The complexity of the smoke is terrific, and it is some of the richest tobacco flavors I've had. I have founf a new favorite in theis vitola, which is saying a lot, as there are many very good Habanos Torpedos.

"Good not great"
I have no idea on the box code of this cigar, as I pulled it from a box pass. The cap was well made and wrapper had a nice carmel color with few veins. The draw was easy and the burn was even. The ash was lighter than I was expecting for a Cuban. The flavor was dominated by a creamy white toast flavor with some under currents that were hard to pin down until I read an old review and thought BINGO, mushrooms. It's the first time I have come across a cigar with the flavor profile. I am not sure if I would revisit it or not.

"rebuttal"
Wrapper is a bit veiny, otherwise a medium bodied complex palate experience. I am on my second box and: 1) overpriced? to me a Mercedes Benz is overpriced, but not a corvette, 2) uneven burn? this is problematic with all cubans (some cohiba excepted), 3) lacks Cuban character & complexity? I believe what sets this cigar apart is its Cuban character & complexity, thats why it received a CA 91 rating. 4) lastly, soft in the middle? Yes I am, but I still enjoy this cigar greater than the previous reviews.

This was a very good smoke, but overpriced. Looks tasty, although not as oily or dark as I was hoping it might be. The flavors were the classic Cuban leather/coffee, unmistakeable. A very good smoke, but priced for greatness, so I'll pass in the future.

"Meets expectations"
The Dip #2 smokes in accordance with the previous reviews. A great looking cigar. Sweet creamy smooth flavor is consistent from start to end. Burns fairly well. Mild to medium bodied. Will smoke more!!!

"Nice Flavor, mild taste"
I was surprised to see a very high rating for this cigar in Cigar Aficionado Magazine.
Though it is a nice flavored cigar with pleasant flavor and appealing appearance with dark oily wrapper, it got kind of soft/porous by the mid smoke. In spite of some fragrant tones and pleasant flavor, it was mild and lacked Cuban character and complexity. MC #2 still beats this one. A cigar for a Cuban novice smoker.

"Mild Cuban?"
Very different tasting cuban..mild bodied with good flavor, and minimal harshness. The draw was slightly on the firmer side, but not uncomfortable, and plenty of smoke. Not easily found, and a unique pleasant Cuban.

"Wish it were stronger."
A good solid looking cigar, felt a little soft in spots and burned unevenly. Good flavor with a mild finish. Wish it were stronger.

This "Piramide" vitola, is beautiful to the eye with its dark brown colorado maduro capa and moderate box press. Very flavorful and medium strength smoke that sets this cigar in a league with H.Upmann #2 and Montecristo #2.

This lost smoke is the best cuban I have ever smoked.
It is rich and has a nice sheen to the wrapper. The draw
is perfect and what an explosion in your mouth of leather
