Excalibur by HDM No. I

I have been smoking these for a long time and very rarely get one with a bad draw etc. JR cigar sells a 5 pack for like $21 something plus tax. You won't find a better cigar for the money. Very smooth goes good with coffee also.

I want to preface this by saying I am very new to smoking cigars so if you read this and decide to buy or not I would read more. Also keep in mind I have only a couple of cigars from Cuban Crafters to compare this to.

Burn - Slow and even through the entire cigar.
Ash - Bright white
Draw - Easy and not hot
Taste - I never taste the flavors that other claim, but I l know it was not bitter like some of the CC I have tries.

Top of the cigar is very mild, 1/4 way down flavors start to come out but stays very mild. Half way through it picks up the punch but not bitter. The last 1/4 it got a little bitter but did not have a hot taste to it all.

I will smoke this cigar again, but have a A LOT more to try first.

This is one very classy smoke. Very smooth excellent construction with a good ash and very straight burn for such a long smoke. The draw was very good and it has a very nice aroma. It's a shade light of med in body and has very nice toasted nuts and sweet flowers lol. Kind of like smoking a spring field of flowers, ok not quite that floral, but good none the less. If you like this one try the maduro version, I think it's a bit better.

Probably, for the money, one of the best cigars you can afford. Also, a great cigar for the golf course.

The No. 1 is the flagship of the HdM line, and justifiably so. This cigar sums up the brand nicely. Good construction, consistency and solid flavor make this a go-to choice.

After reading several reviews and being a fan of mild-medium body, I tried a single No.1. There is no doubt I will be returning to my local shop for a box. Excellent smooth flavor from start to finish. I enjoyed this cigar on the patio with a nice glass of wine and after 1 hour of relaxtion, I still had a 1/4 of the cigar to go. Even burn, beautiful look and feel...can not beat the No.1 at this price and difficult to replace at any price.

I have only been smoking cigars for a year with my buddies here at school. We became interested in them and have researched to find what cigars people really enjoy. After seeing this cigar mentioned I bought one. The cigar is incredibly smooth and is long enough that the smoke is cool by the time it gets to your mouth. The thing burns forever and for the price you get more than you pay for. The taste is great also and stays great the whole time. I will definately keep buying this one. One thing my buddies and I found out about a good cigar is that to us it makes a can of Coke incredibly refreshing and this one really does just that.

As a newbie, this was my 1st cigar of this size. This was the Daddy of an Excalibur #1 thru #4 sampler that I ordered from JR for $15. It was a nice smooth stick that I savored for almost 2 hours and got better as as smoked it. It had an easy draw, even burn, well constucted and looked as good as it tasted.

Had always thought this cigar was over rated but tried a box and now on my second one. This is a nice looking big butt cigar. It is an even burner and nice draw. Construction has sme issues the wrapper is so thin the caps and bodies tend to split even when maintained in a quality humidor. Other than that I like tis cigar. Flavors are mild to medium with hints of nuts and mild spice and cream. Itsa decent buy.

Enjoyed with an iced tea after lunch. Nice smooth medium bodied smoke offering wheaty, toasty flavors with light sweet floral notes and just enough bite. A sophisticated smoke.

I have been smoking the No. ! for well over 10 years. One of the top Cigars period. Nice flavor, even burn good finish. I am partial to the EMS wrapper.

The #1 is by far my all time favorite cigar. great construction, perfect draw, long ash, nutty flavor. More enjoyable than many cigars at 2-3 times the price. You cant be disappointed. unlike the last the review i have never found anything missing with this one.

well constructed with even burn. nice draw and aroma. A fine medium cigar. The only draw back that I found to it is that it seemed to be missing something. Can't tell you what I it was, but it left me not as completely satisfied as an R & J.

Hated for this one to end, full of peppery flavor from beginning to end, smooth as silk draw, even burn throughout, my second one of these and both were great, will be purchasing a box of these.....a must try cigar.

This is absolutely one of the best tasting cigars on the market at any price; it is a must have "go to gar" for any humidor. Rich, creamy, smooth. Thorougly enjoyable. Excellent and economical.

