Maduro does not seem to be Montecristos strong side.

"If you have smoked one of these...."
Then you've been had. There was no Monte Limitada Released in '01. Bring em back to the shop you got it and get your money back. Collective experience on this site does not always equate to accuracy.

"Disappointing"
That's a relatively low price on tha sucker. yUP! That's because I smoked one from an original box of 2001 that I personally aged!
When these came out I was horribly excited. Had the Millinium Jar & thought these might be a similar blend, which THEY ARE NOT.
I do not believe that the EL wrapper works very well with the MC blend. Heck, I recently had a Petit Edmundo (last week) that I thought
smoked better than the MC Robusto i had 2 days ago!
It's a beautiful cigar that looks very nice, burns real well, and is wonderful in many ways. But flavor & character, IMO, are not what this cigar should be known for. Had waaaay to many that were disappointing. They just don't come around like they should.

"Excellent ..."
Rolled tightly packed like a rock. If it wasn't a Cuban Monte, I would have reached for the "Draw-Poker," but the draw was excellent. Smooth and oily, dark brown, slightly reddish wrapper, with some thin veins. Medium body and buttery smooth, not a trace of being harsh. Slightly uneven burn, not enough to cause any problems though. Wood and bakery type spices abound. Hardly any tobacco flavor, it was almost like smoking a pastry. (LOL) Stayed very consistent in flavor through the entire smoke. Also, seemed to get milder and smoother the further I smoked it down. An extra value point for the fact that it is smokeable down to a nub. A fine cigar in it's own right, but I prefer and believe the MC #2 is a bit better. But by all means, if you have the opportunity, give one of these a try.

"Very Nice"
Had one in Vienna over lunch and enjoyed it very much. The burn was a little uneven, but nothing a little attention couldn't rectify.

"Mid range"
This is a typical cuban. Better than most other countries cigars, but not something the locals go to much. Just way to mild to challenge an experienced smoker to decipher the flavors. Otherwise, it looked and burned like a cuban master's cigar.

"Very good cigar - but hard to find"
Looked for 3 months before finding one - in London. Was very good, and belongs in top 25, but I liked the Especial #2 a little better.

"Surprisingly Mellow"
This was a beautiful cigar; very dark and oily. It produced tons of thick, blue-grey smoke and a nice grey ash. The draw and burn were both perfect. The flavor was remarkably smooth and mellow. I was expecting a kick from such a dark cigar, but I guess that's why you don't judge books by their covers. All in all, a great experience, but I would have liked more spice to the flavor. It had some cocoa, light coffee, and red meat, (towards the end), but not much complexity. Still, a great smoke!

"Montecristo Cuban Robusto"
Excellent cigar - one of the best. Strong to medium strong flavor. Smoked it down to the point I was burning by fingers.

"Great!"
One of my favorite Monte's. Hard to find nowadays but the flavor is richly delicious. Chocolate and wood flavors mingle throughout and it gets a little spicy near the end. A definite classic and one of the highest rated Monte's I've had.

"Marvelous"
The best Montecristo I have smoked to date. From the looks of'er I could tell I was in for a treat. Nice dark brown oily wrapper. This thing was slick...I though it might slide out from my fingers. I clipped the cap and toasted the foot and took a whiff. An aroma escaped reminiscent of home cooking. The burn got off to a bad start but righted itself within minutes. I've noticed Montes have a very recognizable sweet spot and sure enough about 1 1/2 inches in this baby really took off...most impressive. It's almost like the whole blend changed at that point and carried on consistently throughout the whole mid-section of the cigar. It's that 2 inch stretch that makes this cigar special. The taste was marvelous the whole way through and never once got unpleasant. After the initial burn problem she smoked beautifully and the ash held firm. Between the nicotine and the Panamanian coffee I was drinking (good match), I was amped. This robusto was a finger burner and I didn't want to let'er go. A Cuban that lives up to it's reputation.

"Perfection"
Darker than a murderer’s heart, this cigar was so seductive with its luscious, flawless wrapper that I had to pluck it from the box. The smooth, maduro colored wrapper had practically invisible veins, and the twin bands slid off smoothly revealing only one tiny imperfection in the wrapper – an oval wrinkle like a small puckered scar. The cap was perfect and once clipped the cigar exhibited a resistant draw.
Slow to toast and light, the smoke poured forth, coating my mouth with a rich mixture of hazelnut and creme. Nutmeg and other delectable spices filled out the flavor profile, and the signature fermented loam provided the earthy background. The finish was impressive, offering a lingering, slightly tart and nutty sensation with a hint of varnish. The cigar burned slowly and steadily lasting well over an hour. A nice light ash fell away after a couple of inches to reveal a slightly ragged tip, and the cigar was so oily I swear I could hear it quietly sizzle as I puffed.
I enjoyed this cigar with a classic Havana Club Anejo ron with a few clear ice cubes and a twist around the rim and the pairing was perfect. Around the magical halfway mark there was in intense burst of cocoa and dark roasted coffee mixed with peppery spices that was amazing. This cigar was so good I wanted to chew on it. It was a solid stick with impressive heft, and produced a spicy aroma full of warmth, in a word, comfortable.
Overall this was a truly epic cigar. A classic stout and robust example of Cuban perfection. I covet the remainder of the box and will enjoy them on holidays and other special occasions for years to come. Run; don’t walk to get your hands on some of these. Highly recommended.

"Intense Cigar"
Strong and intense flavor with a complex spicey taste. It sends my head spinning towards the end and I usually regret not putting it out sooner but you just don't want to stop.

"A truly unique yet deligthful experience"
PERFECT construction and appearance. Smoothest drawing cigar ever smoked. Dynamic medium cigar with strong finish. Ideal for those who enjoy a woody/cedery and dry tasting cigar. Only complaint was that smoke was a bit too chary for personal liking. Aside from that, a very unique and satisfying cigar.

"Bronze Medal"
I would rate this Robusto as # 3 after RJ LE and Cohiba R.
Very Monte Cristo cigar - like mini me of MC DC. Well known Cuban twang, intense flavor, alluring aroma, long finish. Good, very good.

Nice brown shade wrapper which burned well. The flavor became better the longer you smoke this beauty. Full of complexities with a pleasant aroma. Hints of coffee, nuts, leather, and a bit of spice. A Gem!

"Great kid on the Block"
This is the new, true powerhouse Habanos has to offer. Bought 3 boxes (Sep.01, Nov.01, Feb 02) The best ones came from Nov. 01. Deep, rich, strong and loaded with flavor. To say this cigar is "woodsy and earthy with more than a hint of toasted nuts" would never do it justice. Each mouthful of smoke gets richer and more satisfying than previous. Ill leave it to Marvin and his team to disertain the full range of flavor.
