"Kissed by Father Time"
Take this review with a grain of salt since the box I have is from March 2004. These were never bad but only smoked 2-3 per year since I got them but lately I am running through them at a crazy pace. Big solid sticks with an ideal draw and great performance. The once erratic flavors are now a cohesive blend that is balanced and progressive from light to nub. Admittedly I have no real idea what they are like out of the box right now but can state that they age wonderfully and are an incredible value.

"inconsistent but good"
I've bought a few 5 packs each year for the last 3 or so years. They are an excellent value, but the construction and flavor vary from mediocre to excellent, lately it's been the prior on both counts.

"Loose Draw -- Too Bad"
This cigar isn't what it once was, as far as I am concerned. Evidence of past glory is still present with complex flavor, but the construction of the cigars from the last few boxes has been terrible. The draw is very, very loose, and the cigars seem terribly underfilled. This was for years a cigar I considered hands down to be Villazon's best. A big disappointment.

"disappointing"
I Keep the ERdM robusto in my humi and am usually a fan of the line. I had high hopes for the Salado given the reviews of my friends. I found it to be a rather bland smoke, not rich, not smooth and some what bitter on the finish. I tried 5 of these before I made up my mind. It's OK but nothing to impress with. I dont understand all the hype.

"Sleeper of the ERDM Line"
Just as my review earlier last month, but better. Construction was perfect with all characteristics as the llaneza, but with a textured taste. I am not sure how ERDM does it, but it is wonderful.

"This is a Sleeper"
Big oily dark stick with similar characteristics of the Partagas Black with that grainy peppery taste but with more complexity. Perfect burn all the way to the nub. Well worth the money.

"disappointed"
I bought a five pack of these for a decent price, and was excited to try them. Although they're pretty veiny, they're still good looking cigars: big, dark, and oily. After smoking a few of them, I have to admit that I find the taste only so-so. Pretty generic cigar taste with an occasionally unpleasant bitter twang. The aroma of the cigar is actually nicer than than the taste--in fact, I wish the sweet scent would've translated to some sort of dark, chocolatey taste in the smoke, but no such luck. I noticed some construction issues too, including some lumpiness and hollow spots.

"Great Cigar"
I am a big fan of the El Rey brand. The choice of sizes and the quality that goes into them make them, in my opinion, the best value in cigars. This toro is no different.

"exquisite"
I bought a sampler pack, and was very satisfied. Lots of smoke, easy burn, good taste, and tight ash. I was gonna share these at a golf outing, but maybe not.

"Great cigar - excellent value"
Smokes great with a mostly even burn and I have had no wrapper problems. The flavor is very good from beginning to end. Good right out of the box and getting even better as they age a little. A STAPLE for my humi. Great value from JR (I buy the 5 packs).

"Best value on earth"
Tight draw, very full meaty flavor, not harsh at all - burns uneven at times, but all in all this is the best cigar I have smoked, and is my personal 'old faithful'. Looks great, feels great - a must in my humidor, a very satisfying smoke!

"Solid cigar"
Nice looking cigar, reminds me of the LGCR5. Prelight draw is rich, starts off pretty mild though, after an inch things pick up and the cigar starts to show some medium-mild but somewhat complex flavors. Burn and draw on the pair that I smoked were perfection.

"Outstanding value"
The Reserva Salado is among the best cigars I've tasted regardless of price. And since I can get these on the web for around $13 for 5 that makes this cigar a no-brainer. It is consistently well made, the strength varies a little from full to medium bodied, and it burns forever. Can't go wrong with this one.

"Ahhh what might have been!"
A great looking cigar with a flavor to match! It was medium in body with a toasty flavor and hints of creamy sweetness. Could have been one of my all time favorites, but it developed burn problems, and I had to leave it way before I wanted to. Such a shame!