This cigar is always in my humidor. Its the first premium cigar i tried and i havent stopped smoking them since.

Love to smoke this on the links. Keep trying other BIG cigars 7.25 x 54 but I keep coming back to the Excalibur. It's always got a great draw and burn and the flavor is ummm , full of chocolate and nuts... Can't go wrong with this cigar.

I have not found a better medium bodied cigar for the money! This stick is simply fabulous, puts a big smile on my face. I smoked a couple of these and turned right around and bought a box. Well constructed, beautiful ash, lots of smoke, creamy flavor. My mouth is watering thinking about smoking the next one. Definetly recommend this one.

Love this stick! hints of vanilla, cream, and one smooth tasting cigar. I have tried many others and I always go back to this one for a great smoke. Try it with a single malt scotch, oh baby!!!!

I've spent all summer smoking these and just finished a box and I simply cannot think of a better deal available. This cigar is firm with an easy draw and sports a beautiful golden wrapper. The flavor smacks of nuts, chocolate and a natural sweetness which reminds me of coconut. It is also very consistent as I cannot think of a single bad sample from the box of 20. Due to its huge size (7x54) it burns forever. All for less than $80.00 per box. No wonder it was on back order when I checked my favorite cigar website last week.

Man, I smoked this one to the nub and wanted more. Wonderful construction, smooth draw all the way. Relatively mild taste that never got harsh evan at the end. I'm buying a box.

What I like best about this cigar is its big size, firmness and beautiful golden wrapper. It is mild to medium bodied with an easy draw and even burn. There is some grassiness and a bit of harshness but for the price I'll be buying more of these. Almost as good as the new Montecristo White Churchill at about half the price.

I really did not care for this cigar at all, it had an awkward taste and texture the burn was jagged no matter how hard I tried and the flavor was like a pine tree wrapped in tar.

very good cigar, smoke it from the beginning to the very end. for big occasion. this big boy is a must in your humidor.

This "golden" wrapped stick was worth it's weight... Great look, perfect draw, and even burn producing an inch long white ash. The flavor was slightly "grassy", but pleasing and consistent throughout. Recommend.

This cigar was poorly constructed and the draw was too tight. Didn't even get through half of the cigar before giving up. It was not an enjoyable experience. This was a surprise given the ratings it had received.

definetely the best I have smoked. Full of flavor excelent burn, beautiful construction. This is the real thing. I would smoke this cigar over any cuban cigar that I have smoked before.

Even as big as it is, I wanted it to last longer. Smooth, rich, and great flavor. Most cigars this size would grow tiresome, but not this one, I smoke them to the nub. A $10 cigar for $3.50, what more do you want?

You can't find more delightful cigar. The Excalibur will always please you. It is great for guys who like to have a cigar night once or twice a week. Great flavor, and nice aroma. You need a very good humidor to maintain this big cigar. So, if you don't have a good humidor I advice you not to buy a whole box.

Flavorful and well constructed. Has the propensity to be harsh in some spots towards the end and a little tight in construction. Beats other significantly more expensive cigars.

By far my favorite Honduran, it's never let me down. Great chocolate and coffee tastes, burns well, and always available. Definitely a mainstay.

This smoke is picture perfect. creamy skin, long and shapley, what a beauty to adore. taste is mild to med, slight spice. prefer the maduros more robust flavor though.

An impressive looking cigar. Not as flavorful as you might expect. Still a top notch smoke.

The first half tasted like grass and although there were some aroma present in the second half, the grassy taste remained dominant. Looks good but the taste ruins it.

This has been my favorite cigar for many years; I have had the opportunity to smoke all of the top brands, this one remains my favorite.

I've been smoking these since 1973. I have tried many brands during thta time period. I keep coming back to the old classic. It is a great cigar or any occassion. They did go down in quality some during the mid 90's, but have been back strong ever since.

Being a "new" cigar smoker and
favoring a mild smoke, I didn't know if this cigar would overpower me. I found it to be very smooth and flavorful. I found that I didn't want it to end.

Just the thing for a quiet evening with a good video and a glass of 12-year old scotch.

A very good, consistant cigar. The taste was perfect at the start but grew much stronger once lit.
