"It a live saver on a bad afternoon"
This is cigar is a work of art. Beautifully constructed and its taste is simply haven. Its start with cream and coffee and end with fine leather. I suspect good cigar needs time to age and mine is simple wonderful.

"not bad"
Around 3 years of age on this one. Uneven dark wrapper gave this cigar a nice, rough appearance. This was a really dark wrapper for a Cuban. The body changed more than the taste did, so I wouldn't consider it complex in a traditional sense, but it was interesting. Tasted of spice.soil.leather.pepper and of course had the Monte thing going on. Draw was perfect and the burn, while a little off, never got in the way. A bit on the expensive side but overall quite nice.

"wonderful"
Hard to go wrong with a Monte, I was pleased with all aspects of this fine cigar. Smooth even draw, lots of flavor, construction was flawless. Wonderful experience to say the least.

"Worth the wait"
I finally got a box of these EL's from '03...I have smoked a few in the past, and really liked them, but have been looking to find a box that was under $500.00, cheapskate that I am. I am surprised at the disparity of the reviews here, as I think these are very good cigars. Consrtuction, draw, burn, appearance, and most of all flavor. Med-full in flavor and pretty strong, nice spiceiness (not too much) and earthy (a bit more) with nice leather and wood notes. The finish is long and strong and smacks of wood, mostly cedar. I hate to ever say this, but I sure hope the rest of the reviewers here were smoking the same cigar I was!

"cigar art"
this is art in cigar making. i have seen better looking construction and the draw is a bit restricted, but the flavors of this cigar is to die for. it starts off smooth, mild, and sweet, but the flavor builds as you smoke. the second third is medium, the last third is full. a hint of harshness at the 2 inch area that then goes away as you smoke it to a nub. the size is perfect, you dont usually get this level of quality and satisfection in this size, but when you do it is a joy to smoke. my review after smoking 3, i am in love with this one, will buy more. a different animal from the regular montecristos, much milder and smoother. price i paid of $10.00/stick is the bargain of all time on cuban cigars. would be a 10 if the draw was better.

"Can't hold up."
Another Monte with construction problems. Somebody send a memo to the factory to slow down production to improve quality controls!
This is a rustic cuban with hints of cedar and leather. Poor ash that frequently broke off at the wrong times. (In my drink, in my lap, on my shoes, etc...) It was a smooth stoker that had enough spice to keep it medium bodied.

"I agree"
I am not that impressed with the C. Heavy with the spice and not as complex as the double or othe LE's.

Noticed on several that they go sour about half way through.

"expected more"
Very spicy at first, but suddenly also very bitter and harsh, then again spicies, raisin, aniseed, and then again trouble with construction

"Not as good as other 2003 ELs"
Nice wrapper with a perfect triple cap. The draw was bit snug and the burn was uneven for for most of the first half. The flavor was beefy & charry, but rather undistinguished. I was hoping for more complexity. It was highly refined and smoked well pas the bands. It wasn't as engaging as other ELs I have smoked including the HdM Piramide 2003

"no wonder it's limited"
Smoking it was like having a conversation with a rather dull person: not unpleasant, but rather superficial, uninteresting, and not something you look forward to in the future.

"Needs time, but it impressed me."
Nice appearance and a good burn that, while on occassion burned lopsided, tended to straighten itself out.
Nice flavor profile that was overall milder than the typical MC but had an added dimension due to the LE wrapper. Unfortunately it disappointed a bit due to very youthful taste. Nonetheless, worth getting a box to let age.

"Gonna be great"
This cigar was a bit tough, but then again it was only a few months old. I was amazed at how well it burnt, and how stable the flavor was for being so young. I look forward to this cigar in a few years, it should be great.
